club like atmosphere in a hotel type operation, close to Edinburgh's many attractions, friendly staff, lovely area for walking, superb breakfast.

I made a few suggestions to management about various aspects of the room we had, Also as I am amember of a Club with reciprocal rights, I could have saved a lot of money if i had booked direct with the Club - maybe your booking form should say something about that?

Liked the oldy worldy feeling and the breakfast was excellent

The staff could have been friendlier and as they knew we were there for a wedding at the same venue they could have serviced our room in the time morning so we could get ready for 2pm

The location was very good, only a few minutes walk from everything of interest. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the room was well equipped and luxurious.

This is a living monument to the royal scots regiment & was all a bit too much for my liking, military paraphernalia was everywhere & some of the hotel rules were a little over the top, no mobile phones in the restaurant, jacket & tie must be worn for lunch & dinner, no jeans allowed in the restaurant after breakfast etc, be warned.

Location and facilities.

Had the same ambiance as my London military club plus excellent dining, both breakfast and dinner.The Hotel was also quiet with very good polite staff.

Facilities & Staff were excellent.The breakfast was very good. Super location. Delighted to see standards maintained like wearing a tie in the dining room. quiet lounge

liked the face you were only a 10 min walk from the center

No parking but Edinburgh is really bad for it's parking

Kindness of staff

Quiet, secluded location yet conveniently close to busy and vibrant centre. Appreciated the portraits acknowledging the significance of and respect for our Royal Family. Particularly liked the (sadly 'unfashionable') request for sartorial discretion in the dining room.

Not a criticism of the Club - but was disappointed to note that a few gentlemen guests lacked the courtesy to respect the requested dress code for dinner.

An excellent club/hotel, good room, good food , helpful staff, very much like an officers mess

A slight niggle outside room 23 was a dumb waiter which made a metalic noise when used ,fortunately finished by about 2300hrs

The windows are a bit thin so there's quite a lot of traffic noise at night

All the staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was large and the furnishings were individual pieces with two comfy reading chairs - not the case in chain hotels. Room service was speedy. The shower was powered!

loved the history of the buliding and the style of the rooms. very close to all the main sits but on a very quite street. room was lovely and warm. breakfast was the best we have had.

The staff were welcoming, and very polite. I enjoyed the club ambience. The rooms were clean and well decorated. We enjoyed the meals which were served in a nicely presented period dining room. A very good breakfast. For those seeking an atmosphere of tradition, with 21st Century service and attention to detail, its recommended.

Comfortable and spacious room, very peaceful. Close to tourist attractions.

No mention of dress code at point of booking, rather stressfull when we were stopped from entering the dining room for a pre booked lunch because the men in our party did not have jackets on.

Friendly and helpful staff , clean spacious rooms. Hotel has character and close walking distance to City centre excellent for a weekend break.

We enjoyed our stay at The Royal Scots Club very much and if accommodation is required in Edinburgh in the future they will be top of the list. Good location great value.

Its location is good and a single female feels very safe here.

The staff were really warm and friendly, while remaining very polite as a club should convey. They also had great advice for seeing the city. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the bathroom excellent.

Think CLUB and NOT Hotel and you'll love the Royal Scots. The Period Room decor and the absolutely top-class Housekeeping staff made our stay a real pleasure. The quaint Bar/Lounge and the fabulous dining room with an excellent Chef producing superb Club-style food were a delight.

The Reception stall, alas, on arrival are not at all welcoming. Indeed they border on surly - and just about seem to be doing their job. Also the restrictive timings of the Lounge/Bar make getting food/drinks round-the clock difficult. But the very efficient and friendly Restaurant staff make up for the restrictive timings/menu.
