Lorne House is a recently refurbished B&B in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside in the village of Box, just 6 miles from Bath and walking distance from local pubs.

Stephenie the receptionist was excellent friendly and helpful .The room was fantastic along with the bathroom.Breakfast was good i
Maintenance was non existant,Cleaning was poor.Finding the hotel was difficult as it is listed as Corsham not Box on the A4
Spent a very pleasant night at the Rudloe, thoroughly enjoyable meal, very pleasant staff.
Staff were stretched at peak times in the bar & restaurant due to lack of numbers
The impressive Victorian Gothic building, with its wonderful interior decorations. We only had breakfast, but that was excellent.
We would have liked a couple of comfortable chairs, or sofa, in the games room. Our room didn't have tea making facilities, and was not ready until 3pm.
Easy to book, and very friendly staff.
Room too hot. Lightbulbs missing.
It was a complete shambles, work was being carried out, staff didn't know what they were doing. I would never stay there again. I don't think Marco Pierre White would like to stay there. I can't believe he is associated with such a lousy hotel.
Sam, who works at reception, is so friendly, that I find myself looking forward to her smile as I head for Rudloe after a long day at work.
Room excellent. Really quiet. Wifi excellent. Hall absolutely splendid.
Breakfast really slow. Not enough staff so tables only cleared when customers come in for breakfast. Fire alarm took away maun receptionist for 10 mins. Nobody sure how to turn off and it went on for over 5 mins. Food lovely but please employ more staff.
lack of lounge bar
Discount of 45%, food was excellent
maybe a little understaffed, better selection of draught beers at the bar would be good.
Me and my partner went here for a short trip away and the overall experience was lovely. Bedrooms in the main building have been redone, very trendy with antique pieces. Comfortable beds and friendly helpful staff. Great bar and restaurant room with nice food.
We were firstly put in a terrible room in a separate building, the room had cracks in the walls, stains on the carpet, makeup smudged on the curtains and bedsheets, grubby bathroom with hairs on the toilet seat, dry piece of furniture was slightly broken and the room in general felt run down to a point which they shouldn't be inviting guests to stay. However the staff were quick to change the room when we requested. The staff were lovely but one of them was wearing a dirty hoody with tobacco hanging out of his back pocket as he showed us around- bit odd! The newly refurbished rooms are nice but are incredibly OTT. I think people in general would prefer a comfortable sofa or hot drink making facilities than have a broken old pool table or life sized pig statue in the room. Also more towels, and a few more bedroom/bathroom facilities such as a hairdryer and soap and bathrobes would bring the experience up to a higher standard. Infact it is fair to say the room facilities are below expected standard. The entrance is also cluttered and feels slightly more like a messy storage cupboard, but I get what they are trying to go for. The hallway (or shrine) with a few hundred of Marco's portraits is a little over the top. But overall It seems the main building and the other building are worlds apart, and whilst the main building is beautiful, it cannot decide what audience it is catering for.
I love the calmness of Rudloe. Beautiful place to relax after work. Tastiest food in Wiltshire, too (so far...)
We got married here and booked the whole hotel for the whole weekend.....now its a run down very tired looking wreck with all the original features replaced by flashing aloha bar signs and wall to wall pictures of the owner who loves himself and probably doesn't know this is part of his self indulgent portfolio left to turn to this unfortunate dump
Location was very handy for work
Heating was broken, dog mess on the hearth in the lounge area of hotel and the rooms are now beginning to look very tired. The towel rail was hanging off the wall and the water took 10 minutes to warm up enough to have a tepid shower!!
Food takes far too long to be served/made
The funky bar, the 'apartment', the food - I recommend the Steak!! The staff were great, my wife and I had a great time
Location - very convenient for Bath City The architecture of main building is lovely Attractive grounds
Decor is now too shabby chic A beautiful building like this deserves much better interior decor. The ambience has deteriorated since our previous visit One of the towels was threadbare - short of funds ? Far too many pictures of Marco Pierre White
Staff were brilliant, setting was lovely, with superb views across the Wiltshire/Somerset countryside. Food was great and loved the unusual arty paintings and photographs. Not a problem moving us to another room when we had a problem with the first one.
Bar and wine prices a little on the 'heavy' side.
The location The rooms The food The atmosphere The quiet
The room was lovely and warm with a comfortable four-poster bed. The grounds and surrounding countryside were stunning.
This hotel was undergoing a transition from an unloved country pile, not dissimilar to Fawlty Towers, into a high-end stately retreat at the time of our stay. For this reason we decided to forgive the more down at heal aspects of our room (tired décor, dodgy electrics and so on) but we were a little shocked to wake up and find that workmen had gutted a neighbouring bedroom and piled up the entire contents in the hallway outside our room. It rather took the edge off what we were hoping would be a relaxing break.
The grounds & the building itself are lovely. Superb views from our bedroom window & generously sized rooms.
Condition of our room was poor. Cracked wash hand basin, bathroom generally tatty looking. No main light so lighting served by standard lamp which wasn't working. Couldn't be fixed during our stay, had to chase staff to find out what was happening. Kettle lead too short from table to socket so had to be plugged in from floor. Disposable plastic cups provided in bathroom, not what we expected at all.
The location is good, Bath and other places of interest in easy reach. The grounds are lovely, even in the middle of winter with excellent views. The rooms were well appointed. The main building was unusual and full of interest unlike most sterile chain hotels.
The staff on the whole made you feel like they were doing you a favour letting you stay there. Rather unfriendly and I would suggest not well trained. Although we booked as 2 couples our rooms were not together, the "apartment " plan of the annex allowed for them to be together, we booked well in advance and the place was far from full, no thought given there. We were not shown to our rooms but rather pointed in the general direction. So hotel ok pity about the staff.
Great dinner, nice views outside
The Restaurant was very good service was good considering that the hotel was full. As it was November we did not see the garden at its best.
bedrooms, bookeds three. One had just had the floor painted and smelt awful, had to ask to change. 2 in our party suffered breathing problems, could not use the room They were large with 4posters but would not call them deluxe .The bedrooms definitely needed a lot of TLC.the exchange room was in the annex and was much better.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dining areas were quirky but lovely. The room we had was in the newly refurbished annex, it was spacious and comfortable and very clean There was a good choice for breakfast.
We didn't like the bar area as it had pool tables, table soccer and juke box. There was only two long tables to sit at, nowhere to sit and have a private drink and conversation. The photo on the internet site makes it look better than it is. The reception area was very dark. We were disappointed in that when we returned to our room at about 5pm the bed was still unmade etc and it wasn't until 5.30pm that room service came which wasn't convenient.
Quirky interior and beautiful setting made for a relaxing stay.
Kitchen staff late at night in the bar pretending to be restaurant reviewers, and generally staff levels at busy times were a little low... (Breakfast staff seems too busy to spend time checking the detail of things for their guests)
