Lovely little quaint hotel, turned out to be a Marco Pierre-White owned hotel might explain why the breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast ever - superb
Magnificent breakfast , staff lovely
large comfortable room. large gardens and grounds.
the circulation space and access to the dining room was rather cramped and gloomy. the evening meal was overpriced. the breakfast was adequate, but fairly basic and not well presented.
The staff were very helpful, very nice scenery and location, lovely quiet area big spacious rooms lovely food.
Nothing it was all nice
Room was comfy. Bathroom needed a good clean
Staff kept getting the meals muddled up as they had a wedding on there and were very busy
Rooms not attached to main hotel .. It was good for me . I had to study for a training course that I was on ..
Bed too short Room very hot, yes it was summer but no means of cooling the room. Bar choice limited.
Food expensive breakfast choice limited,
location and facilities food and service excellent staff helpful friendly and quick with service decor of room tea/ coffee facilities iron and board available
mattress- could feel springs/coil. bed "SQUEAKED"every time you moved. pillows- either too soft or thin (if pillow firm enough) room too hot even with door/window open all night. fan or ac would have been beneficial no top sheet- therefore no option to just have sheet instead of duvet.
The executive double room was cramped and had an unpleasant odour, I assume from something that had been spilt by a previous visitor as there was a wet patch in the middle of the carpet. We had double doors to the outside but only one door opened so the room was stuffy. Fans available would be an added bonus for visitors. The breakfast was very poor value for money - 1 mushroom is laughable and the bacon was beyond crisp, more cremated. Our food came before our tea, I had to ask twice for it and we had finished breakfast and tea before we were served any toast.
Situated in a lovely spot. The garden was lovely and croquet on the lawn was great. The lady at reception was extremely helpful.
We were extremely disappointed with the breakfast. Very little choice of cereal. No fresh fruit or pastries. No vegetarian choice other than egg on toast which when it came was really cold. The full English breakfast consisted of 1 sausage, 1 egg and 1 piece of bacon. Breakfast was very poor it really let the place down.
Location was great Rudloe Hall looked beautiful old building Breakfast was lovely couldnt have been better Staff that served breakfast were excellent This place could be so much more great location and dining room staff and food was lovely.
Girl on front desk when we arrived unhelpful and not interested. Not a great wecome!, Girl who served us in the bar the same uninterested and not very friendly. Couldnt find the place at first as they had changed the name so drove around a bit looking for it.would have been nice to have been e-mailed about the change. when I booked thought we were staying in the building shown on website Rudloe Hall thats why we chose it as loved the look of it. When we arrived we were told we were in another building which is 80metres from Rudloe Hall that was dissapointing. The room wasnt what we thought we were getting in the beautiful old buiding. It was pretty dark and decor back in the 70's. it was pouring with rain 1st morning got saturated going to the Hall for breakfast, no umbrellas supplied to walk up there!
Good location for visiting family. Room good size, shower lovely but a bit noisy. Peaceful location, breakfast very good and plenty of choice. Good value for bed and breakfast but it was a last minute deal. Would not be so happy if I was paying the full rate, because it's really not worth that. Bed comfortable. Was in the annexe in an executive double. Overall surroundings beautiful.Plenty of parking. Would stay again but definitely would not pay full price.
Room had a funny smell when you first walked in, but remedied by opening the window. Furniture tired looking, no information about surrounding areas. Places to go etc, although we did not need this. TV too small and signal poor. No wifi signal in room, although ok in main hotel.Bar not enough seating, odd set up with lots of bits and pieces, not sure what the purpose of some of it was for, and not for touching! 2 pool tables in a relatively small area, although both were being used. Radio 2 blaring at breakfast, didn't really bother us but somehow it didn't all blend well with the surroundings. The nude pictures at the entrance did not bother us but again not really sure why they needed to be in a hotel that is more than a hundred years old! Not enough attention to detail and I'm sure that this could be easily rectified. Overall we had a good experience and I believe you get what you pay for, which is why I feel that we had value for money at £65.00 but as I have already said I would not be prepared to pay anymore than this.
We had a room in the annex which was a nice room. Room was nice and clean with a lovely large bed.
The name of the hotel we booked was the Rudloe Hall Hotel but the sign for the hotel was the Rudloe Arms, this caused confusion to many people staying at the hotel. All signage was either one of the names. They need to alter all signage/ paperwork etc. Poor selection of toiletries in the bathroom. No folder of local attractions/ amenities. No menu for the restaurant. Marco Pierre White restaurant was a joke! Very basic menu, with not much choice. The retauraunt was grubby and smelled. the smell of the kitchen/ greasy smell was very off putting. Glasses and i mean every glass on most tables we could see were dirty/water marked and so was the cutlery. The place was dark and dingy. The blinds were dusty. The windows only lifted a few inches to try to let in some air. The restaurant really lets the hotel down. If what the employees say is correct that Marco visits either weekly or fortnightly I do not know why the standards of the restaurant aren't much much higher.
Lovely building, lots to do in the area, great views from the room/balcony
Expensive, no fridge/mini bar (although it says there is one on the website)
Size of room and ensuite location parking facilities
Not welcoming no directions when booking in on how to find room more or less took details and that was it
Bedroom window sashes broken, one propped open by a log! Other one wouldn't open at all. Very hot night. Bathroom loo wouldn't flush properly. Mattress dreadful, like sleeping in a hammock but pillows good. When I arrived after a big lunch party I asked what the food options were and was told to book into the restaurant. When I tried to order a snack off the menu I was given in the restaurant I was told there were only served at the bar! As my partner wanted a full meal they relented and served me my snack. Breakfast took 1hour 10minutes, most of which was spent waiting for food.
I was disappointed that despite requesting a room with a desk, or at least somewhere to use my laptop, there was none. I wasn't informed of this on arrival, or beforehand. Not helpful for business travellers.
Great hotel for a w/e break (without the kids :-)), lovely views, restaurant & bar décor quirky, excellent food & service, loved the fish glug-glug jugs. staff very helpful. great grounds to explore as well - how many fruit trees have they planted, Marco Pierre White Cider anyone. Would happily stay again :-)
Shower over bath difficult to control & sprayed onto floor. Room (which was one of the modern suites) had plenty of space for a walk in shower! Some of the furniture in the room looked a little tired & worn for saying its a fairly modern room.
Quirky decor. Helpful staff
Cobwebs beside the unit the coffee facilities were on. Broken door frame on room. Grounds unkempt.
the building is gorgeous - just shame we were not staying in that part, we were dumped in a characterless block some distance away
here is the transcript i sent to them complaining: Hi, I complained to the receptionist this morning. Having come away, I'm totally unhappy. Before I leave any feedback, I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. The room was extremely small for 2 adults, the skirting as you enter the room is coming away from the wall, there is mould in the corner of the bath sealant, a neighbouring room tap valve is broken and so loud it woke us up, the layout of the building with the secondary outside doors slam and keep you awake. At breakfast, no-one checked us in. After 10 mins we asked for tea and a coffee and quite frankly the senior waitress treated us with disdain. After a further 30 mins, we still hadn't been asked what we wanted to eat and so we asked the same waitress who was more concerned with clearing plates than assisting us and again treated us as unimportant. We placed our order, waited another 10/15 mins, complained again as no food arrived. We had waited an hour, so got up and left as we had a prior engagement to make. I have to say, I'm a frequent traveller and the room and service really has been the worst to date and I'm not exaggerating. I await your response. we've had no response - they don't care about clients in my opinion - totally unacceptable!!
the grounds were beautiful, entrance very nice, receptionist very friendly and welcoming Bar area was nice, breakfast room well decorated View from bedroom was fantastic
1st room was dirty 2nd room was very tired with some lovely old pieces of furniture and some poor qualty items Bed was uncomfortable, carpet stained and shower not great Breakfast very poor for the price, cheap juice, sliced economy bread, expected better Not value for money Breakfast staff apart from 2 were very uninspiring
We liked our room in the annex, very tasteful & good bathroom with plenty of room. Our dining experience was very good in every respect thankyou.
We felt the main doors into hall & bedrooms would have been better with a 'soft close' mechanism for the late comers, if this was possible.
Friendly staff Large room Lovely garden Value for money
More cold choices at breakfast would be good
Ambiance of the old mansiion and room in which we were served breakfast. Staff also very accommodating
When a facility provides both "in house" and "in annex" rooms, I believe that your booking site should more clearly identify the options and assure that the customer is given a specific room in the preferred portion of the facility.
staff very pleasant. Dining room nice and bedroom a nice size and generally comfortable.
A few things not working in our room, cold tap on bath and 'expelair' in bathroom. While good response to phone call about these issues no maintenance man available to fix them over weekend -as these problems were reported Friday evening and most plumbers etc work Saturday mornings this was disappointing. Also unable to replace a light bulb over the weekend! ? Had the room been checked properly before our arrival. Grounds are in need of attention - are okay near the main hotel but need a lot of work over the wider grounds and also overgrown around the annex we were staying in. Had the feel that the hotel was in 'transition' and will probably improve over the next couple of years.
