Score from 392 reviews Fabulous
Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds, fabulous staff and very clean, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The food, the relaxed atmosphere, lovely lounges and bar, garden, attitude of staff to customers. I would go back again but certainly not to room 16.
Room sixteen was very small and looked out onto a gravel flatt roof with slabs layed on it. The room also was subjected to noise from what I can only think was a massive extractor fan. We were a bit disappointed as it was a treat for my wife's 64th birthday and I had informed the hotel of this on my booking.
Very relaxed and comfortable. A home from home. Very good breakfast, good choice and well cooked.
Dinner did not live up to expectations. Nice menu, but execution and presentation of some dishes disappointing.
Little expensive but great food and friendly staff. Very clean and relaxing hotel !
le charme le confort l'accueil et les repas
tout est parfait
Staff were friendly and did they went out of their way to make us at home. My husband was queuing to play the Old Course St Andrews and they organised flask of tea and sandwiches
Location, lovely house and gardens, pleasant dining room, good food, attentive staff
1. First night we were in a room above the kitchens....noisy air conditioning unit venting just outside our window and noisy from 7.00am from the kitchen 2. We were moved at our request for our second night but were disturbed at bedtime by noisy American guests in two adjacent rooms with people going up and down the corridor past our room, talking loudly, banging doors and running showers (5) until after midnight. This was repeated from 7.00am the following morning. The soundporoofing of the rooms seems to be very poor as the noise of the shower from the adjacent room was very loud making it impossible to sleep. To charge £220.00 per night for B+B for two sleepless nights is unnacceptable
Dinner was lovely. House staff were friendly. Room size was good. Small touches in the bedroom was nice.
Room was too hot. Breakfast buffet was weak. Bar staff weren't the most kmowledgable. Also no atmosphere in the lounges
The water flow in the shower was way too weak. It was the worse shower we had in Scotland.
Beautiful setting, rooms, decor and food exceptional. Breakfast was lovely and home made shortbread in room was nice touch.
Food only served until 9pm and very limited overnight room service menu available. The hotel was beautiful but there was no atmosphere at all in the bar, we were the only two people in it on our first night. Lack of gym facilities - would expect this for the price.
Felt like staying with friends the restaurant food was excellent the feel was very comfortable and cosy loved the attention to detail in the bedrooms fully stocked bathroom toiletries good selection of magazines and adored the welcome teddy. The Garden is spectacular
very warm & cosy hotel, friendly staff. rooms very clean, warm & big. food in the restaurant is very good, yet not very cheap
bathroom needs some modernization, although very clean
Character , friendliness of the staff , restaurant and quality of the food , cleanliness and comfort . Feels very welcoming and just a very nice atmosphere .
Shower pressure poor ! That is all I can find
The setting at the edge of St Andrew's in very well kept and extensive grounds. Excellent public rooms. Attentive reception and most other staff. Bedrooms well maintained including curtains drawn and beds turned back in evenings.
The failure of staff at breakfast to clear cereal bowls before delivering main courses even with few people present. At dinner - a tiny scallop starter, heavy main course of pork products with no vegetables. Poor presentation of desserts.
Position Comfort Staff Restaurant
Clean , nice surroundings , nice bedrooms
Lots of wasps in are bedroom
Spacious, comfortable rooms
The gardens are amazing (though I did dead-head the roses) and the food, wines, rooms and staff were top-notch. We were on a business trip mixed with a bit of pleasure and it made the trip.
We received a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was comfortable and all the facilities in the bedroom and bathroom were of excellent quality. We enjoyed an excellent dinner and a grand Scottish breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.
Lovely room & bathroom Excellent quality & staff First class breakfast Lovely gardens
Expensive! But St Andrews is expensive so more a reflection of the town rather than hotel
Nice and quiet lovely surroundings Weather was lovely, which helps Ate in hotel 1st night and the meal was good, not sure if the menu changed much ,if wanting to eat on other nights. For us we wanted to eat in St. Andrews on other nights.
Weather was hot and room got very hot.
The staff were brilliant and did whatever they could to assist during our stay. Would highly recommend as a hotel with character and a personal touch.
It was great being able to take our dogs with us and their welcome was excellent.
The service was exceptional. We enjoyed the individualised service and the peace and tranquillity of a small luxury hotel. Felt very pampered. Food quality was of a high standard. Wine stock fabulous. Staff very attentive.
