Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is southwest of Long Eaton.
Wherever you decide to stay, check Booking.com for the best Nottingham hotel deals.
Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.

I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets. Too many dark areas and alleyways.
Plenty of places to eat though, varied selections.
Nice areas to walk as well with historic monuments.

Visiting Nottingham is a way to dive into real Middle England. It has a lot to feel a history, traditions, and people of England. Beautiful nature, and surrounding villages, informative and attractive museums (Museum of Justice and the Castle first of all), great Universities, full of students from all over the world, nice pubs with local beers and ales. All these create an unforgettable atmosphere of old England.

We went to rock city- affordable and great venue,
We did pit and pendulum, great gothic bar - prices mad reasonable compared to South. Proper cocktails.
Alchemist- great experience.
Loads of good shops,
Museum of curiosities,
Feel like the city is built on an underground history, so many basements and creepy places underground. Really good, and cheap compared to london/kent. Friendly people, users everywhere.

If you like big crowds( (on only a Thursday night!), and (for driving) very unhelpful road signing for getting to A60 North when exiting area around hotel, then Nottingham is fine. Obviously these "features" were not to our taste - nor is (apart from the 1930s Newton Building of the Trent University) the city centre "architecture"!
However, we will return, and no doubt use same hotel, when there is another potentially outstanding classical music concert at the Royal Hall,. Such was the object of our visit.
No hotel is perfect, and yours, despite our criticisms, provided a generally very reasonable/reasonably priced overnight stay, with its own covered and secure car park, and the great advantage of being so near to the Hall (and Playhouse)
The bathroom was good, the room was big enough. The location was excellent with a number of good cafés and pubs near by as well as easy access to the city centre by bus. The manager was friendly and knowledgeable, check in was efficient. It was possible to park my car on the property except for one day out of the week I was there. There was a small table and chair as well as a bedside table and more mains sockets than anyone could need in addition to two USB charging sockets.
Clean, beautiful building with character, tastefully renovated throughout. The simple but large, comfortable room was very quiet - there is next to no road noise thanks to it being on a dead end street. The bathroom fittings, water pressure and temperature were great, which adds so much comfort. Parking is great. Last but not least, the staff are intelligent, polite, kind and courteous; they clearly care about their jobs, the hotel, and the guests’ experiences.
The hotel has plenty of parking. It's location is excellent. We went to the race course (greyhounds) only 10 mins by car.
But if you want Trent Bridge or Nottts. Forest ground you could walk
It is also close (walking distance) to the River Trent which is a nice walk
There is a bus stop outside the hotel and Nottingham city centre is 10 mins away.
Breakfast was fine. Didn't eat in the hotel in the eve. The spa is small but good.
The hotel is right in the city centre, so it was very easy to walk to many attractions. There are many bars and restaurants nearby. Check in procedure is clear and easy and the room is quite spacious. The walls of the room are thick enough not to hear noise in the other rooms. It is possible to cook your meals there. The deposit returned the next working day (check out was on Friday and the full amount was released on Monday).
From the moment I booked, the manager was replying and asking about my allergies, what I needed and had information about food. Once in the hotel, he was friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, clean and the bed was very comfy. Although the hotel is on a main road, it was quiet enough at the back to have my window open a little through the night. Plenty of parking off road. Breakfast was lovely, TV was on.
very warm and surprisingly welcome . I had noted to the hotel that I with my fiancé Hanna visit Nottingham and she is visiting England for the first time , and the hotel surprised us with very nice and romantic room designed without extra charge . Also , quiet area , access to the public buses easily and near to city centre and good size of the room .
I’ve been to crowne plaza about 5 or 6 times. It’s always going to be my go to hotel whenever I come Nottingham. I always leave happy and completely satisfied. The location is great, there’s a lot around, the city centre is nearby and within walking distance so you don’t have to travel far. The bed was absolutely comfy and the breakfast was nice.
Hart's Hotel is in an upmarket quarter of Nottingham and is ideally located for access to Nottingham city centre. It is an attractive building and I would recommend staying in one of the garden rooms. The access to the garden with it's amazing views of Nottinghamshire is well worth the few quid extra!
Amazing location in the City centre right next to the railway station. Friendly helpful staff. Large comfortable room. Newly decorated and very clean. The continental breakfast was very good.
7 min walk from train station. In the heart of city centre next to weatherspoons. Rooms where good quality bed staff were fantastic on arrival. Would stay at this hotel again soon. Thanks
