We enjoyed everything. The breakfast was very good, with a lot of choices that you could combine, and every morning you would eat something else. Our room was great, we had everything we needed, it was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. About the location, it's not so bad at all. The neighborhood was rather quiet, interesting and nothing to worry about, even at night. We didn't have any problems. From East Ham tube station to Westminster, with District line, you do aprox 30-40 minutes. You can also take the bus that has a station right in front of the hotel. It was lovely and we would definitely come back.

We had only a small problem with the Wi-fi, that in our room was poor on our phone and tablets, but on the laptop the signal was good. A small advice: if you want a quiet room, ask for one that doesn't face the main street (our was facing the parking lot and it was ok)

Breakfast wasn't great, choice of scrambled egg, beans and inedible sausages. 1 pillow each, definitely needed more.

Room was clean and well laid out. Staff were friendly and helpful. They laid on an early breakfast at 5am for cyclists taking part in the London 100. Food in the pub looked good, but I wasn't prepared to wait an hour for a cheeseburger, so went to one of the many kebab shops.

Street noise. Lack of blackout curtains due to streetlamps.

    Excellent, helpful and friendly staff.

Insufficient parking. Would have liked the option to book a space in advance.

Staff was polite and helpful. Our room was clean and food in the morning was plentiful. We loved neighbourhood as it was vibrant and had loads of great restaurants.

We could hear the music from the pub downstairs and the beds weren't overly comfortable. Considering the cost of accommodation in London, the Ruskin is good value.

The place has obviously undergone recent renovation. Room was big and beds comfortable. Breakfast was decent enough for anyone who chose the hotel for budget reasons (all breads/cakes come in packages and all look and taste like the no-brand version of products). Staff was friendly whenever we needed them. The real problem with this place is that there are some nice things but a few more bad things, and all together was that more often than not the balance will tend to the negative experience. So it is up to you really whether you want to gamble with your holidays.

The problem is: the location is not so bad (35 min from central london by tube plus 10 min walk), the neighbourhood is not so bad (it is indian area, so although it is alright it does not give whatever you expected as a london vibe), the breakfast is not so bad (read pros). But then the not so bad things join the so bad ones, such as: the room was directly above their OWN pub, which only stops at 1 am. Extremely noisy from the music beat. Breakfast os served at 7 am at the pub which closed at 1 am, tables still beer-sticky. The water in the shower didn't heat up 80% of the time, even though they "fixed" it upon request. The drain was clogged, which inundated the toilet after the first shower, but this was also fixed when requested. We usually stay at places ranking 7-8.5 in ratings, and it seems like this hotel should not be in this category based on our experience.

The bathroom was nice. The stuff was nice.

It was imposible to open the windows. Lots of fire doors were in the corridors, I know it was for good but it would be imposible for a claustrophobic person to stay there.

I was travelling by bicycle and made a special request for somewhere safe to keep it overnight so the staff allowed me to keep it my room which I was extremely grateful for.

Lighting in the room isn't very good could do with upgrading to LEDs. The lift makes an unnerving noise on the way down but works o.k.

Very clean, and good staff who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast ok. Value for money unbelievable,.

Not a great area and a fair way out from Central London, but price made up for it.

    Breakfast was great!

Not really situated in a good neighbourhood. Far from the city center and also relatively far from East Ham station if you have heavy bags to carry. Noisy during the night

The staff was wonderful and responsive, breakfast was good, Pub dinners were delicious, room was clean and quiet, shower had plenty of hot water, AC was SO NICE during a hot week in London. TV and WiFi were also great for me and my daughter.

The location is 25-40 minutes (depending on where you're going) outside the city via the Tube at East Ham. This was totally worth it for me and my daughter, but I think people should know. It's also Zone 4, so you should factor that in when budgeting transportation costs around the city. It's also considered a dodgy neighborhood by Londoners (I was told multiple times) but really, it's just a working class, ethnically diverse neighborhood with lots of commuters. It reminded me of many boroughs of NYC. So this isn't really something I didn't like - but it came up when I told people where I was staying.
