Friendly staff. Free WiFi in lounge. Cleanliness. Location. Price (inc. ample English cooked breakfast). Remember this hotel is *very* reasonably priced for London! Room is basic - clean and with kettle for hot drinks - but no TV, no Radio, ageing furniture, firm mattress and slim pillow will not suit all. Most rooms *not* en suite - just washbasin. Decor is best described as clean and tidy - but not the height of fashion! Montague Street is by central London standards quiet so I was able to sleep with (double glazed) window open.

The reception guy was professional and friendly, it was easy to rebook a room by phone and he remembered me from my previous trip to London. The rooms are OK for a one night stay and the location is great, across the street from the British Museum! The breakfast room was nice and the service was efficient and personable.

I found the stay very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. It was very local for me to get to Great Ormond St Hospital and also the British Museum. The stay was very good value for money and i would come again with friends for a shopping or theatre trip.. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a tv in the room....

Nothing can beat the location of the Ruskin Hotel. I've stayed there four times for this reason alone, although the price is very good for the location especially as breakfast is included. Lack of en suite facilities but this is acceptable

Location, location, location -- very convenient to 3 tube stations and adjacent to a lovely private park. Very quiet, clean. Loved that we could open the large window. the bed was not comfortable and it would have been nice to have face cloths and a bath/shower mat in our room.

The rooms were clean. Bed was firm but comfy. It was quiet and I could shut out the street noise. Cheap for London considering the good location. Fried breakfast was alright. Shower room and toilets were very clean. Room was ver small and the decor throughout was outdated but ok for what I needed. All in al I'd sta there again if I need somewhere cheap and close to where I need.

No TV's in the room or other unnecessary crap. Good simple breakfast. Trying to help us out rather than charge us more or say no, I.E. helpful. The shower could be a bit better set up, considering that it needs to be used by groups of people.

Excellent value for money. I spent a week at the hotel as I was writing exams at the University of London then stayed the weekend to sight-see. It was minutes from the University which was ideal and quiet which made it conducive to studying. The room was basic but had the necessary amenities: desk, kettle, tea and coffee, hairdryer. My room had a lovely view of a garden which was also quite nice. Also a hot breakfast was provided in the morning and the staff were friendly. This is not a complaint as much as an observation: the hotel is not new. Things are a little worn along the edges so if this is an issue for you try somewhere else. If you want a place that is convenient, safe and inexpensive, it is a good choice.

Excellent location.Russell square underground station was very near and iT was very convenient for me to reach the the airport on time.RESTAURANT People were very cordial with very good hospitality.cool drinks and water sale in reception is a very good idea.break fast was really good The lavatory doesnt have a tap or water facilities other than the flush,IF the wi-fi internet connection is made available to the rooms then it will be an extra attraction.it was annoying to carry the laptop down to the hall to get wi-fi access

The location and full English breakfast are excellent. The rooms are functional and fine. There are two toilets and one shower per floor. I never had to wait on either. But be prepared for a shower floor that is never dry by bringing a robe and flip flops.

I have stayed before and knew what to expect - a comfortable and clean hotel in a superb location. Ok so it needs updating, but you have free wifi in a comfortable lounge, a good, quick breakfast and you can open the window on to a lovely quiet street or private garden. If you want to pay a budget price you can't expect luxury!

I think this hotels best advantage is the location. In comparison to other locations such as Bayswater, Paddington or Sussex Gardens I found it a little bit overpriced. But then again, I didn't spend a lot of money on taxi's or buses, I could easily walk home after visiting theatres or restaurants in the West End. Everything was ok, it was clean and the staff was very friendly, but yet, it was more of a very simple b&b than a hotel which you might think when you see the price. My biggest question mark is about the breakfast, even though it was a bit amuseing to watch the very cumbersome ritual, when you finally get the breakfast it's as everything else with this hotel, it's ok. Having said all this, I can easily recommend Ruskin Hotel to everyone, just bear in mind that it's a simple b&b which you pay a little bit to much for, but maybe save taxifares on.

The reception at the hotel was very friendly! I got a room on the side of the courtyard park and it was quite cozy. The room was retro and basic but for a traveller who spends most of the time exploring the city it is perfect. The area around the hotel does not have a lot of traffic either so I got a good sleep every night. The breakfast was tasty but a bit too early in the morning for me. The location is very good, there is a very pleasant park and a underground station within a short walk. The shared showers could really use a removable shower head. The house is old and the floor in my room was not level and the floors creak, I found this more charming than negative though. Breakfast could be served a bit longer, I was too tired some mornings to wake up to early to eat it.

The breakfast was quite nice as it is sit down service. Also having wifi in my room was a big plus. The rooms were fine, but nothing fancy. If you get a room with the shared bathroom/shower, just know that those facilities are the bare minimum. The shower is in the basement and has no windows. Plus the hotel had trouble making sure there was even enough handsoap so you could wash your hands after using the toilet. I thought that wasn't too good.
