Bathroom and shower facilities were not very good; shower broken and water scaulding hot and dangerous.
Friendly welcome, free parking in the centre of town, cosy warm room
Breakfast was a bit early
Everything, from staff to friendliness of other guest.
bed was very very comfortable but then it was a new one. Room was also comfortable and very warm. Reception were very helpful regarding directions that we wanted for the following day.
Bar area was a little cold looking and could have been a bit more inviting but it stocked what we wanted to drink so that was ok. for the age and the stars of The Russel it was acceptable.
The hotel is in a great spot, close to town and all you need. The room I had was in a separate building, and was huge. The kitchen facilities were excellent. The staff helped with whatever was an issue. Brekky was delicious and plentiful.
I couldn´t get the bath to work. A minor issue (and I could have asked for help if necessary).
Good room good breakfast
The beds were comfy and the breakfasts were most enjoyable.
Wi fi not all that good in the room. Sometimes had to sit at the door to get even 1 bar but not really a bother.
Clean, spacious room, good hot shower, quiet surroundings. Old fashioned bathroom dating from the days when they built bathrooms properly (none of your modern slidey-toilet-seat syndrome).
Bath advertised with room, but sadly hot tap appeared to have been welded shut, so no hot bath possible. Completely understand why, as tub enormous so their water heating bill would have been astronomical. Would suggest NOT advertising the bath as a useable feature, however.
Terrible outdated room .... Wallpaper peeling off walls ... Really outdated 1970s furnishings
very helpful and friendly service, massive rooms, easy access to town centre
Staff at reception and at breakfast were most helpful
Our room was not properly cleaned, in fact on our last day the bed wasn't made nor the bathroom cleaned. Wi Fi was only downstairs
Annex very spacious. Friendly welcome and great breakfast. Location couldn't have been better and we managed to park on their carpark!
Hotel is tired and in need of some attention. However everything was clean.
Lovely, calm atmosphere. Building warm and welcoming. Definitely choose to stay again. Lady on reception particularly kind and helpful, thank you.
A little shabby around the edges perhaps, but perfectly acceptable for me for the price.
Staff were very friendly
We've stayed at the Russell many times and always find the staff helpful and the rooms spacious and comfortable. The location is good, being close to the town centre, and pleasant, being near the common.
It is an old building so one shouldn't expect all mod cons, but the furnishings and decor could do with an update.
Liked the mini kitchen in the room.
Wasn't told about the way to lock room door, Hotel didn't have any parking permits outside in the road when car park full
Bed a bit uncomftable springs hard and lumpy.
the location of the hotel is very close to all amenities in Tunbridge Wells. the best thing about the hotel is that it has car park on site although there is no guarantee you can get a space. breakfast was included in the price - a bonus.
the hotel is very scruffy and outdated. it is a higgledy piggledy lay out with stairs all over the place. The shower /bathroom in the room I stayed in was very poor.
Clean room with a very comfortable bed.
The very loud sounds of people moving around upstairs during the night. Breakfast was good apart from the watery mushroom, which we would have liked fresh, instead of tin ones. The parking facility needs to be better signed.
Staff very friendly and exceptionally helpful.
Hotel a little on the old fashioned side but still very clean and comfortable.
It was a good 2 star hotel with what you would have expected. Breakfas was fine. Everything worked and the towels were good quality. The location was fantastic right in the middle of the town.
Car park was full on arrival but with the help of another guest squeezed into acorner.
NO NOISE INSIDE OR OUT GOOD HEATING BATH AND SHOWER
Very close to town & the Assemly Halls, but still quiet. Staff were friendly.
A 3-day business trip good location for meetings in Kent and East Sussex Close to good restaurants Good to have a fridg Great breakfast
The fixtures and fittings were a bit old and tatty
