On the Kent campus and since we had come for an open day it was ideal. Breakfast was acceptable.
Wifi didn't work.
1. Price. 2. Location (even for a ferry from Dover the following day). 3. Rural location & views (from my room at least). 4. Efficient staff on reception/well organised set up for non college visitors.
Only a few minor points. 1. On campus direction signs to Rutherford were ok, except the last hundred yards or. Reception was at other side of a car park from the access road, and not easy to spot at first. Ended up round the back of college in a cul de sac. 2. Corridor & room numbering was really difficult to figure out for a first time visitor. Altho' the reception staff member gave me verbal directions I still got a bit lost (not her fault, just my compass was wonky) & had to go back to re check. Perhaps a simple map/diagram/floor plan for new arrivals ? 3. Could not access the wi fi at any time during my stay (some problem with security access authority settings). And no ethernet cable in the room, as advertised at time of booking. By the time I discovered the latter, reception had closed. Bit inconvenient as I was on a business trip & could have done with internet access that night. But I had time to borrow a cable before departure the following morning, and got caught up ok. Very minor gripes indeed, but worth pointing out, and they wouldn't stop me booking again.
Comfortable, clean and decent room. Lovely campus with easy access by bus to Canterbury. Canteen excellent, breakfast included was a bonus as it was enough to keep you going all day. Evening meals ditto. Parking for free with permit also good.
A good clear plan of where things were, about twice the size of the one I found, would be helpful, as it took time to find the bus stop, cinema, atm etc.
Room size. Breakfast. Nice campus to stay on.
Lady who checked us in was closing reception 15 mins early when we got there, if we had been any later it would have been closed. She wasn't very welcoming and helpful either.
The facilities on site are simply magnificent in every respect
The location which is too difficult for a stranger to Canterbury to sort out
The campus has a very nice atmosphere, I am quite happy I choose this accommodation. The college itself was not crowded at all, everything was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was quite good.
The staff was giving me contradictory answer to a request. Although the first lady confirmed me I can leave my luggage there after I checked out so that I can go for a sight-seeing, the second day they refused it.
Dated but clean single room. 25mins walk into town. Less than £2 on the bus 4 or 6. Hearty breakfast, lots of food.
Shower cubicles are small and separate toilet didnt have a sink. Have to wash hands in the room.
Excellent value for money See a uni campus from inside and savour the atmosphere Tea and coffee making facilities in room Full English or continental breakfast included
Very simply furnished rooms W-LAN difficult to implement Not within walking distance of city centre or shops/restaurants
Safety Cleaniness Delightful surroundings privacy
the effort of getting to and from city but used my travel card for bus and walked
The fire alarm went off at around midnight, during the sleep. Everybody had to evacuate and stay outside for 20 minutes ! Either the system is not in good working order or some students smoke in the rooms!!! Very disappointed and bad marks.
It was in a silent green place, though quite far from the heart of the city, breakfast was very good
Location, parking and excellent breakfast. Free wifi on campus.
Finding your room. Place is confusing. A few guests wandering round holding their maps trying to find their rooms.
Well organised with good helpful. staff. Breakfast included. Free parking. Convenient for Dover. Good value
A little far from the city and no en suite. But that is reflected in the price.
Spacious single room Well equipped Quiet Good breakfast.
Geography of the college is hard to work out at first. Nearest shower was cold, one further along corridor was fine. Loos on the corridor don't have a washbasin. Breakfast starts a bit late when starting work at 8.45am
Had a grest time staying here. Facilities were great and comfortable with private toilet and shower.
Personally I found the mattress a little hard but had a good nights sleep. Also found the key fobs a little fiddly.
The views overlooking Canterbury, as always, especially with the Cathedral lit up at night. So much has changed over the years with the expansion of the campus, and for the better; also with the main colleges and Senate, Library etc., being recognisable, I was able to re-live the wonderful years I had at Kent Uni.
Just a simple couple of things which might help, I hope. Explaining to the guest, at Reception, how the key fob works would have been a kindness - even with the written instructions already provided, as trying to handle my cases and then not knowing what to do required my returning to Reception to ask! A second pillow would be really appreciated - perhaps I should have asked; not sure! And a selection of breads and preparations of eggs (rather than just fried) would have helped make a good selection of breakfast offerings that much better. None of the above marred my stay - but may help to shift the experience from 'good' to 'very good'.
Receptionist was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Good value for money.
Trying to find my room. Very confusing getting around inside the college.
comfortable room tea facilities wi-fi in room good dining facilities spare glass in room good toiletries
no map of college no toast at breakfast shower a bit tatty
Simple no frills room reflected in price. Quiet room go a good nights sleep.
Communal shower. Unhealthy breakfast offfered.
Near historic city and some beautiful countryside.
Very clean room
Toilet, shower and sink were separate
very nice stay, food was good aswell
I came here to stay 2 nights for my graduation and I had a better room and services compared to when I lived at Rutherford College few years back. It was a nice & familiar environment and I enjoyed the quietness in my corridor.
It is Beautiful located, the room clean and nice and the breakfast was generous. I would recommended it my friends.
A better map and notice when you book where Rutherford college is located. I walked around for over 30 minutes to find it and the reception. Partlly my own fault, but it would be helpful with a notice when yoy book.
