Score from 605 reviews Fabulous
It was nice of them to lay another table for us as my husband could not manage the stairs down to the dining room. The waiter we had that night was very polite and helpful. So was the waitress in the morning. The film was good too.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable
The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant Everyone was polite and helpful
A common negative of many hotels is that there is no 'Cooler'. I'm being a little picky, but I like a glass of cold water (not from tap) first thing in the morning.
The staff at the hotel were a breath of fresh air, my visit was due to a family member being in the hospital next door and we have visited previously when she was an inpatient so my needs were minimal (a bed). The wifi connection was excellent, temperature of the room self regulating, I dislike overly hot rooms. Excellent service and hotel at a very stressful time for me. I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the area.
If I was being picky the shower tiles need either regrouting or a mould cleaner using on them, but the water was hot and shower powerful. I ordered a sandwich which didn't arrive, slightly annoying after a very long stressful post operative day but, this was very politely, quickly and efficiently rectified and my account was refunded for the inconvenience, can't ask for more.
A bit noisy at night
Convenient location for us. Good breakfast. Quiet. Friendly staff. Large, clean room.
Car park rather small, with visitors parking poorly. Rather expensive. Bit like a rabbit warren - needs better signing.
Good location, good rooms, good breakfast
The staff were professional and dealt with my complaint efficiently and comprehensively without making a fuss. Your reception staff were 10/10! The breakfast was good, and again the staff were efficient and friendly.
My complaint centered around the the cleanliness of the room. The sink was dirty, there were several cobwebs next to the extractor in the bedroom, and a hair extension on the carpet next to the wardrobe. The décor in the hotel all looked a bit tired, and where paintwork was chipped and wallpaper ripped, no attempt had been made to repair it. Mould in the wet room also needs to be removed - it was a bit too cold in there!
Sharp knife with breakfast Roomy shower Could park
I just think the price was abit too high but it's fine.
I didn't like the tv because it wasn't letting me do much,
Car parking can be stressful when the hotel is busy
The heating is a problem because it's an old building, I did hve dome one come and look at my room , but they couldn't get the towel rail in the bathroom working, so it remained cold.
Close to University accommodation as we were visiting a student.
Poky room, room door would not lock from the inside so our toddler kept "escaping" out the room and up the stairs! Breakfast wasn't great to be honest and definitely not worth £10. We didn't bother going to breakfast the 2nd morning but we were charged anyway as we had booked it.
Quick check in
To many stairs ,cold on corridors ,rubbish and dirty linen left on corridor, cobwebs in room and dusty.ordered breakfast started to eat my cereal and then my breakfast arrived, toast was brought before I had been for my cereal.had to ask for a cup to have a drink.no one in the bar at 3.30pm to get a drink in the cold conservatory all in all a very poor experience
Good location and facilities. Rustic ambient.
Quite overpriced. The single room was extremely small.
I stayed for two nights at the hotel and the neither was the bed made up nor was the room cleaned. I thought making up the bed and cleaning the rooms was included in the price.
Local ideal Staff very friendly Room was clean and modern
Staff were nice and bed was comfortable.
Dirty reception windows needed a wash and floor had rubbish and leaves everywhere. Rooms needed updating. And people were smoking in the rooms which really made the hotel smell. Very poor for a 4 star and very over priced.
Room was spacious and clean. Mattress was a memory foam and comfortable. Bathroom was nice and bright but could do with a shelf to put toiletries on. Good heating in the bathroom and bedroom. Flat screen TV on the wall meant it wasn't in the way cluttering up the side.
Some of the decor was a bit dated. Room decorated in executive fashion and felt very masculine and lighting was a bit dark. Noisy floorboards and quite a bit of going up stairs then going down again to get to room.
Lovely room. Bathroom was huge. Breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly. Enjoyed our stay.
Toilet really high. Breakfast too expensive (£10 a little excessive).
Staff friendly and very helpfull
within walking distance of university limited parking reasonable price
bed dipped in middle receptionist on leaving did not ask if I had enjoyed my stay
Friendliness of staff
Room too warm but I asked for a fan and it was delivered immediately
Close to where my children were staying, barley a kilometer away
Bed sunk in after sleeping in it for a while. I had to keep shifting. No air-conditioning with only a small window available and when opened, there was quite a bit of road noise.
