The Rutland Hotel    

Hotelli oli rauhallinen ja mukavalla paikalla. Sopivan etäisyyden päässä keskustasta, mutta lähellä vierailukohdettani. Yöllä sai nukkua rauhassa, mitään meteliä ei kuulunut.

Aamupala olisi saanut kuulua huoneen hintaan!

Very pleasant room with all you need. For me it was close to where I wanted to be.

I thought £100 a night is very steep and an extra £10 per person for breakfast. I felt uncomfortable at breakfast not knowing how to order E.G. a vegetarian breakfast came with some foods I didn't want but I wasn't told I could just order specific food. It was only when I heard others stating exactly what they wanted!! Also for some reason I didn't get my coffee and didn't feel as though I could remind them.

Excellent breakfast, promptly served and well organised staff. Comfortable and spacious double-bed. Good parking. Very attentive staff. Good location for our friends, university and St. Marks. Quiet at night.

No toilet rolls on arrival in our room, although quickly remedied. Don't like the principle of automatically including a contribution to a charity on the bill (however small the contribution), which visitors may choose not to pay.

The fact that it was close to where we were visiting.

Just about everything else. Didn't like coming back to find the bar was 'closed' for a private party. Didn't like that I could write in the dust, especially on the back of the bathroom door. Didn't like the rusty soap dispensers. Didn't like all the steps, fortunately neither of us have any mobility issues, but if we did......

My parents had a double room which was lovely but my single room by comparison was small and pokey with a big crack in the window, and I was only paying £20/night jdpptgam them. The bathroom was very nice with a good shower (although it wasn't always terribly hot).

Bathroom was a bit cramped

Just about everything. The staff were absolutely charming, including the maintenance man with whom I had a chat about Alex Higgins! (Former snooker world champion).

Room very noisy at night! Smelt of cigarettes. Air con didnt work, windows didnt open. Blanket on bed itchy no quilt. Not very clean overpriced at £120 for one night no breakfast. Limited parking also.

Room was nice, food in the bar area was good, service was good and staff were friendly.

Room needed a vacuum behind the seating and up high, just little details that you would expect from an executive room.

Comfortable; easy access to university and central Sheffield; parking available either in the carpark, or on street for a reasonable rate; cost is reasonable.

It took some time to work out how the shower worked in Room 4. I think some instructions (left on the dressing table to be read before removing glasses!) might help.

Good breakfast and excellent receptionist.

The stairways and landing need to be revamped to bring them into line with the rest of the hotel The net curtains in one of our rooms were torn and dull (miner thing really)

Closeness to University and the staff.

Delightful staff throughout, and apart from failing to respond to my first request for the problems with my room to be sorted, the problems were later remedied and I received an upgrade to a warmer room without asking for it. Lovely breakfast.

There were small details which spoiled the full experience - small holes in bed linen, the coverlet in the first bedroom was stained and not entirely clean. The window in the first room could not be fully closed - that was obviously a long-standing problem, but this was not a budget room and I was a little surprised.

I had a very relaxing night, even enjoyed a sit out in the garden before it went dark. the staff were very friendly and helpful

No breakfast was included. It would be nice to have just a minimal ammount to eat included. A croissant does not cost much....

Friendly staff, superb food. Had two excellent breakfasts, a very good value and deliscious bar snack (cheesy nachos - £3) and a wonderful evening meal - exceptional quality and value for money. Rooms were eccentric in decor but celan and comfortable.

If I'm being picky my husband said there was no shaver charger, but I didn't care!

Our room was quite a way from reception and due to design of hotel had to navigate suitcases over various stairways!

I paid £140 for the room and the bathroom was tiny and the net curtains were a disgrace, they really do need cleaning. Wasnt up to standards.

The receptionists eager to please and helpful. Needed tio leave luggage whilst attending hospital appointment --no problem whatsoever!

Breakfast Although we were later arrivals( my grand daughter ,a student at the Uni came to join me) sadly we were not made very welcome and the food had so obviously been kept warm from who knows when, was dried uo apart from our poached eggs which had to be freshly cooked. Four people arrived after us!!

Beds were comfy and reception staff and some waitress' were friendly.

Attention to detail poor, only one mug in the room no teaspoon. Admittedly the weather was extremely cold but the heating was in sufficient and our room was chilly. When arriving for breakfast, the table was only laid for one, no one offered to relay and our breakfast was served with still no cutlery. We were rushed to finish our food. The following morning was a very different and positive experience. I'm not sure about the 4 star or should that be 4 rosettes?? Not worth £100 per night when the travel lodge by meadow hall achieves the same standard for far less.
