Ryde Castle could be stunning if the owners would spend some money on the refurbishment it so badly needs. The staff are friendly and hard working. The breakfast was good and of generous proportions but the seats you sit on to eat it are badly worn and stained. The bedroom furniture is such a mix that it appears to have come from a boot sale and we pulled the curtains very gently as they appeared not to have been cleaned - ever! Having said that the bed had clean white linen and was comfy but you used the bathroom only when you had to - without any enjoyment - cork floors and a shabby shower.

The location is excellent as it is very close to the beach to the railway and bus stations also the passenger ferry terminal and very close to the main shopping street. Its location is ideal for those who wish to explore the island and all the various delights that the island has to offer, either by car or public transport. The hotel is in need of money spending on it in terms of redecoration which I understand is in the early stages of planning. I would welcome a revisit to see what improvements may ensue.

Excellent location and looks impressive. Very friendly receptionist. Bed and bedlinen was comfortable. Very tired. Bathroom grubby. Walls paper thin. Got the fright of my life when the people in the next room plugged something in-the noise was outrageous. Breakfast was very poor-how do you poach an egg and end up with a brown exterior? I avoided eating after that.

Good location, just next to the seafront. Helpful and supportive staff. Tasty food. Good size of car park. Clean bedroom. Bedroom was small and did look very tired. Furniture also old and worn out. Window cracked and one part of the glass missing (plastic or cardboard instead). There is not lift, lot of stairs and narrow corridol so it is challanging to bring luggage to your room.

The staff were all very pleasant and the breakfasts and a couple of meals we had at the hotel were very nice and good value. The location was good. Nice white good size towels. It is badly in need of refurbishment - the double bedroom we had was very small and the furniture was very shabby. The windows are in a bad state with broken panes in our room - it had a depressing feel to it. It is a shame because it could be really nice hotel. If we had known how bad the standard room was going to be we would have paid the supplement for a better room but unfortunately there were none of those rooms available when we arrived.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The bedrooms were too hot, the plumbing was pretty awful and the rooms could have done with a small fridge.

Always a good breakfast to get us ready for a day at the Festival. All staff were friendly. The location was perfect for our plans for getting to the festival and only a short walk from Ryde Pierhead. Food in brasserie was good and the outside spaces were nice to enjoy when the sun comes out and we were pleased with the seaview - made a difference to wake up to that view. There was free wi fi which as also a really good bonus. The hotel has some nice quirky characteristics I think it could just with bringing up to date with some newer furnishings/curtains and TVs (even just to get freeview in the rooms would be a good).. The shower was also a little poor. The hotel itself has some nice characteristics and again keeping the old and modernising it a little would make a big differemce.

The bar and patio for lunch was excellant.Evening menu and main restaraunt were also very good as was the breakfast.Prices were quite reasonable. Hotel furnishings seemed a bit tired and in general a refurbishment seems neccessary.

The location is excellent, it is very close to transportation and beautiful Ryde sandy beach. The front staff Emma was so helpful, she made our trip! Ourt room had a big size four poster bed and beautiful sea view. The bedding was also very comfortable, they have a good duvet and fresh linen. Their bar and garden are so lovely place, they have small sand play area for children which gives family to have very relaxing time. We loved their Pimms and good choice of food. Children also really like this hotel. We difinately would like to stay here for next trip to Isle of Wight. Thank you Emma!

The location was the best thing about the hotel, right opposite the beach. Breakfast was also very good with a wide variety to choose from. The family rooms were very big. This hotel was over priced! The hotel is in desperate need of repair and i dont know how they get away with charging these ridiculous prices! Our first night was terrible as they had a party going on in their function room. Our room was directly above it, which is not good when you have a 7 month old baby! It was like we were above a nightclub. The music went on from 6pm-12.30am. The next day they had a wedding going on, which ment everyone else got ignored! Food was then not available at certain times and you could not walk past certain areas.

I found the staff to be very friendly and accomadating and the food in the resturant was very good. My main issues were relating to the state of the rooms as the door to the room could be pushed open as the lock was loose and the bathroom was in a pretty bad state of repair with rotten wood work, toilt that did not flush, bath that did not drain. At night the boiler that was situated right out side the window of one of our rooms sounded like a areoplane taking off.I really do think that a bit off time and money should be spent returning the building back to its former glory.

Very convenient for a 1 night stay - directly opposite Ryde Pier. We were going on to stay somewhere else. People are friendly, food of the standard you would expect, good breakfast in a large room. We had previously stayed here 2 years back in a much bigger room. This time our room was small, rather shabby. One dirty chair in it. The whole place was looking a bit shabby needs brightening up. The room 108 was small but could have been a bit brighter. However, the bed was clean & comfortable ok for the 1 night.

The food was very good Our room was discribed as a superior room ,but the top of the four poster bed and on the fire detector had a layer of dust which I tried to clean off ,as my wife has chronic asthma. The floorboards are very noisy

The food was delicious and perfectly cooked - a varied menu and well priced. The sea view was beautiful and the history of the building was charming. The bed was very comfortable and all amenities of the town were close by. Whilst the hotel was perfectly clean, the decor was a bit tired - new bathroom fittings and a lick of paint would have made it a 10 out 10 visit instead of an 8 out of 10 but it didn't take away from our enjoyment of our weekend.

Friendly staff, clean room, nice location. Breakfast was very good. The shower in my room (14) was almost useless: water trickled out. As I only stayed one night, wasn't a major issue however.
