Superb helpful and considerate attitude of Laura and Michelle. Quiet location. Pleasant public rooms. Individually cooked and tasty breakfast. Ample car parking.
Location Quiet = good night sleep Breakfast Bar Meal Friendly staff Free wifi
Electric heater not central heating Clothes left in wardrobe (I made reception aware of this) Tiny bathroom
Laura, who did all she could to help guests. A lovely young lady. Very good breakfast
Room not very clean, cramped and dated. Bathroom scruffy with mould on the tiles. Room not serviced so we came in to wet towels, which had left in the unheated and badly ventilated bathroom, dirty cups, unmade bed, no replacement loo roll or coffee or toiletries, full bins. No staff on duty. They said they had lost the key but made no effort to contact us or leave supplies or wait to greet us.
we have stayed here on many occasions now - it is convenient and value for money,
a box of tissues and a clock in the room would have been good!!
Staff welcoming and helpful. Very clean. Warm and comfortable. Homely
Food and atmosphere
Rooms need a bit redecoration
FRIENDLY STAFF AND A GOOD BREAKFAST
Evening meal - excellent. Nice bar area with good beer. Quiet location with easy access into Newcastle and Metro Centre New owner keen to find out what can be improved
Cups too small - need mugs - they're now on the new owners shopping list! Wifi very weak in bedroom - good in bar - forgot to mention this when I checked out
The hotel was very quiet - something that is vital, in our opinion. Too many stag and hen do's in inner Newcastle hotels has put us off staying more centrally. This really fitted the bill. Very comfortable beds AND pillows and an excellent breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will return!
Our only criticism would be the bathroom. It was very clean, but there was a leak somewhere that meant a wet floor every time we showered.
hotel was good staff very friendly laura was very helpful goog nature also bar staff
bar/seating could be more comftable. starters not very good for the price?
Friendly and helpful manager and staff, a nice feel to the establishment. Would stay again when in the area.
Although everything was there it was a slightly small room for a double. (22).
Close proximity to Metro centre, clean welcoming place with friendly and helpful staff
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food is very good and reasonably priced.
Took a while for the room to warm up.
Staff very friendly and helpful Excellent breakfast Bar meals good value Very good value
Some areas of the hotel need a little TLC but this doesn't spoil your visit.
Excellent value for money. Nice cosy hotel
Shower was a bit of a problem
Very friendly staff, nice welcome. comfortable room, Good breakfast.
Creaking floor boards in corridor.
wonderful breakfast friendly staff
pillows too flat
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful.
We were hiking Hadrian's Wall path and it was quite a hike to get to House, but well worth it when we got there.
Peaceful and relaxing.
Chair in room in need of repair or replaced otherwise all good.
Friendly staff and cosy setting. Would definitely return.
Food Friendly attentive staff Value for money Breakfast
Staff socialising in the bar
WE LIKED THE SURROUNDINGS AND THE PEACE AND QUIET, A NICE PLACE TO RELAX. ALSO THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
THE ONLY THING WAS THERE IS NOT MUCH ROOM IN THE BATHROOM AS FAR AS THE TOILET WAS CONCERNED, OTHERWISE WAS GOOD.
FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF/GOOD CONVERSATION WITH STAFF/FOOD EXCELLENT FROM BOTH RESTAURANT AND BAR MENU/VERY CLEAN/ EASY ACCESS TO PLACES OF INTEREST/ALL ROUND A VERY ENJOYABLE FEW DAYS.
Close to Newcastle and Metrocentre on a well signposted route so easy to find. The welcome on arrival was warm and informative. I stayed in room 22 which is on the corrider that is marked rooms 9 to 21... a bit of a worry that room 22 might actually just be a converted cupboard but it was fine. The last room on the corridor but very much a proper room. The room was clean and well stocked with everything you need. The kettle, cups etc were hidden in the cupboard but were there unlike a previous review that reported there was no tea/coffee making facilities. A small television but adequate for a nights stay. Three lamps rather than an overhead light but adequate lighting to read by. Curtains were thick and lined so wasn't disturbed by the sun in the morning. Towels were large enough to wrap around you (my pet hate is hotels using small bath towels rather than bath sheets). Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order and very tasty served on a red hot plate and a choice of yoghurts, cereals and fruit if you prefer a lighter option to a fry up. Juice (out of a carton sadly) and hot beverages were available.
The electric heater in the room. The central heating wasnt switched on so a heater had been supplied. It was efficent at heating the room but very noisy doing so. As room 22 is right next to the fire exit you notice the drop in temperature in the corridor and slightly in the room so had to use the heater. I had an evening meal in the bar area. which was value for money and more than adequate. However the menu stated hand cut chips and they weren't they were frozen. I am always looking for places to go for a nice meal in the area but to tempt me to give somewhere a try there has to be something on the menu that I can't or don't cook for myself at home.... I rarely eat chips but the 'hand cut' tempted me to give it a go...Was so disappointed when frozen chips appeared in front of me. This is not so much a criticism of the hotel but maybe a member of staff should be present during breakfast... I would have appreciated someone stepping in to politely tell the rude woman at another table who insisted on using her mobile phone at breakfast. Did I really have to be made to listen to your conversation with Mel in Australia throughout breakfast... I think not! This isn't really a criticism of the hotel but I would have appreciated a member of staff stepping in to speak to the extremely rude woman sat at breakfast who insisted on using her mobile during breakfast... did I really have to listen to you telling Mel in Australia what you had been up to over the weekend.
