Excellent customer service. Yes it may need a little updating but can not complain about the cleanliness of the bedrooms, bed was comfy, no noise at night and the food was excellent Would definitely recommend

Single room was comfortable and good value for money. Staff were very helpful and friendly and willing to go the extra mile.

Breakfast service was a bit slow, and cold. Would have really liked tea and coffee facilities in the room.

This is a traditional type of hotel with traditional decor. However, this did not bother me. The location was fantastic for access to the place that I was working in but was about 15 minutes away from central Newcastle. Friendly and helpful staff, easy parking, felt really homely for single people, Good but simple range of food in the bar and separate restaurant. Cooked breakfast included in the very reasonable room price.

Bathroom could do with a bit of updating.

The staff were great, welcoming and friendly at all times and nothing was to much trouble. Good choice of breakfast options.

There are parts of the accommodation which look a bit "tired" but the renovations planned for January 2015 will address these areas I have no doubt.

    Really comfortable and welcoming.

Maybe too few staff for a full dining room.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful. The breakfast (included in the price) was excellent. We enjoyed a pleasant drink in the bar but didn't try the bar food.

The sound-proofing between rooms was not so good. We could hear the conversation of guests in an adjacent room.

Clean bed linen. Quiet room. Good value bar meals.

The place is in need of major refurbishment and redecoration. To be fair the current owners haven't been there long but it needs a major injection of cash. Bathroom very shabby, over bath shower not high enough and the worlds smallest bath! Small things too like no croissants for breakfast 2 days in a row and if you serve fresh coffee it mustn't be stewed.

The two girls on duty appeared to be running the place by themselves, running madly around trying to be at the front desk and do all else - perhaps they were understaffed that day but I felt sorry for them ...

Awful wifi, slow or non-existant. Single room so small you could barely sit on the toilet. Worst of all if you needed to have the window open because of the heat, you heard a whine from a generator until the wee hours.

I have been staying at this hotel for two decades on and off. It has just changed hands and the new owner has great plans for the future. Service and bar food is very good and as I had to leave early bacon sandwiches were waiting for me at Reception. Secure parking is also a useful feature when you have a car full of the kids university stuff. I think it is good value at the current price and would encourage anyone to give it a go.

Decore and rooms are in need of a refresh. But I believe this is in the new owners plans.
