Excellent restaurant and very good value

The rooms and very comfortable. The breakfast menu is very good and we also had bar food on the Sunday night and it was lovely.

A good central location. Good food and comfortable room. Friendly and efficient staff.

Street noise in the early hours from itinerant young drunks; a problem of society not the hotel and sadly to be expected in a central location at the weekend.

Two things: Finding that the restaurant was not open (on Sunday evening) and steepness of lower stairs

Really helpfull friendly staff, the hotel had lots of character and there was car parking in a town..free of charge!

The rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. Lovely bathroom! The staff were all very polite and friendly. The food was good..

The family lounge was closed whilst we were there for a private party which meant since we had to wait for a while it was a choice of the room or the bar. However this is a minor complaint.

the boiler broke down, which unusually made the hotel very cold at night ,and the lack of shower was awkward ,but this is very unusual for this hotel which I have stayed in over 50 times

It is conveniently located in town centre and has a lot of character. It has its own car park.

Excellent facilities, food, and friendly staff. Bathrooms and rooms immaculate. Interesting historical building.

Noise from nightclub revellers kept us awake until 3 am, and then we were wide awake and unable to get back to sleep! We were glad to only be staying one night for that reason alone. Everything else was marvellous.

Very hospitable and warm, with plenty of space and the best scrambled eggs and smoked haddock for breakfast, that I have had for years....

Bit noisy at night and floorboards creaky (but only to be expected as it is very old!)

Clean recently decorated room and bathroom. Comfortable beds.Warm and spacious.Close to theatre and shops which was important for us.

A bit noisy outside when nightclubs closed but this was to be expected as we purposely chose a central hotel !

Friendly staff, lovely ambience, everywhere was clean and tidy and the breakfast was excellent with a good and varied choice. A perfect location in the centre of Hertford, it represents first class value for money

Beds comfy, quite good breakfast, right in centre of town but had a car park. Hertford is a very attractive town to visit.

We stayed Saturday night and there was some noise in the middle of the night from outside (drunken revellers!). Suppose that is the downside of a town centre location. Probably less likely mid-week.

Friendly staff

Beautiful building, very attentive staff, wonderful breakfast.

Difficult to control the temperature in my room, but it was a cheap room in the roof and there was an electric heater. It just took a few attempts to get the setting right.
