Friendly staff sea views
Couldn't open the windows. A bit smelly in the hotel
The staff were friendly and the location is perfect for a short stay facing the sea. The breakfast, included in the very modest price, was good. There is a bar in the hotel, and children are welcome there.
Our room smelled extremely musty, so much so that we had to wash our clothes when we got home. The bathroom was badly repaired and painted, and the extractor fan did not work. The bedclothes were clean, but the beds themselves were very stained and you could feel the springs in your back. I hate to be negative, and the staff did their best, but the place badly needs tidying and decorating.
Stately looking hotel in prime location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room was dark, basic and very functional and didn't feel very clean - I didn't look too closely. The carpet was stained, the bathroom had only a rubber hand shower fitted on the taps and no shower curtain, there was no remote for the TV.
nothing really - location wasnt bad
room was really run down, there were only 2 plug sockets in the the room, the bedside lamp was there, but wasnt plugged in as no where near a plug socket. window was wedged open, couldnt close it - curtains stained, door was scratched, carpet was incredibly old - everything was in really bad condition.
Convenient for Le Shuttle
Lift didn't work. Key didn't work at first. Dog eared paper notices everywhere. Needs serious paint work and attention. Everything looks and feels worn out.
Firstly the staff is friendly, we liked the location as it is sea facing, while reaching the seashore there are few activities that can be done.
Cheerful and helpful staff. Easy walk into town centre. Breakfast served quickly.
Only one pillow and rubber shower attachment to bath taps did not work. Carpet in bedroom needed a clean.
Cheap accommodation.good breakfast
Rooms need redecorating
Very shabby hotel needs a of care and attention to bring up to standard i.e. new carpets, furniture etc
Where it was situated and that's all.
walking through hotel, there was old worn furniture with rips in and stains on chairs, stains on ceilings from leaks, worn carpets...just run down. Our room was freezing, you could not shut the double glazed window because it was broken and being stopped by lumps of wood. there were tiles on floor in bathroom coming off, there were old coffee stains on wall and door, there was just 1 x very thin blanket on our beds,it was just awful.Never again !!!
Everything, filthy, smelly disgusting windows filthy, curtains hanging off, milk off in room
We loved the hotel's location and situation of the room we were allocated. The view out over The English Channel was superb, day and night. The bed was very comfortable.
It is, as many people before us said, a very tired hotel. It is obviously in need of some upgrading. If not, why did our room not have bedside tables, or lights? Very awkward in the middle of the night to have to stumble around in the dark. The carpet in the room was dreadfully faded, and the kettle did not work properly - it was necessary to hold the switch down to get it to boil. Breakfasts were OK, but with very little choice. Car parking was very hit and miss, although we did manage to find a space usually.
Beds are comfortable, staff very friendly, prices are cheap, breakfasts good value, wi fi available
decor awful, window in room didn't fit and wouldn't close, few plug points, no bed side light, shabby and ceiling lampshade filthy, curtain lacking hooks and wouldn't block out light or close properly
The position, the large room, the sea view.
water dripping from the ceiling when it rained.
the rooms needed a a lick of paint, the beds were tattered at the base the lounge arwa was all thrown together the staff that was on duty that night was scruffily dressed and non helpful
Nothing apart from location to venue we were attending
It was dirty and tatty old rubber hose on bath tape as shower not exceptable .only basin in bedroom not bathroom . Light above mirror not working couldnt wait to leave
The welcome from the staff
Much needed refurb - the bathroom was awful and the hall and stair carpets threadbare in parts, needed updating from the 1950's unfortunately.
This is a poor example of a basic hotel Not expecting much for the price and this hotel delivered
The staff were friendly and it was located on the coast.
The room was dirty. The toilet was filthy. The flooring was coming away in the bathroom. There were old, opened packets of tea on the tea-making tray. The lighting was very poor with only one working. The TV didn't work. The curtains didn't close.
no shower in the morning as broken and cold water
Staff were very helpful and friendly. View from bedroom was fabulous. Bed was comfy. Everything was very clean. Shower functioned well. Breakfast was plentiful, tasty and served with a smile. Entry very late at night was not a problem.
The hotel is clearly in need of an injection of cash to renovate / re-decorate / repair some very tired parts eg curtain rail was broken in my room, ceiling stained and peeling from previous water damage and shower head broken away from wall encrusted with limescale but it worked fine, the curtains closed and the ceiling didn't fall down! The general toilets in the basement were disgustingly messy and the hotel overall is looking shabby BUT I was well looked after and would go there again.
Close to Dover ferries.
Rooms were dirty, shower didn't work, bed looked and felt like it was an original from the building of the hotel.
There was a bar and the staff were friendly and English.
Room was very tired looking and smelly due to a leaky shower. This was reported and we were moved to another room with no leak.
The location is really good, very close to the Leas / sea front. Nice views.
Delapidated / rooms urgently need redecorating. Not very clean. Beds were very uncomfortable and need to be replaced.
