Comfortable and very clean however staff need training. The fire alarm went off in the early hours and the girl on duty obviously had no idea what to do. However the manageress assured me she would make sure they all had training on fire evacuation procedures.
Beds v comfortable
No wi-fi in bedroom.
Staff Location Comfort
The Wi Fi was not working when I stayed here I was not provided with shower gel
An easy walk to town - plenty of places of get a drink & a meal
No wifi was a major problem for us luckily Terry at McDonalds helped us out. Bed was a little soft
Easy to log in and helpful staff.
Close to town very useful after a big birthday bash night out. The given key was able to open the main door so getting locked out wasn't a problem. Breakfast although was a bit small was freshly cooked and really tasty.
Couldn't get on the wifi but didn't really stay in for long
The staff were friendly and very helpful. Also the hotel is really close to the centre of Taunton and very near to the gorgeous Vivary Park.
Breakfast was nice but options limited.
Room at the front too hot and unable to open window due to traffic noise. Could not log into wifi
Location excellent for town Shopping and access to main road. Excellent breakfast.
No soap in bathroom upon arrival. No shelf for toothbrush etc.
Busy, noisy road outside
Highly recommended -great location -off road parking -very quiet rooms
Breakfast was good.
Could not sleep as the room was very hot.
Location convenient for downtown Taunton. Breakfast fine. Clean. The rooms have been modernised with basic but useful furniture. Not fancy at all, which suits me.
Wifi was patchy. A bit of traffic noise, but only to be expected in that location.
Friendly efficiency, they remembered our request re bedding, we had lovely white sheets & wool blankets.
Would have liked soap in the basin.
breakfast very good My brother in law could not sleep (room 7) to noisy , but as soon as he mentioned this to the manageress he was changed to room 1 and had a great nite sleep .delighted to be able to attend mass 8am on sun morning right next door to hotel excellent location for shops and pubs
Bar very tiny and expensive
Very clean and tidy.
No air conditionining. The room was stifling hot even with the windows open. The heat was so bad that I did not get a wink of sleep all night.
The Victorian characteristics retained but very clean and modern comforts added
On a main road, no garden
Good comfortable hotel within walking distance of the town centre so no parking charges or taxi fares to pay. Good breakfast to start the day.
Nothing to dislike, bearing in mind our requirements.
Clean room and friendly staff, nice, well cooked breakfast
Our room was at the top of the house and the stairs are steep - and many! The room was very hot and the noise of the traffic right through the night was disturbing - couldn't close the window it was way too hot. Desk had bits of trim obviously previously glued back in place but peeling off - caught my tights on it!
The location is close to the town and the lovely Vivary Park. Our room was clean and very adequate. The whole place was beautifully decorated and furnished The breakfast was good.
The only downside was the traffic noise. The hotel is on a very busy road and our room was on the ground floor and very close to the road. We had to have the window open because of the heat and the early morning traffic noise was annoying. Would be tolerable if the window was shut and there was some air conditioning.
I liked the room as it was spacious
I was put in a ground floor room which as a single woman I didn't like as I didn't feel safe to open the windows and it was very hot.
Staff was helpful, clean large rooms, nice break from cramped quarters...good breakfast recommended.
Able to book at short notice
Room was rather hot. Had no way of cooling it down unless we opened a window. Then had the noise of the road to contend with.
The friendliness and professionalism of the limited staff that were present who made tremendous efforts to ensure all clients were well looked after and succeeded!!
It is on the inner ring road close to the Town Centre but inevitably a bit noisy when you open the window. The fittings are good and the hotel is clean and I slept well. The cooked breakfast was good.
The hotel had no personality-a brisk and efficient welcome rather then a personal one and at breakfast the only server did not chat:probably more of an issue for those on their own. The room I had was "compact". I hate plastic packet marmalade and jams and sliced supermarket bread. as ever the toast came before the cooked breakfast. A few changes and it could earn its current misleading rating on your website of "very good".
