The estate was a wonderful surprise with beautiful grounds and interesting museum in main building. Wonderful dinner in restuarant on premises, from snacks to full dinners.
Rooms were spotlaessly clean a little compact but had everything you needed. The staff were very curtious and polite.
Lack of a bath. The temperature in the accomodation block was tooo high with the design of windows not very accessible for opening.
The main building was lovely with spectacular views. Staff was super helpful and the breakfasts was very good.
My tv going off at 7.00am on a Sunday morning! The outside "blocks" are not particularly attractive but are pretty good inside the rooms.
Beautiful House and grounds. Good Food
Accomodation blocks were in a different class - far below the Main house.
Everything works in every room that I've stayed in. I can relax after a day's work. The staff are so friendly and pleasant.
The location and complex is stunning. The rooms small, functional, and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a really good night's sleep.
My Tomtom satnav didn't like the postcode, and took me to a locked gate, but the entrance was down a side road a couple of hundred metres away.
Bed was comfortable, which is one of the most important factors for me. complimentary tea and coffee in room and toiletries. Very powerful shower. Very clean throughout.Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked croissants was what sealed the deal with me. Interesting place to stay with it's own museum of the hotel, which was once a stately home. Beautiful views from dining area. Bar lounge and Patio.
Accommodation a little far away from the main hotel. But considering everything else, for me, the walk was worth it.
All staff were approachable and friendly, there sole intent was to ensure that I had a pleasant stay. The menu was diverse, a choice for every taste, the food was cooked to perfection with a reasonable wait to boot - a great dining experience! The accommodation block being away from the main building was not a hindrance, it simply allowed me to view the extensive grounds that the hotel plays host to. I may have missed this opportunity if I was staying in the main building. I will quite simply say, I will be visiting again.
I would change this section to 'improve' rather than didn't like. A larger range of toiletries to be made more widely available or the very least awareness of where to purchase them. A very small comment on what was a fabulous evening, thank you!
Amazing location, staff and will go back again - definitly in the summer!
The room was actually in a 60's block around the back which I didnt feel was made clear in the outset.
Recently taken over and making progress. Good breakfast. Good spot to break the journey home from the Chunnel. Has real potential.
Accommodation presented as a hotel but more aligned to student accommodation.
I will definately be staying here again, and have already recommended it to my colleagues Beautiful place.
Welcome was lovely. Room plenty big enough. Breakfast fine. Staff very helpful Interesting place to visit
Only improvements would be ramped access to accommodation block and better bread at breakfast (let down the quality of the breakfast).
Lovely old house with bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff
Bedrooms are in prefabricated buildings away from the main house. The blocks reminded us of student accommodation, and although the rooms were comfortable they didn't fit with the rest of the hotel.
Staff were extremely helpful, and couldn't do enough to help. Mike the night concierge/receptionist was brilliant and really made the difference.
Breakfast in the conservatory was ok but nothing special. Pity that there were no accommodation rooms in the main building, rooms were in a 1970's annex which was fine but a bit tired.
excellent service at Reception and in the Dining Room in the evening. lovely clean and recently appointed bedrooms. excellent location with great view from Conservatory.
Breakfasts sadly were rather mediocre and to be honest not as good as the Premier Inn. plates for hot breakfast were cold because hot plate not in operation. Some food was lukewarm. Utensils for vegetarian and non vegetarian food not separated. Choice of yogurts and bread rather limited.
Very kind and considerate staff. Excellent breakfast. Interesting house museum. Beautiful grounds. Comfy bed. Good water pressure in the shower. Easy access to rooms from parking. All around great stay.
No obvious deficiencies.
The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. We chose to eat at the hotel the night we arrived and the food was delicious (and well priced). When I asked for more milk cartons for the room- I was handed a basket with extra milk, tea, coffee and biscuits!! Excellent hospitality! Finally, the grounds and outside areas were magnificent and abundant with wildlife!!
The country roads to the hotel were a little frightening to drive at night (if you are not a confident driver!)
The Hotel is superb, as is the location.
Reception , don't seem to know what day it is . Do not do what they say they are going to do. Check your bill, and do not pay extra for breakfast, as on booking .com it says breakfast is included.
The history of the house, along with the free museum entry. Fantastic grounds, great house, and a lovely place to stay.
No issues with this venue. Fantastic all round.
Surroundings were very picturesque. Breakfast room well located for views.
Cold bare bathroom floor. Buildings like blocks of flats with bad sound proofing.Lilited storage space - no hooks for outdoor coats etc. Scant breakfast choice which could have been enlivened with oatcakes, pancakes, cheese and cooked meats - a better quality of fruit juice and more variety of juices.
Nice setting with plenty of parking, breakfast if you are not starting early. Single room put the cost down below some other chain hotels at an expensive time to book.
The room was okay but it still had the feel of college type accommodation even though it has been redecorated.
The grounds are fantastic, and the views. I liked the quirkiness of it. Staff friendly and helpful. The rooms, while not in the main building were up to date and adequate for needs. Bathroom was great, plenty of room. Lots of hot water. Unlimited free wifi. Full English looked tasty.
The food was limited and not that good. No easy chair to sit on - it was either the bed or an upright chair. Lack of muesli for breakfast.
The gardens and location Interesting History and museum Great food and wine choices
We loved the history of Salomons (be sure to visit the museum). The staff were very helpful and, being on our honeymoon, we even received a complimentary bottle of Pinot Gris, which was very thoughtful and totally unexpected - nice touch. The rooms were very new with modern facilities (great shower). Whilst others reviews may have expressed a critic about the accommodation block not being part of the main building, we had no problem with this at all. In fact a number a large hotels have similar set ups. The restaurant (dinner and breakfast) overlooked the magnificent garden estate, which was very nice too.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Location Room had everything that was needed for a comfortable overnight stay Breakfast Main hall Grounds
Late night noise Only one type of tea in room
