Score from 369 reviews Very good
Accommodation a bit like a "pre-fab". Old fashioned windows and room a little cool
too noisy to sleep and no hot water!
Very nice room
Nice clean room
The floorboards above you kept you wake every time the residents walked across floor. Their staff should try it sometime as you are kept awake due to the constant noise. No good if you are a light sleeper as not restful but rooms are clean and comfortable
the room breakfast ease of parking
Rooms were well equipped
The breakfast in the morning was very uninspiring
Courteous front desk, lovely estate, but you do not stay in the main building that is promoting their hotel. it would b fine for a conference
Did not expect to have to walk over 100 yards from reception to room, also expected room to be in the lovely building in their advertising photos. I could not recall that you are advised that the rate includes only a continental breakfast, until i read it in the room guide. Hot water took 10 minutes to come on, and the room was very cold with the heaters turned full on.
Room was modern, comfortable and clean although there were one or two minor points re the shower facilities.
Difficult to find. Miles away from tourist activities, shops etc. No parking near the main building - a long walk downhill to drag luggage to check-in. No room in main building. Then up a long, windy hill to a 1960's style motel-looking building with a grid-like ramp to the door. And a long walk down on a dark, rainy night in order to have a meal. I ate elsewhere! And cancelled the remainder of my stay.
Clean and comfortable
Lack of help getting to the room as a single woman. No help at all. The reception staff were good but half a mile slog up a hill with luggage........hello!!!!!
The grounds, parking nearby, location for family purposes, bedroom and bathroom were clean
Room was very small for the price, directions on site were not good, staying guests seemed to be less important than visitors to Father Christmas World, breakfast self service area not logically set out resulting in people getting in each other's way.
Comfortable room Good breakfast
Idiots running around the corridors at 4am
The rooms were very comfortable and beautifully clean. Breakfast was absolutely excellent.
Walk from car park to reception, very steep hill. Not suitable for less able people.
Historically interesting estate - beautiful scenery - friendly staff
Room in accommodation block away from the main house - Use of the Estate for Father Christmas World made the atmosphere a little chaotic.
The main buildings are superb.
Reception to the accommodation is awful! There should be some kind of assistance with the baggage. I was unfortunate to be given a too by the main entrance. The noise was continuous until early part of the morning with people congregating smoking. Awful night stay! Evening was pleasant.
The estate was a wonderful surprise with beautiful grounds and interesting museum in main building. Wonderful dinner in restuarant on premises, from snacks to full dinners.
I have stayed at this hotel several times this Autumn and had pre booked two more visits including one on 22 December. Last week I received an e-mail from the hotel saying that they have now booked a large Christmas party on 22 December and as a result neither the bar or the restaurant will be available to me on that night. This has obviously happened since I made my booking (at the beginning of October). The hotel has offered to book restaurants in the nearest town, Tunbridge Wells, but this is a good 5 miles from the hotel and neither what I expected or want. I have cancelled this and all other bookings and will not be staying at the hotel again. So beware of this hotel giving other later bookings priority over yours!
Rooms were spotlaessly clean a little compact but had everything you needed. The staff were very curtious and polite.
Lack of a bath. The temperature in the accomodation block was tooo high with the design of windows not very accessible for opening.
The main building was lovely with spectacular views. Staff was super helpful and the breakfasts was very good.
My tv going off at 7.00am on a Sunday morning! The outside "blocks" are not particularly attractive but are pretty good inside the rooms.
Beautiful House and grounds. Good Food
Accomodation blocks were in a different class - far below the Main house.
Everything works in every room that I've stayed in. I can relax after a day's work. The staff are so friendly and pleasant.
The location and complex is stunning. The rooms small, functional, and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a really good night's sleep.
My Tomtom satnav didn't like the postcode, and took me to a locked gate, but the entrance was down a side road a couple of hundred metres away.
Bed was comfortable, which is one of the most important factors for me. complimentary tea and coffee in room and toiletries. Very powerful shower. Very clean throughout.Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked croissants was what sealed the deal with me. Interesting place to stay with it's own museum of the hotel, which was once a stately home. Beautiful views from dining area. Bar lounge and Patio.
Accommodation a little far away from the main hotel. But considering everything else, for me, the walk was worth it.
All staff were approachable and friendly, there sole intent was to ensure that I had a pleasant stay. The menu was diverse, a choice for every taste, the food was cooked to perfection with a reasonable wait to boot - a great dining experience! The accommodation block being away from the main building was not a hindrance, it simply allowed me to view the extensive grounds that the hotel plays host to. I may have missed this opportunity if I was staying in the main building. I will quite simply say, I will be visiting again.
I would change this section to 'improve' rather than didn't like. A larger range of toiletries to be made more widely available or the very least awareness of where to purchase them. A very small comment on what was a fabulous evening, thank you!
Amazing location, staff and will go back again - definitly in the summer!
The room was actually in a 60's block around the back which I didnt feel was made clear in the outset.
