Saltcote Place is set in an amazing elevated location overlooking the salt marshes that extend out to Camber Sands. The Queen Anne style house is imposing, and, filled with antiques collected by the current hosts Paul and Alan over their 20-year ownership period. Breakfast is an occasion and attention to quality detail is superb. But the piece de resistance are the hosts, attentive, entertaining and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was comfortable, immaculately clean and well stocked with a lovely touch each evening, a whisky nightcap left outside the room. However, it’s the hosts that steal the show, Paul and Alan you rock!

Saltcote Place is a 5-Star Gold Award winning venue as well as being a relaxed, private residence for adults. This luxurious bed and breakfast is less than a mile from Rye Railway Station and high street. You have your own entrance to come and go as you please with free secure car parking. Breakfast is generally only two couples and includes a glass of bubbles, each evening complementary nightcaps await your return. The large private home has spacious rooms with seating areas, Excellent free Wi-Fi. The en-suite bathrooms with the option of large baths and showers. Many rooms have gorgeous views over the gardens, Camber Sands, or the town, which has cobbled streets and well-preserved buildings from the medieval, Tudor and Georgian periods. Set in a historic country town, Saltcote Place is 10 minutes’ drive from local beaches, 25 minutes from Hastings town centre and 20 miles from Ashford International Railway Station with its Eurostar trains to Paris and beyond.

Peaceful quiet and calm, we do not have children here under the age of 14. You will never see a wedding here unless you know the bride and attend as a guest. We specialise in couples celebrating anniversaries and special occasions. We never do breakfast before 9am and can be as late as 10am. If you want to arrange champagne in the suite or a romantic dinner for two please let us know. A typical weekend is just four guests, we offer secure parking within gated grounds which overcomes any parking issues which can be a challenge if you were staying within Rye citadel itself. A short walk of around 700 yards to Rye high street ensures just enough exercise if you decide not to use your car which is the choice most of our guests make, Rye is well supported by taxis. For Guest accommodation we have two suites, groups of friends can mingle or not as the occasion dictates. The Rother Valley and Royal Military have their own access to come and go as you please. The two suites if booked together also benefit from having a lockable adjoining door and corridor. We do have additional facilities for up to 12 guests which are available. The large bedrooms are all on suite. For larger groups such as a family anniversary or significant birthday there is a lounge area available with some of the rooms which creates a home from home feeling. There is not a lounge for the Rother Valley or Royal Military suite. Your family will be able to relax and enjoy themselves with magnificent far reaching views. We can arrange catering for larger parties which could include a marquee in the grounds. We are located only 20 minutes from Ashford international train station and around an hour from London by train or rail.
We have run guest accommodation here since 2008. We pride ourselves on being engaging and taking an interest in helping guests have a great time in the Rye Bay Area. If you prefer the anonymity of a large impersonal hotel this will not work here. It's our home which our Guests generally understand. Unlike a hotel we do not have a reception desk and staff, we do everything ourselves. We welcome visitors from all over the World and understand cultural differences.
Rye Sussex is a safe, relaxed and calm place to visit. Our visitor profile is mature, sophisticated and appreciate the finer things in life. We run the official town website and produce the visitor guide publishing 130,000 copies each year since 2012. We have a wealth of local knowledge and will happily ensure you have all you need to fill your diary for a week. Castles, Forests, Beaches, Kent and East Sussex light railway, Formal gardens including Great Dixter and Merriments are all close by. Fine dining, fun dining and character filled pubs dating back 900 years will fill your evenings, an amazing digital cinema showing the very latest releases is also in town. Be sure to book a visit to The Grapevine which is a lovely champagne and wine bar with live music typically Jazz located just a short walk from us. Canterbury, Dover and Leeds Castle are all within an hours drive. The train journey to London us around an hour or less with the correct connections.
