Rooms were comfortable but TV and WiFi not operating. Staff were friendly.
Fighting in the bar and locals hassling you to stay in your room so that they can drink all night. Accommodation is fine as long as you do not frequent the bar on a Saturday night.
New ensuite in room was good
Barman kept me waiting until he had served all the locals, then continued to serve them ,during his trying to book me in. Left me standing like a fool.I would rather sleep in a ditch than return there.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our bedrooms were ideal size, they were quiet, warm, very clean, bed linen and towels were excellent. Bathroom was lovely - clean with accessories. Location was easy to find and nice and quiet. Would definitely recommend.
In spite being very busy the member of staff( we only saw one on arrival ) was friendly and helpful. The bedroom was excellent with crisp white bed linen and towels, plenty of bathroom accessories and two bottles of water. . Large easy to work shower. selection of books to read on the landing Breakfast excellent. daily newspapers to read
It didn't worry us but after crossing the "drinkers yard " enter a small door to find the reception area is awfull just a small table under the stairs no visitors book or booking record, some sad artificial flowers The dining room was basic The whole building looks run down which is sad because it will put people off staying. and they will miss a comfortable night and good food and friendly staff
If you want a true experience of small Scottish hotels, this is the place. The owners, managers, and staff are all terrific and care a great deal for their guests. The food is also fantastic. No standing cooked breakfast here, everything is made when you're ready. And the pub downstairs is equally fantastic, usually with at least a few locals and visitors ready to share a pint and a story. I know where I will be staying next time I'm in Scotland (hopefully sooner than later), and you should, too. Just don't all of us tourists cram in at once, we'll wreck the atmosphere. And a few notes on the other reviews: our room had a private bath, breakfast was always good, and enter the wifi password exactly as it is written (I did have a time with that one).
The temperature control was a bit wonky while we were there, but it was also unseasonably warm, so I'm sure the system was a bit confused. Everything else that might be considered a negative I will personally count as character, charm, and an experience.
The staff were so nice, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious. Great value for the price we paid. We will be back!
The tv didn't work-no signal. My bed was squeaky.
Excellent value for money. £40 for a twin room on ryder cup weekend
Bar seemed a bit lively but if it ain't your thing just steer clear
Very friendly Owners, staff & Locals. They were overbooked but gave us a lovely wee cottage for the night while the rest of the party stayed in the hotel. Lovely people and deserve to do well with that great attitude.
Nothing to dislike for the price we paid
Dirty needs complete decorating and all the staff need changing we were overcharged and never got our continental breakfast the following day
I was excellent value for money, the room was clean and the bed comfy. The restaurant food was excellent and the staff very helpful.
There was no hair drier .
room was very clean and had everything that was needed.staff were friendly.good breakfast.
the staff and locales made us very welcome lovely place to stay will stay there again highly recommended
nothing all is good
rooms were very clean, bathroom good. excellent shower. breakfast good. staff helpful.
language in the bar, you wouldnt take your granny in there.
WiFi very poor
Good value for money, spacious & good location for visiting Vane Farm.
Good location. Value for money
Staff politeness and willingness to please, clean rooms and bathrooms, overall very comfortable.
Noisy pub, thin walls.
30 minutes by car from the airport, which was the only objective
Bathroom is shared, outside of the room although was supposed to be private. Old style hotel (but was not expecting anything else for this price)
Our entire stay at Salutation Hotel was a delight. Staff were amazing and couldn't help enough. One of the female staff even went out in the rain to get an umbrella so that we would stay dry walking just a few feet from the bar to the hotel entrance. Amazing staff which made our stay such a pleasure. Would definitely recommend.
A few noisy guests upstairs and next door that seemed to only be heard after 2am but this is not a refelection on the Hotel whatsoever rather an observation on the upstairs and next door inconsiderate guests.
Frankly there was nothing appealing about this hotel from its clearly rather decaying exterior to the terribly poor looking public and bedroom facilities. The staff we met were a little behind with the expected schedule but were friendly if a bit over-focused on persuading us to pay the total bill at the outset.
We liked almost nothing about it. Its appearance externally is very poor, being dilapidated and clearly in need of basic painting and furnishing. The cramped 'reception area' looked almost squalid and the meals room had no window and poor furniture. Similarly the bedroom had two windows with one overlooking the local PO storage for vehicles and the other must have been poor as the glass was covered in a plastic covering presumably designed to disguise something unpleasant. While the bed was OK, we had unpleasantly cool weather for summer but no proper warming bedware was provided and no capacity made available to turn on any heating of any sort. The TC was 'warned' as being unreliable the first night while completely unworkable the next. The internal bathroom was tiny; we think the new shower fitting leaked onto the floor and the basin was available only in the bedroom itself. The visual appearance of virtually everything was very poor. It's the worst hotel room we've had the displeasure of occupying in the UK for decades and its price hardly matched this. The final act of their 'chatty' hotel servant was pleasant but probably designed to winkle out of us the full cost - something we've also never faced in a hotel. There's simply nothing to recommend it and we'd strongly advise people to avoid it.
Nice environment, nice people, good location if you want to make trips allover Scotland.
Thin walls and creeky floors
The hotel is not luxurious but its comfort able , the staff however were very helpful and friendy.I would stay again and would certainly recommend the hotel.Thankyou.
I had booked 2 twin rooms both of which had been recarpeted, had new curtains and bedding and were clean. Room 5 was spacious and my friends were happy. Breakfast was available as an extra which apparently was well cooked and plentiful.
However room 6 was tiny in comparison and very disappointing. No room between beds, no floor space, bedside tables, table lamps or wall lights. We had to share a bathroom although description had said private bathrooms. The cost of the rooms were the same despite the huge difference. The refurbishment is being done on a budget and it shows.
Viki, Martin and the rest of the staff went out of their way (and well beyond the call of duty!) to help us with everything we needed and making our stay very comfortable. The room was very comfortable and well priced.
room too small shared bathroom no parking
