One of the most unique hotels in Perth, set in a 15th century watermill, where you can still watch the water trickling through the original water wheel from the garden, reception area and Lounge Bar.
Score from 327 reviews Good 7.5/10
Small room and poorly fitted out ok for one night but no longer
The location is excellent, the style of the hotel is very atmospheric, lots of character. The breakfast room has a grand feel about it. The area offers good eating places, good live band pubs.lots of night life. We will be back
The food & the service
Breakfast Free printing Comfortable beds Free parking on street
Staff were excellent, location good, breakfast was good, bar meal was good.
Room was poor and dated, mattress sunk down so it felt as if your were falling out of bed.
Food was excellent Staff were all very good
The front of the building (i.e peeling paint work, etc) belies the well appointed and clean interior. The rooms were comfortable and clean with fresh linen and towels. The staff were great, clear and friendly in their instructions and advice
The only slight disappointment was the loud pumbing, I was awakened by folk taking to their showers in the morning or flushing their toilets at night.
It was a very relaxed feeling in the hotel , staff were awesome would visit again
A pool would be nice!
Great room staff where very very help fill
Wished we could have stayed longer
Loved it all...staff, food, room and bar were great
Garlic and herb sauce
Liked the great level of service provided by all staff at the hotel
The front could do with a paint job
Scotlands oldest hotel, got an nice old feeling. Very friendly staff, especially the bar and breakfast staff. Very good breakfast too. Good location.
Stairs everywhere, lift does not go to all levels. Wifi only in the reception/bar and quite unstable. No aircondition or fans, might become hot on warm days/nights. No soundproofing.
Old worldly creaky floored building with tons of character, made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived, lovely breakfast, good sleep.
Shower mat with black body hair stuck to it. (Although this was remedied ASAP when brought to the staffs attention)
Room clean, comfortable bed, relatively quite
Unable to get breakfast on first day, 8.30 appointment in Dundee, coach parties filled dining room from 7.15am Second morning dining room adequate, breakfast fine but served burnt toast (BLACK) no apology given
Room was very good. Breakfast was perfectly fine.
Only Wifi in public areas, and that didn't work.
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location in the heart of city. Free overnight parking around the corner but remember to pay in advance for the morning so that you don't have to get up for 8am. Very clean room with all we needed for an overnight including ensuite bath/shower. Breakfast buffet with variety of options.
Shower water not run away so only one of us could have a bath/shower.
everything is very well ! price / quality top level !!
the car park is behind the hotel at about 200 meters and not free.
This is an excellent hotel with very comfortable rooms and good service. I would heartily recommend it as a place to stay, although it does not have its own car park. It is very near to a car park but the combination of price and luxury made this one of the best places that we stayed at whilst travelling from John O'Groats to Land's End.
Liked Location it very central for shops, restaurants and bars. Staff were friendly, sanitary ware was clean.
The trek to our room,we had to go up to third floor and then down flights of stairs to the second floor where our room was, past a kitchen and down a sloping hallway,if we had been elderly we would never have made it. Bed sheets had a hole in them, dressing table chair had stain on it which looked like blood, bathroom curtains had white stains on them, all in all it was so tired and run down in areas.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast and ideal location.
bedroom, difficult to find on 2nd floor due to amount of stairs to negotiate for eldery couple.more thought to this please.shower and doors need upgrading.room kept clean daily but always a musty smell.
Location Dining room Breakfast Superior double room
Lack of parking at hotel.
location, clean room, good breakfast. will use again.
poor atmosphere in bar/dining area. front of building needs cosmetic work.
Nice place, in the center of the city. Very old building with tradition and fashion. You really can see how it looked like 300-400 years ago.
Wifi only in the lobby. This should be easy to solve in the XXI century. No private parking, only on the street for 0,9 GBP/hour.
