The rural farm setting was the perfect antidote to our hectic city life. Every aspect of our stay was relaxing and welcoming. There is not a single thing that I can think of that would have improved our weekend break at Sampsons Farm.
Having to leave.
A relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed watching the animals.
No evening meal facilities. No where near-by to eat. However, there was the offer of free transportation to a restaurant a few miles away which felt rather regimented.
we were not pleased to find that there wasn't any hand soap to use in the bathroom and on request were told there wasn't any available and that we'd have to use the shower gel provided.and the fact we had to request that our room be cleaned and towel change during our stay. All this was a shame as we've stayed there on previous occasions and were very happy. Dou
Friendly staff, decent size room.
Although the pictures on booking.com show a nice place to eat, the restaurant was closed (out of season?).
The location was nice. Being picked up and taken to an inn for dinner was a nice gesture.
The bathroom was a little small and it was like the toilet was put in as an after thought. The bed was so soft I thought I was falling out the edge
Breakfast and evening meal great.
I booked a courtyard double room and on arrival I was informed that I had been upgraded to the apartment - which in my opinion was meant for a self catering family holiday and was not an upgrade I would have preferred to have got what I booked.
Rural location, no traffic noise Looking out of bedroom window onto goats and chicken. Breakfast Flowers in planters
Lack of attention to simple details: curtains droopy due to many missing hooks, bits fallen off chandelier in bedside drawer, rickety wardrobe. Husband found early morning cockerel crowing irritating.
The scenery was wonderful. The goats, chickens and geese. It was lovely seeing the cows go up and down lane. It was relaxing and comfortable. Luke was very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. Very much enjoyed stay and would love to stay again if we save enough money.
Main meal bit disappointing for price as steak was burnt, however the rest of meals were excellent. We did not get to spend much time around the hotel which was disappointing as we had people to visit.
THE STAFF WERE FANTASTIC, WE ARRIVED LATE BUT THE STAFF WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO OPEN THE KITCHEN AND MADE US SOME FOOD AND NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH FOR THEM, REALLY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. LOCATION WAS GREAT.
The idyllic position, the very warm welcome, the fascinating old house, excellent breakfast, and relaxed cheerful atmosphere.
Peaceful location Friendly residents Relaxation
No chef for meals ( on holiday) No one informed prior to our visit

Our favourite place to stay when in Devon no longer provides accommodation. However, the warm welcome, the delicious breakfasts and the comfortable beds makes us feel we now have a new favourite place to stay when in Devon. And we love the goats!

I was on the ground floor the floorboards for the room above me creaked badly Shower was cold with no power
