Great food, very comfortable rooms (good bed, bath, nice decor) and friendly staff. A lovely little village a short drive from Bath. I'd recommend a stay.
The room was a little cold when we first arrived - but it warmed up soon enough.
Staff very courteous and friendly. Parking good. Room of a good size. Standard of food excellent
Comfortable room, excellent food and excellent staff
Very helpful, friendly staff Good facilities Quiet room
Bed was hard for my personal taste
Staff were very friendly, Had a really nice break & breakfast was very good value
King-size beds would be nice.
Good nights sleep/Not a noisy location Rooms reasonably well equipped Comfortable bed
Having to go to restaurant for breakfast
The hotel was dated but very clean. The bedrooms were adequate and heating was available when needed. Tea and coffee were welcome albeit the kettle did not have a plug nearby.
Nothing was to our distaste
The Staff is so nice. And the room is clean.
The beds were a little bit uncomfortable
Rooms were a little cold
Check out wasn't to early
You never know what you are likely to get from an independent hotel but here you got pleasent staff, clean and comfy accommodation and a good breakfast. I would stay again.
An ugly looking building in a nothing kind of area.
a bit basic - but ok for the price
Great access to Chesterfield and Sheffield easily located off dual carriageway.
The occasional noisy guest who can't shut a door quietly.
taps on wash basin , should been mixer taps for hot and cold water. pressure with shower very poor.
The hotel delivers above its budget in terms of service and the quality of food provided at reasonable cost
TV reception not the best but more to do with location probably.
For the price, clean, spacious, and very friendly staff
TV did not appear to work
We enjoyed our stay, friendly welcome received, Kenny and Pam get top marks for their customer service
Only 1 complaint, the bed in our room was quite hard anduncomfortable however it did not spoil our stay and we will use the hotel again
Everything was great. Lovely staff. Good food. Will stay again if in area
The key pad to get out of the gate was conveniently placed on the passenger side of the car. A pain for the single traveller.
The rooms are functional and comfortable I do not like too many frills. They were also spotlessly clean and all the equipment such as hair dryer, TV and most importantly the kettle worked. The shower was hot with a good strong flow of water. The restaurant was as I remember it from previous visits with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. The food we chose for our evening meal was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and served hot; good sized portions and the service was excellent. Breakfast was the same good food served hot, plenty of it and good service. The surroundings are lovely and the background music was just that; nice music at a volume that did not interfere with your conversation or your enjoyment of the meal. The bed was firm which is to our taste and we got a good nights sleep which we both needed after a very stressful drive in terrible weather conditions. I stayed at The Sandpiper on five separate occasions some ten years ago and was so impressed especially with the restaurant that I always said that I would take my wife there one day. I did and she was as impressed as I was. John Reed.
Staff were very friendly.
Breakfast finished too early (9am). The barrier in the car park - with the touch pad on the passenger side of the car - was intensely irritating. The rooms are 'tired' and in need of redecoration. I don't like bedspreads on hotel beds because I suspect they are rarely cleaned.
Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Good breakfast that was nice and hot. Overall excellent value for money and would stay again.
Nothing but we only stayed for one night
The Sandpiper looks modest and not too exciting from the outside, but this is deceptive. Service was very good and friendly, room was clean and comfortable, and a good size. We chose dinner from the bar menu (me)and restaurant menu (husband) and both were very good. Although location is a bit off the beaten track, it's easy to drive into Sheffield or Chesterfield if you want, and quieter than a hotel in the city centre.
We had a very comfortable night here on our way from the North to London. It was an easy 2.5 drive to London the next day.
Nothing negative to say, everything was fine.
