The staff were most welcoming and friendly. We especially enjoyed the evening meal in the restaurant - excellent food and service. The room was quiet (away from the road), clean and the beds comfortable.

Excellent location, really interesting old building, very pleasant friendly staff and very good food. We found our short stay relaxing and most enjoyable. Southwell Minster and Workhouse are great places to visit. Nearby Newark and Lincoln are real gems. Nothing to moan about. All very enjoyable. We have already recommended the Saracens Head to family and friends.

It oozes character, and history. The rooms are well laid out and clean the staff were friendly. The location is great for the town and the Minster. Yes I would go back ! In my opinion it is a little over priced and probably they should cater a bit more for families as they only appeared to have one family room and when someone is having a wedding or similar occasion it makes the stay a little expensive.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was pleasant, comfortable and quiet. The food was good and the service quick at breakfast and dinner. The general ambience was lovely. When you don't want everything on the full English breakfast it would be good to have more of the chosen items - two rashers of bacon for example.

Stayed at hotel on an overnight Sunday to monday .. excellent room , with superb breakfast in the restaurant . Ate in bar on the suday evening , and even though the menu was a little limited the food was excellent .. Overall very good , class accomodation, with friendly and efficient staff. Room at front of building can be a little noisy with local traffic

The hotel was clean and comfortable. It had an immense amount of info on the history of the hotel. Free WiFi and freeview was good. Meals were good and nicely presented. The view from our room was dismal (only saw the roofs of other areas of the hotel). The reception area was very dimly lit and experienced a considerable amount of banging and doors slamming through the night.

Warm atmosphere, charming staff ---a delight for anyone in love with history--old clocks and beams. Anyone from abroad would be enchanted by a glimpse of" old England ". We look forward to returning with Japanese and French friends later this year--if the price is right ! N/ A

Very nice welcome. Nice room if a bit small but we are big! Lovely fire which we were able to sit at and then have a delicious bar supper. Very chatty host who was struggling with staff problems. We came for a funeral in the Minster so it was very convenient. The reception was at the Saracens Head and we could leave our car so that was a real bonus. We felt the breakfast staff needed some training! Got there in the end. We'd come again. The January bonus was very welcome.window boxes and hanging baskets I've ever seen! B&d HOPE The best winter

Apart from the fire alarm going off a couple times it was a very pleasant stay. Everything I could hope for in a business standard B and B / hotel
