Staff were cheerful and chatty.
On a col night, the room was warm but airless due to poor ventilation. Towel rail dangerously hot. The bath needs a grab rail to assist in access to the deep bath.
The guest lounge
At timed service in the bar was slow and a member of staff had to be found
upgraded for free to four poster room for our two night stay :-) bar cosy with fire hotel was grand and old staff accommodating and helpful
one of the staff a bit eccentric- obviously thinks if breakfast is til 9am, it ends and 9am sharp , so turned all the lights off!! Hilarious .
excellent location and pretty good value for money
wi fi slower than an England defender, bar area needs attention as it has no atmosphere at all and they stopped serving at 10.30 even for residents!
The staff were very friendly. Room was comfortable but lighting was inadequate for reading and the occasional chair was not very comfortable. Food excellent. Well done
Superb staff and family atmosphere Food and quiet ambience Historical nature and heritage Convenient market town location
Cold room and poor supply of hot water to bathroom. TV and Wi-Fi reception
The waiteressing and reception staff provided an excellent level of service and were very friendly and helpful.
It seemed quite expensive when we booked it, but after our stay we thought it was a bargain price for the lovely stay we had there.
Liked it all but would of been better in summer.
The room was very very cold the first night but the staff gave us a heater when we asked for one.
Adamant not to let us check in till the clock struck 2pm. Our four poster room looked lovely on photos but had uncomfortable mattress the floor boards creaked loudly and I've seen better bathrooms in a premier Inn. Bar closed at 10 30 pm no room service so was having to drink water from bathroom. No night porter on reception to ask. Bar was over priced £9.00 for double jd with mixer and half a strong now cider
Staff were excellent. The character and historical significance of the hotel give it plenty of character.
Breakfast finished at 09:00. Roof in bedroom leaked overnight, due to heavy rain. However, the hotel reduced the bill by 40%.
Wonderful period building in a elegant setting.
Staff not up to standard, lengthy waiting time to get served. Cold bedroom, shower only produced cold water. Evening meal was mediocre, and the red wine was served chilled!
Great location & staff, nice atmosphere.
The bathroom was tired and the shower didn't work very well.
Reception staff friendly
No heating other than storage heater in room. Towel rail didn't work. Shower didn't work. TV remote broken,
The age/decor and history of the hotel, and especially so close to the Minster. Delightful Receptionist Delilah. Bath water wonderfully hot, and a delicious breakfast with salmon. Thank you
Parking rather difficult to find both location and a space! Regretted the restaurant was not open for dinner but appreciate loud dancing music switched off at midnight. No line from room phone to Reception, so had to travel through the corridor in my nightclothes!
Food was ok
Terrible parking Got given key and someone else was in room.. Changed room to find radiator had flooded Next room radiator wasn't working..it was freezing...was like staying with the Adams family
The dinner was excellent, perhaps could have done with chicken on the menu but thats me being picky
The Fried Bread was soggy
Pleasant staff Good breakfast Spacious room Quiet
Could not use shower as not able to put it in holder as too high on the wall. No electric socket near bed so couldn't use my radio.
Appearance in a medieval village Exceptionally friendly and capable dining room staff Care for the guest Cheerful and positive people
I didn't stay long enough
Staff we were busy and often didn't initially see you on entering the dining room, but their service was very attentive once they noticed you. Food was very good, and plenty of it.
Parking was limited in volume as it serves a local church as well and not the easiest to find without prior knowledge. Don't try and leave when the school run is on in the morning as all the mums use the car park and its a single lane road access. Wifi could be better quality.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent. The position of the hotel was great for us in the middle of the town.
The shower in our room was not very good it had no water pressure.
The atmosphere and old world charm.
The shower head dripped all the time. Apparently new water pressure causes this and there is no solution!!
Although right in the centre and on a busy junction it was a peaceful stay in a beautiful venue. We had the four poster room for added luxury and it was great value...
Excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, historic and charming hotel.
Bathroom fan very noisy, lighting in room dim.
Smart and friendly staff. Food was excellent Room was clean
Group playing at a function. Couldnt hear TV in room it was so loud. No sleep before 12.30am Heating in room was poor. Had to get the blanket out of the cupboard
