Staff were accomadating
The roads to the hotel are awful, but that's no fault of the hotels.
A charming old place to stay in, very helpful & friendly staff. Close to everything i wanted to see.
The setting, food, staff, and rooms exceeded our expectations. We were very pleased with the charm of the home, the lovely gardens, and the nearby sheep in the fields.
Great view Very friendly staff Romantic dining room Fast free WiFi Located only a 5 minute drive to Hawkshead Homemade biscuits in the room
Cheap toilet paper
friendly welcoming car park
the noise from the bar downstairs makes going to bed before closure time a little bit more difficult
Everything especially the staff
Bed poor Pillows poor Shower room awful Paper thin walls no sleep
Location Food Rabbits on the lawn
The house is located in a very nice location, 5 min walk from a small lake
We got the small room onvthe 1st floor Very small room in front of the , hallway leading to the dining room,
I loved the pastoral beauty of the place! From the sunny breakfast room (best morning fare of my 3 1/2 week visit to England) and terrace, I could see green hills, forests, sheep grazing, bunnies hopping. The staff was so helpful! My rooms was comfortable.`
Sawrey House Hotel's charm lies in its being "tucked away"; however, as a traveler without a car, I faced the challenge of how to get around the beautiful area. I either took an hourly (10:00 to 19:00) Mt. Goat SUV the 1 1/2 miles down to Lake Windermere or, better, I walked on footpaths there. Then I took the car ferry across the lake (just 50 pence) and walked 1/2 mile more to transportation hub Bowness, where local buses and tour boats waited to take me wherever I wanted to go, including the nearby train station. Those with cars will have an easier time!
The food and the service was very good. Great assortment of good at breakfast. The views were amazing.
My bedroom had a musty smell which lingered on my clothes.
the in-house bar - meant for lovely afternoon & evening drinks on the terrace along with lovely lunch and dinner And Breakfast was most certainly enough to stoke you up for a long day of adventures. Very considerate making easy and arrangements for a late check in.
the sloping end of the bath tub had been put under the shower head which meant I had to be careful and it was a bit awkward but minor issue
Only spent 2 days but couldn't fault it.
The Hotel upgraded us to a suite the staff are always very pleasant and helpful. Great hotel great food and the surroundings are exceptional.
Can't fault them.
Beautiful surroundings, well appointed hotel, excellent staff.
We had an attic room. Being a hot night the room needed a fan to aid circulation.
traditional hotel lovely attentive staff
this hotel did evening meals for residents and nonresidents i feel the menu would have enticed me if iy had less haute cuisine choices it didnt seem busy at all and wonder if they are reaching the market they want but i am sure the food would be of very high standard the breakfasts certainly were
Really lovely country house hotel in beautiful grounds. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. The food was also excellent - patrons should definitely dine in at least once in their stay. The breakfast room, bar and dining rooms all have amazing views down across the gardens to the lake - stunning!
Excellent staff, beautiful location. Very quiet and tranquil. Superb breakaway.
The location was perfect for us (next to Hilltop). We had dinner at the hotel both nights of our stay, and the food was excellent, with a good choice of items for all courses. The owner was friendly, helpful, and efficient.
staff very helpful
The setting, the tranquility, the staff - helpful, flexible, courteous and engaging - sitting on the terrace with a drink, soaking up the view, the breakfasts, and the food at dinner. Been there three times, pretty keen on the place really. Note though, that this offers no spa facilities; personally I prefer swimming in the lake anyway.
The baby rabbits on the lawns are rather distracting, they take your eyes away from the folds of the fields, the glorious trees, the views of the lake and the peaks of the high fells in the distance.
The dinner we had downstairs was absolutely beautiful. Worth every penny. Staff were very attentive bringing starters to the back terrace with an amazing view out over the water. Very calm and tranquil place I would not hesitate to recommend.
The view from the breakfast lounge and from the bedroom over the grounds and the to the lake. Friendly service. The bedroom was lovely. Nice and peaceful getaway
The shower base cd have done with regrouting.
