Short walk into town. Lovely Apartment with everything you need. Great break for 4 friends on a Xmas shopping trip. Plenty of history for sightseeing. Lovely apartment thank you
Close to the town centre for shopping and visiting the attractions. Friendly, polite owners.
Didn't have a bar in hotel for a nightcap, but was ok, as there was a pub across the road.
The staff were just lovely and extremely helpful. Clean and well presented.
We were expecting a cooked breakfast.
We were staying in York to watch the snooker and the location was perfect. For a stay in York, the B&B is in an excellent location - near some excellent pubs and only a short walk in to the city centre. Breakfast was yummy and the owners were really helpful and friendly. Appreciated being able to stock up tea and coffee for the room at any time - a lovely touch.
Décor is a tiny bit tired in some areas (bit scuffed and headboard torn) but everything else more than great.
Road traffic very noisy, didn't like the continental breakfast.

would have liked a cooked breakfast but there was plenty available on the continental
Good location close to the castle few mins walk from the Barbican. Clean rooms friendly staff.
Small room, no bath, wi-fi slow , tv didn't work, view of a car park, 25min walk from the train station. No cooked breakfast only continental.
clean flat and located close to the city centre
The toilet is down stairs from the bed rooms
Friendly staff, good location , clean and comfortable .
Apartment isn't part of The Saxon anymore, so can't comment on The Saxon (apart from new owner was very friendly and helpful!) but would recommend the 2 Bed Apartment! A group of friends and I stayed in the 2 bed apartment. It was lovely, there was a slight mix up with gaining entry to the property but once that was sorted out our stay was fabulous. It's in a great location, within about 10-15mins walk to centre of York. The apartment had everything we needed, including some extra's, the food package was more than we expected and was a lovely surprise. It was modern, clean, quiet & safe feeling. What more could you ask? Thank you!
Shower drain didn't work too well.
top sheet on double bed was too small was t big enough to go over both of us, and when we checked out was told just to leave key on t side. breakfast was bit of a dissapoitment thought there would be a selection of fresh crossants.
Comfortable beds. No noise from other parts of building. Facilities were good in general (oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher). Lovely bottle of wine. Easy access, parking. Breakfast - bread, croissants, jam, butter, cereal.
Wasn't as clean as it could have been - smeared plates and glasses, floors with dust, edges not well vacced etc.. Milk (provided) had already been opened. Slight smell of stale cigarette smoke, particularly upstairs. Sky not working. Not sure who owns it as NOT linked to the guest house.
Helpful staff, comfortable room with space to store our stuff. Nice bed and lots of hot water when needed. We would happily stay there again.
Nowhere to put our damp towels except draped over the shower, the end of the bed and furniture knobs, and the shower head did need propping up. However, still got a good shower.
Easy to get to when driving into York Pleasant walk into York along the river (15 minutes) Good Parking facility (off road) Informal atmosphere Owners were friendly and helpful
Our room looked out onto the main road so a little noisy when windows were open, however they were double glazed and kept most of the sound out when closed.
Very friendly owners and not far from from centre
For the price they charge we had expected a lot more and were disappointed. Breakfast was only continental with no choice of English breakfast. A lot of money for little in return. House in need of redecoration and tlc. Very uncosy dining area. Also, booking.com had not informed Saxon House about our 2 rooms as we discovered 2 days before - owners did their best to find us rooms and succeeded.
A great location on the south side of the city and gave good access to everything.... Apartment was very modern and clean. Excellent service from the owner and we highly recommend it....
Debbie, the owner texted an hour before we arrived asking where we are going to arrive and that she will be there waiting. She left us complimentary bottle of wine, few items for the breakfast, some information about the property and things to see. the place was a 20 mins walk from city centre. it was clean, comfortable and quiet.
We stayed for 3 nights at the Saxon House. The B&B is only a 15 minute walk from the center of town, longer if you want to take the less scenic route and miss out the river. Breakfast was well stocked and had more than the average B&B. The owners cared for the business, customers and cleanliness! We will be returning!
The only problem we had other than climbing the 3/4 large flights of stairs when drunk was that the shower took forever to drain and I resorted to turning the shower off several times as to stop the water overflowing.
Close to city
Never saw anyone
Friendly helpful staff, GREAT location, nice breakfast. Read a few bad reviews of the 4 poster room and was really scared of being disappointed but everything was absolutely spot on! (They must just be moaners, I'm afraid!) The room was spacious enough and was comfortable and nicely decorated and me and my boyfriend had a really lovely time! The owners suggested all the best places to go for food/drinks and we werent disappointed at all!
The bed WAS quite squeaky like a few reviews had stated, but it wasn't much of a problem!
