Within a 10-minute walk of the historic city of York, this stylish bed and breakfast (B&B) has modern comforts such as plasma-screen TVs, iPod docks and free Wi-Fi. Tea and coffee making facilities and a private bathroom are included in each room. Saxon House has still retained many of its original features. The hotel also has a lounge area for a relaxing evening. A fantastic full English breakfast will set you up for a day visiting the many local attractions and the lounge/bar area is available to unwind after a long day. Take the short riverside walk into the city centre to see the Minster. Knowledgeable and friendly staff will work hard to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. Location was superb and the staff were friendly, helpful and extremely hospitable. Good breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Nothing. It was ideal for our needs.

the house was clean and tidy our room was quite big and the decor and furniture were a good standard, the landlady and staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice.

The location was excellent. Local good eateries. Staff were exceptionally friendly. Good clean accommodation. Early morning breakfast on a weekend. only served breakfast 8.30am to 9.30am. Could have easier directions. although the person who owned it did telephone us to see what time we would be there and directed us to the door.

The breakfast was very good. Breakfast was only available for an hour, it was served between 8.30-9.30am. It should be a longer timeframe. The rooms were very basic and the mattress was in need of an upgrade.

Saxon House was a great place to stay at. It was very clean and well maintained place. The beautiful interiors make it a pleasant place to stay at. The Staff/owners are very friendly and helpful. The location of the house is another big positive. It is not too far from the town center and is just 2 blocks away from the river side... All in all a very beautiful place and is a perfect place for city touring or a romantic holiday!

Lovely welcome from very friendly people who we learned later had only flown back from Spain 2 days earlier to take over and had worked flat out to get everything ready for us and the other guests. Incredibly convenient location, 200yds to lovely riverside walk into city, 5mins from Barbican where we were going to a show. Clean, comfortable room and a superb full English breakfast. Good luck to Angie and Trevor with this venture, we only stayed one night and left feeling like friends.

The location was ideal for a city break. The room was not clean, the shower's hot water only lasted 3 minutes before going cold, the breakfast time on sunday was ridiculously early for a Sunday (8.30-9.30) and you had to vacate the room by 10.30- far too early. The room was shabby including the cheap looking 4-poster. The towels were the size of a tea-towel and the stool at the dresing table was broken. On arrival, we also had to tolerate a rant from the proprietor who was moaning about some people who were upset because they had been double booked. She finished her phonecall to another B&B for at least 5 minutes about the double booking issue before speaking to us to check us in- and just pushed a peice of paper to us to fill out whilst she openly expressed her frank views to the person on the phone about the previous 'awful' people.

It had a relaxed atmosphere The room was cold and quite dark, and our tea coffee facilities were not replenished only had sufficient for 3drinks between two people on a 2 night stay.

Only a short walk to the centre, the price was right at £55 a night. Clean and convenient. The owner was rather bad tempered and quite rude. The fan in the bathroom was very noisy which is a problem in the middle of the night and the road was noisy in the morning. We also faced the street so could hear people coming back from the nightclubs.

We love the saxon house. We went 3years ago & went back this month again. I asked my partner to marry me this time & we loved our stay at the saxon house & we will be going back. The lovely staff as very helpful & nothing is to much.
