Catering was excellent. Very good value for money. The bedroom was more than adequate, although the bathroom, whilst scrupuously clean, was a little on the small side.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our room/bathroom.The food was very good and the restaurant service was excellent.(we were always first up at breakfast and so got one to one service from the staff.)We had no problem parking right outside of the hotel, or in the hotels own private car park, which is just on the other side of the road. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were nice and fresh.Nice, quiet hotel. (apart from the seagulls)Maybe take some good earplugs with you. We thought the bathroom was very narrow.(only about 1 metre wide.)We managed ok, but with difficulty as we are not as slim and supple as we once were. The tv only seemed to have the usual 5 channels,(no freeview)The room we got was right at the top of the building.(36 stairs)I accept that the advert states that there is no lift, but I didn,t know we would get this room. (maybe people should be told if they are to be allocated these rooms?)

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay, all the staff were excellent, the hotel was spotless, nothing was too much trouble, restaurant staff and food were of the highest order, we hope to return and will definitely reccommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Whitby. Can I finish by saying that my wife and myself have for this last 40 years been priviliged to travel extensively both in the uk and overseas and have stopped at some first class hotels, The Saxonville might not be as Ritzy as some we have seen, but in every other respect it is up there with the best. Highly reccommended

When we arrived at the saxonville there had been some misunderstanding with my internet booking, but the exceptional service from the staff meant that it still possible for us to stay at the hotel. Our stay was very enjoyable, even though we were only there for the weekend. The hotel was very clean and the food was very good. I would definitely go back again to the saxonville and I would recommend it to anyone

Very friendly, good value, excellent sized rooms, Wonderful location. Superb evening dinner, dedicated car park. Bed hard, Am used to Duvet Toilet bathroom window not frosted , so have to draw curtains to avoid being seen. Perhaps a roller blind may be a better bet in the moist area of a Bathroom/shower?

A comfortable hotel which is owned by a family. Friendly reception and all staff attentive. It is close to the sea front at Whitby and is within easy reach of the centre of the town. I was there only for one night but I think people staying for a hotel would find it a good base for both the town and surrounding area, both coastal and countryside.
