Excellent facilities and very helpful reception staff. Although most of the restaurant staff were excellent one, in particular, was not interested in our complaint about the tough meat served at dinner one evening.

Great staff. Great location. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was below average. You really need a good hot shower after a long hike.

I booked this hotel for my wife and I for one night as a base for walking around Borrowdale. The welcome was friendly and first impressions were good - the room was well decorated and the extra deep bath was very welcome after a long day walking. We were also very impressed with the attitude of the hotel towards having our dog - she was welcome anywhere except the restaurant, which was a refreshing change. The food was good quality and the staff efficient and friendly. An excellent place to base yourself, I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who go to the lakes to walk with their dog.

Lovely room, modern bathroom, excellent Playing the radio in the breakfast room, too quiet to hear properly but loud enough to be annoying. Musac? No thanks

This is the third time we have stayed at the scafell hotel and we will certainly stop again. The location is fantastic for walking and relaxation, borrowdale has to be one of britains finest valleys and keswick is a short drive away. Breakfast and the breakfast room is very good, the ramblers bar is a great place for a pint with good atmosphere. The hotel lounge and bar are fabulous particularly with the roaring fires in winter. Friendly staff.

The scafell is comfortable and friendly. The surrounding scenery is lovely. It's not far from Keswick where we like to shop and browse around. The hotel also has it's own Riverside Bar which is good. It's ideal for a relaxing weekend break. There was nothing we didn't like about the Scafell.

Good staff and facilities. Reasonable breakfast selection served with a smile. Very comfortable lounge and cocktail bar with welcoming open fires to take the chill off a January night. Rooms were very comfortable and pleasantly warm. Dog friendly. Nothing major, the adjoining pub next door was pleasant enough with a good selection beers etc. Nice open fire. Food was only average. Lack of internet facilities in the hotel is unusual these days especially not having any mobile phone coverage too... But maybe that was a plus actually.

Fantastic location in heart of Borrowdale. Traditional Lakeland country house hotel. Great roaring log fires in louge and bar. Excellent breakfast. Choice of civilised dinner in hotel resturant or good cheaper food in atmospheric Riverside Bar. Thoroughly recommended!!

Small yet very friendly hotel with great staff. Ideal location for walking and visits to the Lakes. Lovely log fires were very welcoming on a dreadfully wet couple of days.

Fabulous location for walkers. Friendly staff. Personal feel. Clean, modern, well-decorated rooms with attractive bathrooms. Decent food. A smallish hotel with character. I would happily go again. Service in the Riverside Bar (essentially a walkers' pub next door to the main hotel) not as good in the hotel. Would probably be better in the high season.

Staff excellent and very friendly. Comfortable room-slept well. No one can get to on a mobile. Disappointed that I could not get signal for dab radio which I had brought with me. Evening meals were a little on expensive side.

The hotel has been beautifully refurbished throughout. The room was small but decorated and furnished to a very high standard and the bathroom was very modern, clean and luxurious. All the common areas were immaculate and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and good value for money. All in all there was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
