Scarborough Hill Country House HotelArlington Place Hotels, Old Yarmouth Road, NR28 9NA North Walsham (Show map) Good, Score from 38 reviews“We stayed over the Christmas weekend while visiting friends nearby. It was bitterly cold, but the rooms were lovely and warm (as was the rest of the hotel). The rooms were quite spacious and well equipped; nice fluffy white towels and plenty of hot water.”

Staff helpful but not fussy. Log fire in entrance made a good impression on a winter's day. Room clean and spacious. Excellent cooked breakfast, mushrooms and bacon particularly tasty. No 'muzak'. Good value for money. Concerned about the humming of a generator or fan but it went off around 11pm.

Lovely country location. Nice comfortable bar and restaurant. Would have been nice to be able to see through the bedroom window but was running with condensation the whole of our stay, this was due to heating not working in our room,we were given a fan heater to use. The hotel was not full so why we were not moved I dont know. You never saw the same member of staff twice !!

Good housekeeping. Warm, clean and tidy, good bed, excellent breakfast. A fine setting with rolling grass and beautiful mature trees. Plenty of space, peace and quiet. We didn't eat lunch or dinner but there was a very popular daily carvery which we would definately try next time. A bit tricky to find, North Walsham has an unfathomable one way system. Tired(ish) decor, steep(ish) stairs, rather firm pillows. In one of our rooms, the kettle did not reach the plug and had to be used on the floor, only small problems! Would definately stay again

The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable the linen was clean and fresh. Breakfast was enough and hot. Would return if in the area Only concern was the electric showers not of a higher enough standard for todays hotel expectations. Poor temperature control and not enough power which may this part of our stay not enjoyable this was no better in our childrens room. If there was one thing the bathrooms really do need a revamp and modernising. Tiles on the floor (get rid of the carpet) power showers. If our stay was longer the bathroom would of seriously irritated our family.

Clean bed, towels, bath, toilet etc. But you would expect this! Friendly staff. Our room was the worst we have ever had to endure, with a threadbare carpet and wallpaper peeling off the wall. The toilet and bathroom was divided from the bedroom by an archway with a see through curtain. No privacy whatsoever. If one needed the toilet the other would have to vacate the room. The dining room needed a good clean up, plus a lot of simple maintenance required, such as fixing the curtain rails which were hanging down. The management needs to take control and sort the place out. The star ratings belied our experience. We are not picky, but the accomodation was very disapointing. The place could be fabulous with a bit of money spent in the right areas.

The grounds, good parking, reasonable price. Online booking had not been received by the hotel. Furnishings looked tired. Room dusty on radiators Vegetables overcooked, and the meal overall did not represent value for money. Table mats too worn for a 3 star hotel.

Location was nice and quiet and we chose this hotel due to its proximity to Blickling House, where we were attending a concert. The decor and the cleanliness in the dining room was not great. Dirty tea cups and cutlery and stains on the wall next to our table. The food however was good.

Pleasant location & staff. After check in I had an issue with some of my clothes being marked by a sticky substance in the wardrobe, but this was dealt with quickly and the clothes were washed and ironed the next day. The whole bulding decor looks tired and dated. A coat of paint and new wallpaper would make such a difference to a lovely building. For this reason my answer to the question below of whether I would recomment it to others, is probably not.

Location for coast and Norfolk broads clean bedding and towels. Hotel was set in beautiful location but has seen better days it requires a thorough refit and a deep clean.Carpets in bathroom were old and smelt.Tiles around the bath were grimy.Window frames were rotten. There was no facilities after 11 O'Clock and no staff. Breakfast was fair but far too greasy.

The staff were friendly and helpful The decorationa and furnishings were very tired and of poor condition. The menu was restricted - I am vegetarian and had one option only. Breakfast was very basic.

The extremely comfy bed and the lovely staff more than make up for the slight tiredness of the hotel. The service was great, it was very clean and the surroundings were really pretty. I didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but the breakfast was very nice and the evening menu did look very good. We booked a double room but when we got there we were in the 'Nelson Suite' which was very roomy with a separate living area and sunken bath. The shower was pretty awful (just a dribble really) and yes the hotel could possibly do with a facelift (I call it shabby chic). The sunken bath would be tricky to get in and out of if you aren't too steady on your feet. Also the windows didn't open which I didn't like. I do believe you get what you pay for and as we didn't pay very much I was ready to not get very much! However I'm not really complaining about these things as we were very pleasantly surprised. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! We liked it.

Good sized room, comfortable bed with nice fresh linen and towels. Reasonable breakfast. Good value for money. We don't think fitted carpets in bathrooms are a good idea.

The whole experience was worthwhile, subject to my comments below. I would say that the real ale was slightly on the cold side, and we stayed in Hamilton where we 'suffered' a very annoying droning noise from below - possibly the boiler?
