Manager was very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Great overnight stop.
The friendly approach of the staff
Staff welcoming and friendly. Room comfortable, clean and spacious.
Although the food was a while coming this was because it was cooked to order. We had both breakfast and evening meal and both were excellent.
Location is great, in the country but not too far from the motorway. Set in lovely grounds. Great hotel with all the facilities to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. Return is a must
Nothing I didn't like
Large bedroom, huge en-suite Tasteful, period decoration Staff were welcoming and helpful Very good breakfast.
No negatives, didn't try out the Wi-Fi.
Found hotel on the net and so pleased we did, a real find. Michael was the perfect host and was very attentive. The food, evening meal and breakfast were delicious and the hotel itself is decorated in a sublime, classy style! A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
The staff were friendly and approachable, and very willing to help in any way they could. The food was well cooked and attractively presented, and although the wine selection was limited, it was very well priced.
What a find! The staff were fantastic and could not be more friendly. We ate dinner and that was good too. The bathroom was spotless and looked almost new. Very quiet and secluded but only a couple of minutes from the M6 junction. We will definitely stay again.
Hard to find something that wasn't first class. Being extremely picky, a king size bed would have been better but the queen one was very comfy.
Some of the decor was a little dates, but that's minor in the grand scheme of things.
Arrived for breakfast before any of the other rooms, theady was not ready to serve breakfast up but worked quickly to try and make it as soon as she could. She was very accommodating, pleasant ad helpful
We used the hotel as a base to meet friends they travelled up from Leicestershire and we travelled down from Scotland. The hotel was very cold, we complained and the fire in the bar was lit but unfortunately it made no difference. We chose to eat in the hotel as we enjoy a leisurely meal and time to chat and catch up but we were so cold we ended up going to bed, which was no warmer you couldn't even warm up in the shower as there was no hot water and no hot water in the morning after. We couldn't bare to stay for breakfast and headed to Lancaster to enjoy breakfast in a comfortable environment. We were very disappointed as we decided to stay because of the excellent reviews we saw on line. We will not return or recommend the hotel
Gentleman on reception at arrival was good. Offered to carry our bags to the room. Free wifi was good. The free bottled water was a nice extra!
Signage from the road past midnight so bad that we walked a mile past it! Not sure if the AA neon sign had been switched off. You definitely need a powerful torch if walking back from Caton 0.8 miles away. The service at breakfast was awful. The coffee was luke warm. We were then served individual hot pots and were asked did we want additional cups. Since the originals were full of the luke warm coffee we obviously did. The young woman looked like she would rather be a thousand miles away! The breakfast was fine that said.
When I booked this hotel, I expected that we'd spend most of the evening in Lancaster, but due to road works, we decided to just hang out at the hotel instead. We enjoyed a nice dinner and a relaxing evening.
We were travelling down to Devon and decided to break the journey from St Andrews. This is just off m6 and although it was dark on our arrival, we were able to let the dog out safely. And she was welcomed into the house too sleeping in our room. Family room large and comfortable. Bathroom old fashioned but clean, big and perfectly acceptable! Plenty of choice on menu for all tastes and well cooked. It is not haute cuisine but good country pub grub. Breakfast delicious. We would stay there again without hesitation.
