The hotel is licensed and has a well-stocked bar and a games room with pool, darts, bar billiards and, on request, traditional pub game 'shove ha’penny'.
The rooms still retain many of their charming period features, including some of the original fireplaces and 2 roll-top baths.
All of the rooms have en suite facilities, except 1 twin room, which has access to a private bathroom nearby.
Ilfracombe, with its beautiful harbour, shops, theatre and other attractions, is just a pleasant 20-minute walk from the hotel. There is also an entrance to the Cairn Nature Reserve adjacent to the hotel. The nature reserve is great for an enjoyable walk and offers spectacular views across Ilfracombe and across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast.
In the region surrounding the hotel, there is a variety of excellent activity centres for quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, paintballing, karting or surfing. There are also 5 golf courses nearby, with courses suitable for all skill levels. There are 5 more courses within a 30-minute drive.
For those who prefer something a little more relaxing, there are several National Trust properties nearby, including Arlington Court and Dunster Castle. Alternatively, you could visit the area’s many beautiful gardens, not least of which are the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Rosemoor.

The breakfast was great, and lots of it. The owners are really lovely people. Beautiful old house. Location is great, parking etc. It is a bit outside the town, but absolutely fine as you can walk or there are cabs. We drove. Room was lovely, old stylie and bathroom had bath, which we had forgotten we liked so much.. And being on holiday its not like we were in a rush.. The bar was on request really. We would of gladly had a few drinks there when we got back at night but felt we were imposing to ask the owner to open the bar just for us. |
