The Scot House Hotel  

Great location, brilliant staff who were very helpful and it was very warm.

I liked everything, thought it was brilliant!

The hotel is pretty, and lovely and warm. Staff are friendly and chatty.

The only thing I would say is that if you are out and come back at 10pm there are no staff around. We had gone out earlier and brought back a take away but there were no staff available to let us into the restaurant to borrow some plates / glasses / cutlery.

We only stayed at the Scot House Hotel as a stopover on our wat to Lochinver. The size of the room was great and also having a jacuzzi. The hotel is currently being sold and it is being run by a managerial couple not the owners as the website had originally stated.

On arriving there was some confusion over the room we should be in, it had been given to someone else and they then had to be moved to another room. The heat in the room was uncomfortable throughout the night.

Lovely room and friendly staff. None intrusive. We were able to enjoy our stay and make friends with the management without being made to feel tied to wining and dining at the hotel. We did our own thing and really enjoyed our stay.

Very friendly stay in nice surroundings, the bedroom was a bit tired looking with marks on the walls - overall a resaonable level of accommodation.

the owners father was the manager what a man he could not do enough for you very help full got us a evening meal even through i wasern,t ordered there was 4 adults in the group if you wanted anything you just had asked he would help you out what a greatman the outside was a bit run down needs a lick of paint and a bit of gardening but the inside was great exellent stay we even asked for another night but he was full could not ask for more everything was there even a small bar away from the rooms so no sound from bar even though we were above it exellent would stay agian

A very good hotel and as described on the website. Unfortunately Kingussie is now a bit of a backwater due to the A9 bypassing it and this has lead to a complete lack of restaurants in the village. A pleasant stay with friendly, efficient staff and a very nice room.

Previous reviews were somewhat off-putting, but we were pleasantly surprised by the standard and cleanliness of the room. Somewhat surprised by the inclusion of a Hot Water Bottle in the wardrobe, but as it was August we managed to avoid such sybaritic delights ! Perhaps the previous reviews have been taken on board, as our rooms showed signs of recent refurbishment (shame about the semi-detached bathroom ceiling ). The gentleman (not the owner) on duty at Reception was extremely helpful and professional. We chose not to eat there, so no comment about the culinary aspects - other than the menu appeared rather bland and basic, but in fairness, reasonably priced.

The rooms were beautiful, the staff were so friendly and very helpful and the menu was good but easily addaptable.

Comfortable and clean. Food/bar good. A very knowledgable manager.

A lovely intimate hotel with a warm welcome. Alistair was the perfect host, always had a smile! Good food especially spiced orange cheesecake so yummy! Had a lovely relaxing break and would stay there again.

Location is very good for the Highland Wildlife Park. Reasonably comfortable, reasonable price.

Rather shabby in some ways and in need of decorating. Front drive and garden overgrown and somewhat neglected.

Lovely small hotel in Kinguissie - borders the national park. Large clean and comfy rooms. Tea, coffee and short bread available :) Beautiful mountain views from window. Close to local attactions (ruins, brewery, national park etc..) We used it as a base to explore the central highlands for a few days and had a great time. Kitchen does a simple but delish menu. Board games in a common area, just in case it's a rainy morning (and hey, it's Scotland!) Great customer service from hotel staff.
