The room was lovely. We had a suite and it was spacious, clean and well decorated.
The hotel is lovely however it does need a bit of modernising.
The rooms where the warmest place and the meal on Saturday night was lovely
The cold felt the hotel was notwarm had to sit in coats most of the day and sit with jacket on through our evening meal
The staff were pleasant and courteous.
Breakfast was not buffet style and didn't like to ask for any more
NOT VERY MUCH
ROOM AND CORRIDOR SMELL MUSTY PLACE NEEDS TO BE REFURBRISHED AS IT IS VERY TIRED LOOKING
The meals in the restaurant were excellent although only a la carte was available swimming pool and spa facilities were good
No bar meals offered
Nice traditional hotel, friendly staff, had read reviews about bad breakfast service, you did have to wait a bit for breakfast as it was made to order, very good when it came though. Pool good. Had a lovely facial in the spa.
Gym a bit basic but fine.
Location. Room comfortable and clean enough.
An unpleasant musty smell permeates hotel. Also management of dining room very poor, with unacceptable queuing.
Swimming pool, lady at reception
Breakfast was poor
Having to walk through restaurant to get to leisure facility.
The hotel was ok but very tired. The hotel entertainment was good.
On arrival there was no record of my booking from booking.com. Reception informed me that the hotel was full so after waiting for almost half an hour we were given a family room but not in the hotel but across the road in an old house. We had to take the room as we had travelled quite a distance to get there. Not happy with booking.com at all.
The staff friendliness
The Hotel urgently need refurbishment carpets throughout in a poor state and general décor is very tired, also additional charges for wifi in the rooms is unwelcome.
The room was clean, nice comfortable bed and nicely decorated, frindly staff at front desk.
The breakfast took a long time and with mistakes, seemed to be a break down in communication.
Comfort, breakfast quality
Room was a bit hot even with heating turned down
Food was very good and the service cannot be faulted. Very friendly staff.
Room was a bit small and some minor repairs were required. Could do with a bit more atmosphere in the bar.
In desperate need of updating throughout, damp old building smell...... Not worth price per room
Watch for the big hole in the car park - scary lift - poor view from the room of rooftops
Staff were poorly trained ..didn't deal with complaints in a satisfactory manner .could barely understand English , left the reception desk unmanned for long periods of time. The whole hotel was in need of a revamp and there were more urgent repairs needed like heavily stained carpets . For the prices charged per room I wouldn't recommend it. The breakfast , however, was excellent apart from a dangerously broken chair that injured my husband . We won't be staying there again.
As above Hotel needs upgraded Poorly trained staff Complaints not resolved
We were away from the main hotel in a separate building, this was not made clear on booking. This meant no wifi which states we get free of charge. Also we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated at breakfast.
Room was very spacious and warm.
Our room was located in a remote building a short walk away up the main road from hotel and leisure facilities. THIS was not made clear when we booked. Impacted on our experience as we hoped to use facilities but would have to pack a rucksack to take our clothing , towels etc to leisure facilities and did,nt fancy walking up main street in the cold with wet hair !!. Had to QUEUE for 20 minutes for Breakfast then be told to sit in reception and would be called when table available. total of 1 hour wait for a cold dry cooked breakfast. Very poorly planned breakfast service hotel obviously over booked and staff could,nt cope. Management main priority is to make money before making sure the paying guests have a good experience. When complained to Manager found him to be very RUDE and very reluctant to apologise....
Leisure Facilities Room Location
Bit dull in places though in keeping with the building
Good location and good to have a pool. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Big queues for breakfast, not enough staff and buffet had run out. Admittedly hotel was very busy but this could have been better planned for. Hotel is a bit tired looking in stairways. Bathrooms was quite basic and room was noisy - could hear people upstairs moving around.
Great location in a pretty if very tourist oriented town. Food was okay after a few hiccups getting the correct order.
Tedious long walk to get to room, a couple of flights of stairs and at least five heavy fire doors to negotiate, bit of a warren. Room overlooked a roof and kitchen below in the next wing. Extremely noisy when staff working in the kitchen. Also incredibly creaky floorboards whenever next door/above moved. The heating didn't turn on, the knob on the bathroom heater was totally stuck on "off". The lift was slightly entertaining (and maybe dangerous) as there was no inside wall, making the interior wall visible as the lift moved!
Location was good.
The welcome from the staff.
needs to be modernised. bar was a bit sterile - no atmosphere.
