The quaint old worldly charm and setting. Also its closeness to Thursford for the Christmas spectacular we were attending The access road was very narrow and potholed

Its beautiful "Constable" picturesque location along with its very comfortable interior and accommodation. The location is also quiet and tranquil with excellent country lane walks and abundant nature and birdlife. It is also not far from many nature reserves and if necessary the town of Fakenham. The lack of background music when dining.

Friendly welcome; good food; character of buillding and internal decoration. Dessert menu could be improved with the addition of a 'lighter' option - E.G. lemon mousse or fresh fruit salad.

Lovely riverside location, comfortable, cosy room with a wide choice of good food in the restaurant. The noise from the well was a small disturbance but the hotel's good points more than make up for this and I will hopefully be returning in the future and recommending to others.

The beautiful setting and the friendly welcome. The room was large and comfortable with a view of the river. The evening meal was reasonably priced for the interesting menu and the quality of the cooking. The wine was also reasonably priced. The breakfast offered fresh fruit salad as well as cereal and the cooked breakfast was well up to the standard of everything else. We hope to have the opportunity to return in the future.

I found Sculthorpe Mill to be a historically interesting building with evidence of original features in the structure. Although the milling machinery has been long gone, shaft mountings and and other fixtures can be found in-bedded in the beams in the restaurant celling which must have been for the milling machinery. We also found the food in the restaurant to be excellent. The water that powered the mill still runs through the mill races below the bar area where presumably the mill wheels were once installed. The setting of Sculthorpe Mill on it's waterway in quite countryside is quite spectacular.

I would recommend Sculthorpe Mill to anyone looking for something quaint, beautyfull location, peaceful,we ended up there by accident and it was one of the better accidents, I would say take advantage of the dinner, bed & breakfast rate as dinner is excellent, we only had the bed and breakfast rate so it worked out more expensive, but still not unreasonalbe, if your looking for a romantic weekend you can not find better.

A lovely get away in perfect surroundings. The river flowed directly beneath our window and we could hear it babbling as we drifted off to sleep. Within moments of arriving we had spotted a buzzard, heron, hare and muntjac as well as various wildfowl, ponies and a variety of garden birds - all from our bedroom windows. The food was lovely - great breakfast, the welcome friendly and we left relaxed and refreshed for a day exploring the beautiful North Norfolk coast.

We already knew the Mill from previous visits for lunch or drinks and were well aware of its location and its charms. Staying there simply confirmed what a really nice place it is. Steve, mine host, and his wife and all the staff made the visit very easy and unfussy. We really liked our room and enjoyed, in comfort, the coldest night of the year (minus sixteen centigrade!) and witnessed the unprecedented sight of the millpond half frozen over – worth traveling quite far just for that! It's a lovely place. Nothing ritzy or glitzy about it, just solid good country quality. We didn't eat in as we had family nearby, but breakfasts were up to scratch and Greene King beers never disappoint either! Go there – you won't regret it. We'd have liked to pay less, but didn't really mind paying a little more.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful (and so apologetic when the boiler packed up that not having hot water in the morning was not a problem!) Excellent location, good food and cosy bar - we shall return!

It was a genuine exampe of a North Norfolk country Inn. A very pleasant setting, very welcoming staff. It did not have ideas above it's station; the bar was full of local people, the food was honest, fresh and well prepared, the beer excellent. We didnt have a lot to do with them but that is how we like it. I'm certain if we had asked they would have been able to help. Good place, good people , does what it says on the label. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot and strong, The tv tiny! But so what? The setting glorious even on a November evening; water, river, weeping willows, quiet country. Thanks. Room was a bit small but it was fine.No complaints.

Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal good. Location of the hotel was good and attractive. With a price of £94.50 for b & b for a twin room I was expecting a pretty good room. The previous 2 nights my wife and I had stayed in a twin room in Norwich for £70 per night which I would say is a typical market rate. The room at Sculthorpe Mill was pretty dreary with a very small window. The shower in the bathroom was not thermostatically controlled and difficult to operate when in the bath and the shower curtain did not prevent water escaping so there was water on the floor reaching to the door. There was a stale smell in both rooms and the main carpet really needed replacing. Lighting was by industrial looking fluorescent fittings. The other unwelcome surprise was that there was continual disturbing noise from a water pump which seemed to be located close to the bedroom. The pump was clearly audible from the room and came on whenever water taps were turned on. The noise stopped at 10.30pm and restarted at 6.30am. When we checked out I told the lady owner that I was unhappy to pay the high price for the room but she made it clear that there could be no adjustment. She did not want to discuss the causes of my complaint. I said that I was quite happy to pay for the meals but she said that she would take the full sum from my credit card the details of which I had given at the time of booking on the internet.
