“The rooms were quite basic, however were nice enough for an evening. The location of the hotel was excellent, surrounded by shops and restaurants and within view of the castle. I would stay here again and recommend the hotel.”

You can speak with somebody called the duty manager. Sadly, she's too junior. To understand the problem, much less to act on it. Will she escalate ? My stay was horrebly. I was assigned room 410 which is a balcony to the back of the annex. Just near where the disco music comes from until very early hours of the morning. The hotel management is aware of the noise, they still put customers there, regardless that with the noise the room is unfit for purpose, as per the current law. When `I got into the room, rebuilt as vanilla three start hotel anywhere else in the world, with no charn, no character, I found a pre-emptive letter stating the hotel had changed ownership, and was under renovations in order not to loose the 4 stars they once got, in ye old good years, where it was a reputable establishment. I could have stayed in a better room, in a more character hotel for half the money anywhere in eaton (just across the bridge), or in the travelodge if that was the kind of hotel I would have wanted. The Wren now looks like a travelodge, no character. For the record, I payed with my amex under protest.

Excellent position next to the river, 2 min walk into Windsor old town, the castle and Eton. Room newly refurbished, was spotlessley clean and had a super king bed. Decor very well balanced between contemporary and traditional. Staff (especially the reception and spa) were very friendly, smiled and were happy to give advice. Terrace next to the river wiould be excellent in better weather. Pre booked breakfast good value and quality. Lots of good restaurants, bars and tea shops on the doorstep. Riverside walk just outside the door. Early hours revellers could wake you up as they make their way between Windsor and Eaton. Bar prices. We would always spend more in the bar if they were more in line with local bar prices.

Despite having one of the cheaper rooms it was very pleasant. The hotel was interesting because of its age and view out over the Thames made breakfast pleasant. Our room was at the foot of some stairs and we were disturbed at night by other noisy guests.

Location - It is right in the center of Windsor by the Thames and a short walk to Eton. The staff were excellent. There is no car park in the hotel, as advertised, but there is a railway car park that was not expensive, £6 for 48 hours, and a short walk away. Windsor is overrun with tourists and so is very busy. Not all the rooms are in the main building but in other buildings close by. The hotel has a slightly worn and dated feel about it, common of city hotels that are probably very busy.

A beautiful old building, with a luxurious feel, and extremely convenient for the town centre. And the staff were lovely. With it being an old building, there was quite a bit of noise (mainly due to floorboards). Also, the showers weren't great: those in our room, and our friends were both not fixed to the wall properly. They were also difficult to use (not thermostatically controlled, and kept going hot and cold). However, the water pressure was good.

I was staying with my son aged 18 so we had a twin room. We were there for the queens scout award. The hotel was perfectly situated for the castle and local shops and restaurants/cafe'S. Having stopped at many modern hotels, this one had more character with the wooden panelling and querky corridors. We particularly loved the restaurant area overlooking the river where we had an excellent breakfast, pre-paid for £10 per head, could have eaten as much as you like which is good for an 18 year old. The staff were courteous and polite, especially liked the front door being opened for us and the luggage storage was useful.

I thought that there were plenty of staff around to help and that they were pleasant and polite. We were hoping to sleep in until 9am but the chambermaid staff were talking loudly outside our room at 7.45am and 4 times after that. Our one night stop was meant to be a relaxing stay after working in London for the week.

The classical design of the rooms. Very comfortable. The annex makes it awkward to get to the spa comfortably. Although not too important, it would be nice to see an LCD TV or the equivalent in the room instead of an old CRT box.

I liked the location and the view we had of the Thames from our room window. Plus I liked the big super king bed. It was a lovely hotel and staff were great. I would improve the 'squeky floor' in the bedroom as it made a lot of noise when walking on it. Also update with a new bathroom.

The staff was very friendly and offered excellent service. The food was outstanding and eating in the dining room with the view was memorable. Good value for the price although see below. I thought the room was "dated" but could have been improved simply by something on the wall. There are so many gorgeous views around there....even framed photographs would have helped. The beds were narrow and not comfortable. The warm part of the blankets were narrow too. My sink had very hot water but the shower water was barely warm enough. That said, it was good value for the price. The rooms did have the amenities we needed. Would have been nice to have a plug for the hair dryer in the bathroom.

We were fobbed off with a room 50 yards from the entrance. The door opened directly on to an alley way which was lit up at all hours by passers by activating the movement controlled light. The room had no natural daylight requiring artificial light all the time it was occupied. Breakfast was a walk in the rain which we did no take up. So reject rooms 81 and 82 at all costs. The excuse offered by the receptionist according to the Human Resources Manager was that she thought we would not be able to cope with stairs but we were not asked whether we could.

- Location is ideal for trips to Windsor Castle. - Staff are very helpful and friendly. - Breakfast by the river was lovely. - Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends. It was everything you'd want from a hotel and more... Can be noisy at night time, having a city centre location but that's a small price to pay for the great central location.

The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our TV didn't work so had to have a new one put in. The heating didn't work so had to have an emergency heater brought up until heating could be fixed. Agenerator noise kept us awake each night, it must have been located just above our room, so no sleep really. Room was pretty basic really, for the price we paid I would have expected better for Windsor. Not good value for the price sorry and I will not be staying again.

They were very helpful.I ended up with my 2 grandchildren in our room and it was no problem to set up a bed and cot in our room at no extra charge per day. Asked for fresh milk to have with our tea and it was delivered to our room no problem. Parked our car a couple of nights one day needed to get out in a hurry and it was waiting at the front door for us... So handy for Windsor just a short walk away from the town. We had an exec room which was nice.
