Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & SpaThames Street, SL4 1PX Windsor (Show map) Good, Score from 287 reviews“The rooms were quite basic, however were nice enough for an evening. The location of the hotel was excellent, surrounded by shops and restaurants and within view of the castle. I would stay here again and recommend the hotel.”

You can speak with somebody called the duty manager. Sadly, she's too junior. To understand the problem, much less to act on it. Will she escalate ? My stay was horrebly. I was assigned room 410 which is a balcony to the back of the annex. Just near where the disco music comes from until very early hours of the morning. The hotel management is aware of the noise, they still put customers there, regardless that with the noise the room is unfit for purpose, as per the current law. When `I got into the room, rebuilt as vanilla three start hotel anywhere else in the world, with no charn, no character, I found a pre-emptive letter stating the hotel had changed ownership, and was under renovations in order not to loose the 4 stars they once got, in ye old good years, where it was a reputable establishment. I could have stayed in a better room, in a more character hotel for half the money anywhere in eaton (just across the bridge), or in the travelodge if that was the kind of hotel I would have wanted. The Wren now looks like a travelodge, no character. For the record, I payed with my amex under protest.

Great restaurant Didn't like being put in the annex across the street. Uncovers walkways meant walking in heavy rain with luggage. Also did not like having to pay ten quid to park in the hotel parking lot.

Great location. Very nice lobby. Easy and quick check-out. Single bed. Old tv (apparently they are upgrading their system.) Room was very cold. No fridge. Old carpet in the room. It was a real labyrinth to reach the room (2-3 stairs and then another 2-3 stairs).

Location and one member of Staff! This was my third visit and my last! Again the unrefurbished rooms are very disappointing. They really need to accept they are poor quality and the services do not work correctly. The hotel should have two price policies depending on the rooms and when they are completed updating the older rooms.

Location - next to Windsor Castle, next to Eton Riverside Train Station. Walking distance to shops and Windsor Great Park. Cannot fault value for money, location and the amenities in the refurbished section of the hotel is 5* Rooms in the main part of the hotel including the reception and main restaurant is looking tired and shabby. Rooms have very thin walls so the early risers and those checking out early can be well heard of. No sound proofing.

Location is excellent and has a very nice feel On arrival we were taken across the street to the other part of the hotel, was not aware we would be staying there ...anyway the keys would not open the door and we had to go back to reception with the porter.they allocated another room and we were shown to that...in the evening the street became very noisy and the noise did not stop till the earl hours as the room looks over the road and has no double glazing we did not get much sleep !!! pretty bad really !!

Room I was in was in the annex telivision was from the 60s it would not surprise me if the banister leading to the rooms colapses and then you will have a visit from health and safety have stayed a few times in hotel itself with no complaints but if I was to stay again I would make sure it was not that part of the hotel

Amagical experience with lovely staff. The best thing was the Wren Spa, this was truly beautiful a warming jacuzzi that soothed aching muscles and a relaxation area and sauna. With therapists helping you if you needed total treatments.Secondly the fine dining was so lovely presented the chefs really are top and the service incredible. Menus where well presented and options available. The only issue was the annexe where we stayed which was not part of the main building, so you had to cross the street to go to the dining rooms which is not much fun in the rain when your dressed up.

The location by the Thames. Large and comfortable bed, good bathroom. So called "most expensive" room located up back stairs and a fire escape: pretty poor to get to and view overlooking rooftops. Not what one expects from a "superior" room. No safe, no minibar, cheap doors : seemed very basic.

Location It is a disgrace to charge this amount for this quality of hotel. The furniture is very shabby, the tv only has 3 channels, and the corridors to the rooms are a disgrace. This is rip off Britain at it's best. The only good thing about this hotel is the location, which is right in the centre of Windsor.

The location is perfect. Right on the river and close to Windsor Castle, shopping and restaurants. The room and the bathroom were terrible, very old fashioned, cracked floor tiles and creepy crawlies everywhere. The double bed was on the small side too. Very noisy at 7.30am on a Saturday, when wanting a lie in as away from the family for the weekend. The service was very slow and at some point the waiters were rude. The restaurant manager didn't seem care that most, if not all the tables were complaining. He just stood around doing nothing and not helping out when they were clearly short staffed and didn't have a clue what they were doing and which table had ordered what....really bad.

The breakfast was excellent but it would be better if this was included in the room rate. We had booked two rooms at the same time but they were in different buildings which was awkward. The decor was a bit shabby in our room with wallpaper coming off in the bathroom and the spotlights in the bedroom looked like they had been installed by an amateur.

Location It was extremley noisy in the rooms, right by a staircase and could hear all other guests wakking up and down the stairs. Building wirk started above our room at 0815 !! No parking available for us but we did use the train station car park which was reasonable and easy to use.

Location good. Public car parking near by expensive but possible. However it wouldn't be adequate for more than an over-night stay. I appreciate that the hotel has recently changed ownership. However my room was rather shabby, furniture ugly, shower but no bath. Stair and hall carpets grubby. Not a 4* experince at a 4* price. I'm sure it will be delightful after the up-grading is completed.

We were very disappointed in our room upon arrival at the hotel, there were stains on the carpet, stains on the wall, cobwebs on the walls, the shower was very poor and the headboard was loose from the bed so sleep was out of the question. We did complain and we did receive a complimentary breakfast which was very nice and a move to an executive suite however another guest was given the same key as ours and just walked into our room at about 5pm which was totally unacceptable. Also other guests were making a lot of noise, swapping rooms and ordering room service at 4am in the morning so we had another sleepless night. Overall we did not have a very good experience of staying at your hotel and would not recommend anyone else staying there. We do appreciate that the hotel is being modernised but this should have been mentioned in your web site as our room was very basic for what we paid and not what was shown in your web site

I really like this hotel. The location is great, the staff are professionally courteous and nothing is too much trouble. I particularly like the spa and the staff there. Although some work was being done to the shower room in the spa disruption was kept to a minimum. The fire alarm in my room went off twice for no reason, which was a nuisance. The hotel's Internet wasn't working and this caused me some inconvenience. Also the tv in my room was dated and did not have a brilliant picture. These are all technical faults which should be rectified. If breakfast was included in the room rate it would have made the value for money more realistic.

The staff were friendly and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic and I would thoroughly recommend it for sightseeing around Windsor, shopping, theatre etc. The hotel itself needs updating and refurbishment work is in progress. Currently it is more 3 star standard rather than 4 star.

The outdoor Jacuzzi and relaxation room. It was nice to be outdoors but warm at the same time! It would have been nicer if the jacuzzi was open later on the Saturday. Our room was an ex smoking hotel room and the smell was still evident when you walked in.

My stay at the Sir Christopher Wren was a very pleasant experience. At the time I made my booking I included a note to say I could not walk long distances as I was recovering from an accident. I was very pleasantly surprised that the staff went out of their way to to make me comfortable and I was given a room on the ground floor annex that was designed for people with disabilities . The room was spacious, comfortable, and the best part was the huge bathroom that made me feel very safe to shower in. As I was traveling alone I particularly liked the call cord in the bathroom, as I felt I could call for help anytime. The staff were very kind and personal. I loved the warm friendly atmosphere. I will definitely choose this hotel for all future visits.
