It was close to the beach
Food, facilities, state of bathroom, shabby, dusty and dirty, not cleaned fully...
Location and friendly greeting.
The bar in the evening was so bad it was almost funny.
Poor television reception Very poor wifi
The location is superb, sea view was nice.
The bed was horrific, the room was dirty, marks on everything apart from the bed clothes. Not the fault of the cleaner who had seemingly done their best, but the room was just grubby. Even for the price of £60 it wasn't worth it. And me and my girlfriend aren't pampered princesses. We just don't appreciate spending money on something so poor.
The location. Breakfast was included in price always a bonus. The reception staff were brilliant.
Bar staff are to slow and miserable. Waited 10 mins to be served and I was the only one at the bar.
It's position was superb. Also go od for families wanting the beach
It's right there, at the beginning. A little walk from the train. Comfortable room. Quiet. Good breakfast to start us off the next morning.
Had no WiFi at the far end of the hotel. Not a great evening meal for vegetarians.
the quality of the bar meals was excellent and good value for money. The location is amazing and the view if from our bedroom was a pleasant surprise. Bar area was ok and prices reasonable
The Hotel is very dated, and sorry to say not very clean. We were unable to order food in the restaurant because the hotel had a coach party in and they were using it( not advertised on the website that the restaurant is off limits if the Hotel is catering for for a coach party). We stayed two nights, ordered a bar meal on friday night with no problem., On Saturday night again we couldn't use the restaurant so asked to order a bar meal but were told no food was available as the hotel was catering for both a wedding and a coach party and were too busy. No thought it appears for other residents of the Hotel then ! I asked to speak to the kitchen staff as this was not satisfactory, the hotel is a good walk from St Bees and we didn't want to have to walk somewhere else for Dinner, when we booked we expected to be able to eat at the Hotel. After some discussion the chef advised that residents of the hotel could Order food .Job done, but should have been thought about in the first place! The hotel does not have enough staff for its size and most of the staff we encountered didn't appear to know what they were doing, apart from the lovley lady serving breakfast on Saturday morning who went out of her way to re-set a table so we could eat - most of the tables were just sat there with used breakfast pots and plates still on them, and people were waiting for tables. After a while people began to clear the tables themselves. My opinion , for what its worth, is the Hotel needs a good shake up from the top down and courses for staff in customer Service would not go amiss. Also it needs a complete re-furbishment, it is very dated ( you don't expect in this day and age to enter your bedroom and find the curtains hanging off the track and being held together by a safety pin!) the only thing currently it has in its favour is its location which is spectacular.
Shower not working Bicycle store needed
Sign to reception points wrong way
liked everything staff were fantastic location could not be better made to feel very wecome
nothing to dislike
Very close to a lovely beach and good walks.
Food on the evening bar menu was rather basic.
Comfortable bed Friendly staff
Food choice Breakfast quality
Near the sea, sea view from room, good breakfast.
The seacote is a clean hotel with good staff . And a nice view. That's the good bit.
Sorry a long list .We stayed in two rooms .room one light switch fell apart then the hot water tap all so fell apart mid shower .But the worst by far was the bed the frame was literally rotting and rotten with a old RED blanket covering god what stains. TRULY horrible. Room two was a bit better phone socket broken off the wall so no phone wall thin as paper and of coarse a stained blanket on the bed.
Friendly staff who made us feel welcome fantastic location
breakfast was disorganized, but once we managed to order food it was lovely
Excellent Location Pleasant and helpful staff Good breakfast Clean room Comfortable bed
There was nothing that we did not like
location plenty of tea & coffee etc in room
Shower didn't work and bath was too small for my husband so he could only wash for the 4 nights we were there. We were told it was because people in the next room were using the shower at the same time. Walls very thin so we could hear the TV in the next room. Entertainment on one night only and we could hear it very loud in our first floor room. Chipped & cracked crockery in breakfast room. Breakfast was good on first morning then 2 coach parties arrived, we were getting the smaller breakfast meant for the coach parties not the larger one we had paid for. Porridge only available on first morning. Third morning they ran out of mushrooms at breakfast because they needed them for a pie in the evening. Very, very disappointed and will definitely not return to that hotel and certainly would not recommend it to anyone. Only really good point was the location which I think the hotel relies on and doesn't bother with guest satisfaction.
Close to the beach
Rooms in need of updating, a tlc
Loved the coastal walk from the hotel door and the views from our room. Food from the hotel restaurant is excellent, as was the breakfast. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Hotel is a little bit dated, but this is reflected in the price you pay to stay . It is clean and in an excellent location so this wouldn't put us off staying again.
The staff were very good.
Where do I start! The bed was old and lumpy and we had a terrible sleep. The hot water system was pretty much broken down. The wi-fi only worked near reception. The breakfast was very poor (canned tomatoes for example). The dinner, which according to a staff member was prepared by a fantastic chef, was barely edible.
The room we stayed in was very very tired. The carpet needed cleaning, there were no pillow protectors. The bed was so soft. Booked for two nights only stayed one
The locality, the price was reasonable, but I'd rather have paid a little extra and stopeed somewhere much nicer.
Although I'm a smoker myself, outside the main doors was covered in cigarette buts as were the plant pots/ashtrays overflowing with used cigarette boxes and glasses. The carpets in places were thread bare and the whole place needs refurbishing.
The staff in the breakfast room were the best feature of this hotel.
The standard of accommodation was extremely poor. The bathroom and bedroom were not clean with out of date fittings. Stained seating in the bar, dirty windows, curtains old shabby and didn't close properly, food poor and many more reasons why I wouldn't return.
