With its commanding Tudor façade, tall chimneys and a huge carved oak entrance, this splendid hotel sits amongst beautiful gardens and fine trees in the heart of Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Tudor arches lead you through Seckford’s historic corridors; the proud past of the hall can be seen and appreciated by all who give time to experience it all. Offering a blend of luxury, snug accommodation and the charming history of the hotel, the care and detail, which is lovingly sustained by its present owners, make this one of the county’s premier hotels and restaurant.

During your stay, take time to enjoy the hotels splendid gardens and lake and, if time permits, there are a further 34 acres of private pasture and woodland to explore. Informacje o hotelu

The hotel owes its illustrious past to the long line of the Seckford family, and for over 520 years their heritage can still be appreciated. Throughout the hotel, the very best of care has been taken to successfully blend modern facilities with the hotel’s varied and regal past.

Benefitting from its Elizabethan past, large quantities of oak was used in the panelling, ceilings, doors and archways, with intricate carvings depicting the history and splendour of its period. Little touches of history preserve its past with pieces of furniture that once graced Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. The panelled lounge of the hotel was once a great hall and in it sits the very chair where King Edward VII was said to have died.

In truly unique surroundings, the courtyard leisure facilities are set inside a magnificent 1550's Tudor Tithe barn, which is adjacent to the hotel. Here you can enjoy the crystal clear waters of the large swimming pool and, for those who wish to expend more energy, a fully equipped and modern gymnasium is at your disposal. The hotel also has a health and beauty salon, with a qualified beautician.

In addition there is a conference room facility which provides the perfect area for executive meetings in air conditioned comfort.

Close by is The Courtyard Restaurant, which offers light meals and a relaxing drink after a healthy day of sporting leisure, also available are afternoon teas, together with Bistro style suppers.

An intimate setting for sumptuous dining awaits you in the oak panelled dining room. Each table beautifully presented with crisp cotton linen and sparkling glasses.

Specialising in lobster dishes, the chef pays particular attention to fresh ingredients available from local farms and fishing waters. Take time to peruse the extensive menu, offering a wide selection of fresh fish and tender meat dishes, individually prepared for each guest. There is also a selection of vegetarian dishes imaginatively created and presented for guests who prefer not to eat meat, but leave a little room for desert!

There is a wide selection of fine wines from world vineyards to complement your meal.

Bar Lunches:
Ideal for that quick business lunch or to catch up with family and friends, enjoy the cosy and warm atmosphere of the Tudor Bar and Lounge areas.

Available Monday to Saturday lunchtimes only. The delicious home cooked lunch menu includes tasty sandwiches, bar meals and snacks.

Banqueting in the Lakeside Suite:
The Lakeside Suite holds up to 120 people. It is a popular venue for weddings and conferences.

Seckford Hall is set in the heart of Suffolk's Constable country, but with easy access to major road links and a gateway to many picturesque towns and villages. The hotel is just 7 miles north of Ipswich via the A12, and it nestles in a hollow to the west of the Woodbridge by-pass.

Snape Maltings: Experience a wonderful day strolling around the many shops offering an array of special things to buy for yourself or your home. There is a craft shop, antiques and collectors centre, things for the garden and excellent food available too.

River Boat Trips: Why not take a boat trip between Snape and Iken Church, a real piece of history dating back to 647AD, or from Waldringfield down the picturesque River Deben.

Woodbridge: Explore the narrow streets and discover the Tudor timber framed buildings, a Victorian windmill and two fascinating museums on Market Hill.

Framlingham: Walk the full length of the remarkable 12th century battlements that encircle the castle where Mary Tudor once lived.

Ipswich: Visit this delightful market town for excellent shopping facilities and a stroll around the docks.

Fabulous hotel in beautiful grounds - attentive staff and excellent room facilites.The pool and spa were a real treat.

There was a wedding reception taking place during our stay for which we were given not prior warning and I found the very loud music which kept my friend and I awake until very late followed by the slamming of doors and loud talking of the guests in the corridor after the event inappropriate for a hotel in this price catagory.

Fantastic setting and a stunning building - good facilities and room rates reasonable.

Fixtures & fittings very 'tired' - obviously old and in need of sympathetic refurbishment. Mould on grout in bathroom; yellowing shower curtain etc. Some attention here would improve the guest experience so very much. Also far too many 'Do this / Don't do that' notices strewn around.

Very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Excellent menu, well prepared food. Very pleasant grounds.

Bathroom was perhaps a little tired, but it didn't aseem to matter! Bedroom and bathroom spotless. Club restaurant lacked character/atmosphere.

It did what it said on the tin. There were no major disappointments although a vegetarian option requested was not available on the first day but was thereafter

The bathroom accommodation is dated but was clean and functional.

Nice Room & Clean

Staff unfriendly - stand offish attitude. Clipped manner and wrinkled nose at my attire. After a day travelling and visiting sites (were jeans rather than a suit was suitable attire) - a relaxed evening would have been nice but the NO jeans or trainers in the restaurant was a bit too formal for me.

We enjoyed walking round the lovely garden and the view of the garden from our room.

We had a double bed which was very narrow and found it hard to have a good night's sleep in it. We would have preferred to have less furniture in the room but a wider bed instead. A minor point was that in the retaurant when we had dinner we ordered 2 different bottles of good wine. They arrived at the table ready opened, it is usual to open wine in front of the diners in a restaurant.

Location was perfect for what I wanted to do. Room was a perfect size. Other hotels could not compete with the price I got.

The (formal) restaurant. There is a fixed £30 price and if you are a vegetarian (like me) you will still be hungry after eating there. There is an alternative lighter fare restaurant, though, which I didn't try. I found a pub 1 mile away which serves excellent food.

Breakfast was served cold and had to be returned - cooking poached eggs is not difficult!
