Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
Score from 236 reviews Very good
In need of thorough refurbishment
The hotel is in a very poor state, mattresses are sunken in the middle, carpets worn and frayed , and mostly staff don't care in the slightest , one poor old couple I wached tryed to ask about wifi, there is a particular young man that works reception that was food and ignorant to them, pritty appalling
The front of house in particular were most helpful. I needed medical assistance and they could not have done more to help. Also very good with options to view motorcycle racing.
The staff were there, if you needed anything, but weren't pestering all the time! The room was spacious, warm, but a fan was provided, had everything you could want, including ironing board, iron, etc. lovely sea views from the room we stayed in. Food in the Sir Norman's bar was very good and not too expensive. All in all, a great place to stay!
I tried to find something to not like about this hotel, but failed!
Pool very shallow and small, no jacuzzi or sauna / stream room, wifi was very slow and just about useless.
location to town centre
Over priced for the facility
Food in Sir Norman's Bar
Breakfast; lack of light in room; lack of privacy in bathroom due to proximity of loo to window with only a net curtain; out-of-order lift .......
Room was spacious but dated
Door didnt fit and windows didnt close properly when weather changed it was noisy and cold
The room was spectacular with a view of the water that was priceless. We ate breakfast in the hotel every day we were there because it was so good. I would not hesitate to recommend the Sefton.
The wifi is a little slow but that's a minor gripe.
Everything about the hotel was great and the food exceptional in the Gallery restaurant.
Absolutely fine hotel, perfect service, nice atmosphire. Simply everything was first class. Thankyou for the whole staff of the hotel and also the staff of the hotel restaurants and breakfast personel. They make my and my wife's days perfect in Isle of Man during motorcysle racing days.
Room with a view and friendly staff making the stay very good Facilities were available although we did not use any on this occasion.
Bar food and restaurant food - all were done in garlic or wine. Cottage pie was basically potato pie and wouldn't recommend to anyone. No food for people with allergies and no way for the steak which was marinated in garlic and other substances to be plain. Chef was not flexible so ate out in evenings. Breakfast was excellent. However a good restaurant up the road Allesandros does all and willing to adjust menu/food to suit those with allergies
Seagull living on my windowsill and pecking at window all night
Royal suite for my daughter as it was for her marriage 20 of my guests stayed here, hallways were covered in bits of debris from rooms and threadbare carpet. Asked staff for directions to an area in the hotel, just shrugged there shoulders and walked off. No care taken to customer care
We were welcomed very well. It was clean and friendly
The room that we stayed in for £140.00 a night was no way a 4star. More like a -2star. The decor very very dated. Bed very uncomfortable. Carpets something out of the 50s. Can't believe we went out at 10am came back at 4.15 and the room had not been cleaned.
Excellent location Friendly staff Amazing breakfast Lovely room Superb sea view
Wifi was poor Pillows were bit firm
Location Staff Restaurants
Lack of early breakfast facilities for Belfast travellers leaving at 7am. No swimming pool. Lack of updates in accommodation for regular visitors even for «Privilege Members»
Good location and breakfast was reasonable although nothing special. Room was clean and spacious.
Room had a view into the back alley which is never good.
Polite & cheerful staff .... Nice & clean bathroom ...
Swimming pool is closed . Gym is not open at all times ... Quite tired carpets but the smiles of the staff over powers the downside ...
Breakfast was good and fresh, also room service food was good. Thats it really !!!! if it was a 2 star i wouldn't complain.
Very expensive and not a 4 star. Stayed with my 16 year old son and to be honest we are not the fussy type and very rarely moan, we just get on with it. I wanted to treat him to a good stay in a nice hotel as i nearly died in January due to heart problems. We go the Isle of man every year for a week to go fishing and have some fun. we have stayed in various hotels over the years but never leave a feedback. i had to this time. the hotel cost us £540 for 4 nights !!!! Has got drain problems and the room had a bad smell of drains, no other room to change to due to a wedding at the hotel. Beds were very hard, The hotel is really in need of a makeover but the staff were good mostly Polish. No way is this a 4 star hotel.
The breakfast, the sir norman bar,the size of the room and quality of the bathroom
The lift not working, the swimming pool was small and too shallow for swimming, the sauna and the steam room locked and not in use. The view from an executive room of the rear of the hotel overlooking the waste bins.
Staff were helpful and the room spacious and comfortable. The waiting on staff in Sir Normans bar & restaurant were attentive and the food was very good
No real complaints but one observation - install air conditioning in the rooms
Location was great, staff welcoming .All in all an enjoyable stay.
The hotel overhall in apperance eas good
The bedroom was like a green house no ventillation no air conditioning and when you have a 3 year old for 3 nights beening so reast less in these conditions we actually left 1 day earley and believe me that is a first in 30 years of stopping in hotels around the world. Whats more the staff did not evencare it was as if they were use to it,when talking to staff and management they were fully aware of the uncontrollable temperature and one member of staff even comented that " you are lucky its hot its like an ice box in winter". and believe me this is the first time i have ever commented badly on an hotel in my life
Visited to pay respects to my cousin who died in the TT races in 1970 & tick Isle of Man off our list. The location was great, Sir Norman Wisdom lounge food excellent, staff very helpful, parking secure and walking the promenade each night before a nightcap was very nice.
