The upbeat, helpful approach of all the staff. A good standard of room and service of that room. Good food, well served. The location, in the sense that it is only a short drive to stunning scenery and the local castle town. A fair price for overnight and various 'packages', which (sensibly) takes in to account that it is far from a city or sophisticated setting. The very high price of average wine. A French rose, for example, was priced at a staggering £14 for a large glass. That is more than the Savoy, London. The house champagne, at £51 bottle, is ordinary beyond belief: sharp taste in the back of the throat, from the very first sip. A decent 'house' wine, well sourced and at a fair price, should be served in a hotel of this quality. Separate to this - and nothing to do with the hotel at all - we were surprised and very disappointed that car parking or observation spaces were not provided anywhere near Snowdonia. Walls and fences everywhere and the only (small) space we found, along the A4085 was a minimum £4. The whole area seems obsessed with keeping tourists out. If there was a superb public transport system, fair enough. But there's not.

Excellent location, friendly and very helpful staff. Excellent food - beautifully presented (with proper table napkins!). Management should seriously consider complementing the excellent wine list with a selection of wines in the price range of £20 - £30. Only one red wine came into this category at the price of £29.

Fantastic service from arrival to departure. Nothing was too much trouble The price of wine by the glass is way too expensieve, double the cost of some London hotels.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely indoor pool. Perfect temperature and size. Toiletteries were not replenished on 2nd night stay. Bathrobe and slippers not provided. Slippers and toiletteries had to be requested for. Dinner buffet on Christmas day was mediocre with poor selection but lamb in hot pot was divine.

A pleasantly quiet location having excellent hotel amenities and offering easy access to all the facilites available in Snowdonia and the surrounding areas including Anglesey. The prices charged reflect standards which were not always achieved; the staff were all pleasantly efficient but on occasions there were just not enough of them to produce what was promised. Also the fabric maintenance standards were not as good as they should have been - too many little niggles which combined to create a less than good impression.

Staff extremely polite and very helpful. Good choice of food and very well cooked. My only criticism, and this is being a bit picky, was that there were too many flies in the conservatory dining area which could be easily sorted by some sort of fly repellant. Also personally I think the bar area could be brightened up a little to to make it a bit more welcoming rather than sit in the library.

The Hotel was lovely, the staff were excellent and the facilities were great. Our room was very spacious and had more than enough room to acomodate the two extra beds for our kids which were all set up when we arrived (free of charge). The swimming pool was great - nice and warm which made it perfect for the kids. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, very family friendly. The location was great too for exploring the sights of North Wales. Overall a great break.

The staff were the friendliest I have ever come across at a hotel anywhere. They made being away from home with a baby very easy. The cot was set up in our room when we arrived there was even an extra single for an older child had we had one. The chef at breakfast cooked special salt free dishes for our baby and even cooked us extra to pack for lunch as she is fussy about shop bought baby food. It was one of the most stress free trips with the baby ever and I travel with her a lot. Dinner was good but very expensive

I loved the swimming pool and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Although the staff worked really hard to make it such a relaxed atmosphere. There wasn't anything I would criticise about the hotel.

We had a lovely bedroom with a four poster bed - which was a surprise for us. We booked our evening meal in the hotel resturant - it was very good. The staff were really friendly and approachable and our stay allthough only one night was very relaxing. We used the pool with no issues.
