The upbeat, helpful approach of all the staff. A good standard of room and service of that room. Good food, well served. The location, in the sense that it is only a short drive to stunning scenery and the local castle town. A fair price for overnight and various 'packages', which (sensibly) takes in to account that it is far from a city or sophisticated setting. The very high price of average wine. A French rose, for example, was priced at a staggering £14 for a large glass. That is more than the Savoy, London. The house champagne, at £51 bottle, is ordinary beyond belief: sharp taste in the back of the throat, from the very first sip. A decent 'house' wine, well sourced and at a fair price, should be served in a hotel of this quality. Separate to this - and nothing to do with the hotel at all - we were surprised and very disappointed that car parking or observation spaces were not provided anywhere near Snowdonia. Walls and fences everywhere and the only (small) space we found, along the A4085 was a minimum £4. The whole area seems obsessed with keeping tourists out. If there was a superb public transport system, fair enough. But there's not.

Excellent location, friendly and very helpful staff. Excellent food - beautifully presented (with proper table napkins!). Management should seriously consider complementing the excellent wine list with a selection of wines in the price range of £20 - £30. Only one red wine came into this category at the price of £29.

Comfort, the freindliness of the staff, the evening meals were very good The wine list prices, a minimum price of £23 and no house wine choice really did let the dining room down. Whilst the breakfast staff were freindly and helpful, the cooked food was not of a similar quality to the evening fare. A noticable inconsistency.

Staff very friendly, food excellent, room good size and location (opening on to courtyard) very good. Uncomfortable beds due to poor quality mattresses we could feel all the springs. At times conference delegates clogged up corridors at coffee time making it difficult to move around the hotel.

From the moment you arrived at the hotel you felt at home, and the staff at the reception were extremly welcoming and informative. The room was spacious and well fitted out, and you were even offered fresh milk for your tea/coffee tray. The bathroom was spotless and a 4 piece suite, plus large toiletries and huge fluffy towels. The restaurant had a lovely ambience, excellent food and great staff. The breakfast was excellent too, and freshly cooked, and nice little touch of serving your fruit juice in an individual glass jug for you to pour yourself.

Immediately felt relaxed and welcomed. Our room was a lower priced room but it was spacious, had a lovely garden view, and the 6' bed was extremely comfortable. Also we took advantage of the breakfast in our room option for no extra cost which was a real treat. The staff were courteous, helpful and friendly. The meals in the restaurant were either Table d'Hote or a la Carte and were expensive; also the wines were extortionate - £34 for a chilean merlot - one of the cheapest! We ate there for our first night but it was prohibitively expensive to eat there again I'm afraid.

Fantastic service from arrival to departure. Nothing was too much trouble The price of wine by the glass is way too expensieve, double the cost of some London hotels.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely indoor pool. Perfect temperature and size. Toiletteries were not replenished on 2nd night stay. Bathrobe and slippers not provided. Slippers and toiletteries had to be requested for. Dinner buffet on Christmas day was mediocre with poor selection but lamb in hot pot was divine.

Large rooms. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. DVD in room. Tired and worn decor and broken lamp in the Executive room. Balcony small. Cheap toilet paper. Generally not up to the luxury experience as portrayed in hotel description.

Stayed for three nights. Staff were extremely helpful, Location is superb. Excellent breakfast/dining facilities. Room was large and comfortable with good bathroom. The wines with the dinner were very expensive. Only a small thing, but the chain was missing on the bathroom basin plug.

A pleasantly quiet location having excellent hotel amenities and offering easy access to all the facilites available in Snowdonia and the surrounding areas including Anglesey. The prices charged reflect standards which were not always achieved; the staff were all pleasantly efficient but on occasions there were just not enough of them to produce what was promised. Also the fabric maintenance standards were not as good as they should have been - too many little niggles which combined to create a less than good impression.
