Staff very helpful and accommodating, nice and clean and very quiet
Had two single beds pushed together...
Great location, great food and peacful
No hot water for 24 hours and staff didn't really care, which was a shame. No discount offered for the inconvenience. I wouldn't rate it as a four star, three maybe.
The bedroom was roomy with good quality extras.
Hotel had a tired appearance and the staff were inexperienced. It was not to the standard or location that we would expect for the price and star rating.
All good apart from opposite
Wine not properly chilled
Very little . The location was very handy for Sellafield Sites ltd which was our destination( outside the gate
The food was very poor with limited choices. I had ham egg and chips for dinner the ham was obviously frozen and defrosted by micro wave. The duty manage told me it was the standard practice to steam the cooked ham. When asked why she had no idea. The chef wouldn't come out to explain. My colleague has the burger which he also left it was dry and very much an economy burger. To be fair we not asked to pay for the food. The carpets were stained and sticky as were the tables. This is one of the most expensive hotels in the area and yet I had my worst experience . The only positive was the duty manager who was positive and tried her best with little or no support from her staff that were so young they must have been still at school .
The staff were superb, food was excellent, well worth a visit.
Some of the fixtures and fittings need attention, door locks, blinds, etc.
Good location for my business needs
main hotel is fine but don't like being placed in annexe
The rooms are clean an nice. The food is to avoid. Terrible. The breakfast is poor and boring for such price ranged hotel. The staff has no idea about serving food or drinks at all So if you want to sleep her ok, expensive but clean. The environment is nice. But the good is a nightmare.
Food Staff training level
close proximity for my business meetings very relaxed atmosphere excellent service
Perfect weekend and the food was amazing
Friendly staff, big rooms, clean and tidy, excellent breakfast.
Beautiful old building, wonderfully maintained. The room was clean, the bath was perfect and the everything was spacious. We ate at the restaurant both nights, the food has a good reputation and it surpassed expectations. The food caters for all tastes from hearty burgers to refined smoked salmon (others have mentioned a limited menu, about 5 options for each course, plus specials, I would say it was 'extensive').
food, location, room
The room was large and spacious, with a big bed and nice views over the garden. The garden itself was lovely to walk through, and it was possible to walk all the way down to the river which was peaceful. The restaurant food was great and quite reasonably priced.
The restaurant was a bit confusing in that I think you were supposed to say you wanted to eat in the restaurant, by first visiting the bar and placing your order there and waiting. This wasn't made clear to us at check in, and so we were waiting for ages with other people staring at us which was a bit offputting. After realising this, the servers did come to us, but I felt the service wasn't as polite as with other diners. We returned the next morning for our breakfast and had the same waitress, who was still less friendly to us. She also didn't offer us any toast with our breakfast, nor bring any, despite asking every other table that was occupied during the time we were there.
The staff here are fantastic and the food is lovely.
Food The bed very comfy Staff very friendly Clean Tidy Beautiful surroundings
