There have been many so-called 5-star guest houses we've stayed at that tick the boxes for hair dryers, TV, tea & coffee, wifi, laundry facilities etc etc. but where everything looks tired and worn. NOT so with Sentry Mead! There wasn't anything that looked tired and worn in this lovely guest house - very clean, tidy and with a nice fresh feel, Sentry Mead is one of the best guest houses we've stayed in and we're already looking forward to the opportunity of going back - a real credit to the owners who celebrated their 10th anniversary of opening whilst we were there. Dog friendly, very welcoming and accommodating nothing appeared too much trouble. Breakfasts were first class both in choice and, importantly, quality. Sentry Mead does not run a formal restaurant but rather a simple, lovely, facility for guests who choose not to eat out. For this reason, one could think the menu a little 'limited' on first glance. However, this must be kept in perspective with my previous comment - the menu provides a carefully, well-chosen selection of balanced options for all tastes with a very good bar list to accompany. We chose to eat in on our last night and we were treated to a delicious dinner at a very reasonable price. All-in-all, Sentry Mead proved a delightful place to stay in and was just what we needed for a relaxing long weekend on the Isle of Wight. Next time we'll probably bring our dogs as well!
