The room was comfortable, although it needed another chair. The food was excellent and good value and the staff friendly and efficient.

Our stay was ideal in every way and there was nothing we did not like!

The employed staff were excellent, very helpful and very friendly. The breakfast chef was a particular delight first thing in the morning.

Noisy macerator every time you flush gets a bit annoying. There is no phone signal for O2, Tesco or Vodafone. The wifi provided had very little bandwidth and could not handle Skype or even Facebook messenger. There is a curfew at 12pm, so no working late if you smoke. The manageress has NO people skills whatsoever and has no ability to deal with annoyed customers. Her moto is probably, sod the customer I am always right. I would say avoid if you want to use the net and mobile phone or you hate your civil liberties being infringed. I have warned you, as you will not be able to cancel with a refund once there.

comfortable room with plenty of space. comfortable bed. good standard of cleanliness. Friendly staff. good access to travel into Durham only a few minutes away by car, and short drive to country walks too.

More variety at breakfast other than traditional cooked types, eg. porridge and some fruit choices would have been nice. steep staircase to rooms may be a problem for some guests.

Good location, friendly people including staff. Food excellent with a good range. Area convenient for tourist attractions. Quiet location.

Bathroom rather small but it had all the necessary utilities.

Rooms lacked that extra little touch like a bedside clock/radio, bigger variety of drinks ie no hot chocolate for us elderly guests, pack of tissues. Small things I know but what we usually get in B&Bs. Biggest dislike was the bed mattress although we had no proble changing rooms after pointing out the state of the mattress in our first room.

Not really disabled friendly, stairs very difficult for my wife and room 8 was as far as any to get to.

The pub downstairs was nice, and the food was good. The staff was friendly, and the surrounding area was lovely for long walks.

Although there was wireless internet advertised, it was very slow and essentially useless. Also, it's a bit of a walk into town, which isn't terrible if you have time, but is a bit rough when you have things to do!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were of a good standard and comfortable. Cosy bar area warm and relaxed. Restaurant was outstanding. Easy access to Durham City Centre - walkable distance.

Nothing that would prevent me staying again. Water pressure was low in the shower.

Attentive staff, good food, clean simple accommodation.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was Clean, comfortable and basic. Food was lovely with a nice selection of wine, real ale and whiskey.

Open fires, warm atmosphere and nice beer in the bar, nice rooms, comfy bed.

On the 2nd night, the staff cocked up my meal order and brought the wrong meal even though I heard the waitress say I'd ordered a chef's special. No apology, nothing. They then managed to mess up the bill, eventually charged me for the meal I actually had, but charged me for the complete stay twice to my credit card! Eventually sorted out when it was spotted on the statement, but even so... A nice stay spoilt by poor staff.

Evertything was excellent, superb staff and food was top draw. Quiz is very hard though on a Monday evening but great fun!!

Almost everything you would expect from a relatively low priced pub/b&b. The food was very good and staff very helpful and friendly. It was very clean and comfortable. It is located in a lovely small village in easy walking distance of Durham centre.

I cannot think of anything we disliked.

Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, spotless and spacious room (though bathroom was rather cramped!). Generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits. Restaurant was above the standard of normal "pub fare", and they readily accepted the discount voucher we had found on the "This is Durham" website.

Very poor network in wifi and mobile phone, always couldn't connected wifi and cell phone. No telephone was provided by hotel. Duty bed side table ; I think nobody cleaned the table and bath room had small flies always. Too small room and not for two people because there had a small desk and one chair only.poor shower water and the water temperture was not stable.

some of the young night staff were pleasant but the man from whom I requested a discount due to inadequacy of facilities was unpleasant and refused anyt discounq

Almost everything: steak tasted old shower had no instructions and I couldn't work it and there was no phone to call reception about this. heater didn't work properly and night staff didn't know what to do to to remedy that free wifi didn't work people tramped noisily past the thin wall of my room til all hours
