Shaftesbury Lodge1 Hyndford Street, DD2 1HQ Dundee (Show map) Excellent, Score from 63 reviews“The suggestion to see the local pub Speedwell was spot on-- if I opened a pub it would be exactly like it- comfortable spot for the locals and visitors alos felt quite welcome.”
Lynn,
Cary
On a quiet street with views over the River Tay and the park, the affordable Shaftesbury Hotel is close to the center of the city, university, Ninewells Hospital and main shopping area. Many of the original features at the Shaftesbury remain, giving the building lots of character. The rooms are all very spacious; each is furnished differently. The bar is large enough for a good crowd, yet remains intimate. A wide selection of malt whiskeys can be sampled in the Garden Bar. The hotel's license is restricted to residents only, so you can be sure of a quiet, relaxing evening. Due to the age of the building, the Shaftesbury Hotel does not have an elevator. Hotel Rooms: 12

Good location for city centre, I walked after clubbing at night and it was close, about 15 minutes walk. My single room could do with a bit of update, bed was very old and old fasioned, not suitable for a tall person. The shower was great and hotel was very cosy and quiet. Also breakfast was much better than many 5stars hotels ever have so I was amazed. Breakfast and service were excellent. Overall good value for money for people who like character places.

Good value. Easy parking. Clean rooms and friendly staff. This is not a complaint but the outside of the property needs a lick of paint to brighten it up and make it look more inviting.

We stayed at the Shaftsbury Hotel not Lodge but I assume it's the same place? Friendly staff, very clean and a fantastic breakfast make this an ideal hotel for our needs. This was a repeat stay and will book again. I am unclear as to whether reduced rates are given for more than one night's stay as this would be helpful to know.

My room was spotless clean and the carpet and curtains looked new. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to offer me an exceptional service. It was not the cheapest accommodation I could find in Dundee but after reading the reviews, I'm glad I booked up. It was well worth a few pounds more and I would highly recomend a stay here.
