My room was apparently out of action so they offered room at the Barbican which I rejected; eventually offered 'upgrade' so they did have a room; room ok, water lukewarm; needs instructions for lghts and shower; no lift.

Looked good in the photos, position was good. On 4th floor, 8 landings of very narrow stairs no lift. Tiny room, only 1 chair, one of us had to sit on bed to read or converse. Power point in main room did not work and could not recharge phones or i-pad. No W-Fi. No power points in bathroom and had to dry hair in main room which meant waking my husband. Had to sit on bed to dry hair. Inadequate lighting in bathroom had to put make up on whilst sitting on bed. Supplies were not replaced after first day and had to ask reception for t-bags etc. Microwave was dirty when we arrived and still had not been cleaned when we left. Our son telephoned hotel as could not contact us by mobile and was told no body by our name ""Williams"was staying there. After struggling down 8 flights on stairs on leaving we were asked did we want a hand with our luggage! We stayed at a B & B the night before arriving at this hotel, it was one third of the cost, breakfast included and much superior to this, looks good in photos but most uncomfortable unless you just wish to lay in bed watching TV.

Rooms were very modern and stylish. The bar in the Montcalm was excellent and the staff there were amazing? They remembered our order the second night? I would stay in the main hotel again. The wifi didn't work for the entire weekend. In this day and age that's really annoying. It worked in the hotel but it's no fun being on the iPad in the bar. If I'd had work to do it would have ruined the weekend.

The hotel is located centrally, yet it is quiet location - really close to Oxford Street , Hyde Park and Marble Arch metro Station ( by feet just few minutes ) The rooms have a beautiful and modern design. The room and bathroom were a good size (I stayed in room 08 ) and very clean . The staff were friendly. Hotel was so economic There is free wireless internet is a plus . . There is no lift ( staff helps for the luggages to the rooms ) , small hotel there is no hotel lobby and a breakfast room This mini hotel is good just for sleep

The location was ideal, close enough to all amenities. It would have been appropriate to advise us that refurbishment work was being conducted at both properties either side of us during our stay. We also assumed from our booking that fresh fruit and water was available each day during our stay and not just day one. The staff were foreign and at times did not seem to fully understand us.

We were actually upgraded to The Montcalm just a block away. Very nice place. These scores are for the Montcalm rather than the Shaftesbury Suites.

Great for a business lady - safe, convenient, and clean Unfortunately at the moment, there are building works to both sides of the property - but only during working hours.

We Like'd The decor of the room, the big tv with choice of channels, and not much else Customer Service was terrible, staff that barely spoken English, They didn't put up details that u need a 50 pound deposit on arrival as it said no deposit needed, the room was nice but too hot even with the heating off and the windows opened all day was still very hot ! rooms were very very small! At the top press was very dusty when u turned on air conditioner all the dust flys off into the air ! we had an awful time at this 5 star hotel !!!! ***** first to experience how bad a 5 star could get !! please guys dont book this hotel if u have some expectations...

Location was perfect! That was the main reason to choose this hotel- around the corner is Oxford street and Marble Arch metro station. Single room is in basement (but I was ready for that). The size of the room- for 89GBP it is ment to be as a 4 star hotel room but according to hotel regulations the room has to be bigger. It was like minisized 4star hotel room:) A little bit too poor light in the room.

The location is perfect and the room we got was lovely we didn't find it too small at all it is the centre of London in a converted Victorian house at the end of the day. There was construction going on in the building next door and we were woken up very early by drilling Sat and Mon morning.

I did not like it. The hotel was cramped, cold, noisy inside and outside, I felt I had no privacy given the amount of people outside my rooim including staff, the entrqnce was not secure. I will never use the Hotel again and will not recommend it. I had no rest and felt the provision to be a disgrace. See abve. The Hotel is a disgrace. The worst night I have had in a lifetime of fequent travel. My room may as well have been in the street and that of my coilleague was little more than a box room.

Despite the hotel being small it was lovely decorated and the rooms were beautiful. You could tell alot of thought and design had gone into the presentation and luxury theme. Couldn't really fault the style and comfort and the price was great. One thing I didn't like about the hotel was our room was on the first floor about 2 meters from the reception desk meaning you could hear people leaving and arriving at the hotel. Even as a heavy sleeper I found this quite distracting and annoying. I'm sure however the rest of the rooms are fine. There was also building work going on next door which started at 7:30am which we were not informed about. Meaning again, we kept waking up.

Bathroom sink area needs refurbishing. No bottle opener or room service menu in room, I also couldn't get towel rack to heat up. I wouldn't stay at this location again, one of the poorer Montcalm offerings
