Shandon House Hotel  

Excellent position very close to Richmond station, and a short walk to Richmond town centre with shops and restaurants, and to Kew Gardens. Nicely decorated rooms, excellent shower. Very good choice of continental breakfast.

Well situated close to Richmond station the hotel was comfortable and very well priced. The breakfast room in the basement was fine as it has an airy conversatory and the continental style breakfast was fine. Great for a stay where you are just looking for a room to bed down in at night./

The staff was extremely helpful during our stay, and allowed us to store our luggage with them after our check out while we toured London.

room clean and tidy and made up each day, staff pleasant, I cant vouch for breakfast as I was eating at place of work.

room 9....broken window and on the road side so quite noisey especially as heathrow close by with overhead planes.

Location to Richmond station and Richmond Town, well managed and all clean and working order

I went to a conference in Richmond, so I needed a hotel as close to the venue as possible but also within my rather limited budget. I chose a basic shared room at Shandon House Hotel (4 minutes away from the station and 15 minutes from the venue), which was clean and very nicely decorated. There was a small problem with the internet, but it got fixed quickly. I liked breakfast, the buffet was varied enough, and the staff was very helpful. As far as I'm concerned what cheap hotels lack most is being sound-proof, Shandon House is no exception, but at night everyone in the next rooms was quiet, so that wasn't a problem. I had a pleasant stay, really good value for the money. I'll have a sound-proof room at a more expensive hotel when I can afford it!

Being asked to pay (at least for the first night) when checking in, before being taken to the room. I understand why, but they should let visitors know about this policy when they're booking, not when they've already arrived, I was a bit taken aback by the sudden request. I'm sure an explanation in the description of the hotel would not deter customers, if it's carefully worded.

The rooms where budget but comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful which more than made up for any shortcomings we found. Location is perfect.

Excellent price-quality ratio in Richmond!

It is excellent value and very clean and well organised. The staff are helpful and efficient and the breakfast was extremely good value.

There was nothing worth mentioning that my sister and I noticed apart from the sheets, which I hasten to add we're very clean, made us itch! Maybe it was an allergic reaction to washing powder used on the sheets?
