The kitchenette was useful. It was quiet (apart from the faulty fire-alarm which bleeped constantly throughout two of our three nights). The receptionist did her best and managed to arrange a D.I.Y breakfast for the final morning because we left early. The water pressure was very poor so there was virtually no water in the basin. They provided the minimum one pillow each, no spares or a blanket. One bedside cabinet, no bedside light. No one explained how to get hot water so we had cold showers for two days. The faulty fire-alarm bleeped almost constantly for two of our three days and all night. |

The staff were very, very helpful and friendly and carried my suitcase up all the stairs. Shower was hot. My room was cold and I did not like having to walk outside in the rain to get to it. |

the rooms were clean and the beds had clean cotton sheets. Is it nessessary to have clean towels and soaps every day? Staff were helpful and I felt we got what we expected- the children loved the enormous bedrooms and the T.V's... the water was dangerously hot and the heating was not controlable so one room with a working radiator had to have the windows open and the other we could not open the window but the radiator was not working, thankfully! |

Location only It was nothing like it appeared on website. The kitchen smelled so bad...we couldn't even leave the door open. No phone or hairdryer in room. |

Comfortable bed ( but the room was not like the picture shown when booking!). Thankfully shared facilities were clean. Too hot inside and had to phone the hotel to get someone to come to reception. Thankfully the other reviews prepared me for the expierance! |

The staff were excellent and upgraded my room to accomodate my friend's arrival without hesitation, facilities were ample for the price and you simply can't get a better central location than this Single rooms are a bit small but clean and warm, suites are just excellent |

Comfortable beds and plenty of space in the suite. The entrance was a bit off-putting behind the scaffolding and reception area was not as expected. |

Staff were most accommodating and the amount of space we had in our suite was excellent value for money. Breakfast was served by friendly staff and was made to order, |

The only good thing I can say about this hostel is that is was in the city center. Was unaware that this was a hostel with shared bathrooms, so did not pack accordingly. The two bathrooms with, bathtubs/showers on my floor did not work, so had to walk around the other floors to find a shower that sort of worked. Breakfast consisted of cold cereal and toast. Upon check-in clerk forgot to give me the combo for the front door so had to wait outside one night for 20 minutes for someone to let me in!! As a hostel it is fine, but needs to be listed as a hostel not a hotel! |

Great location, at the west end of Princes Street. Basic but clean rooms with shared washrooms. Slightly noisy at night due to proximity to clubs. |

Being in a relatively central location but otherwise not much more The fact that the room had no shower and bath included and this was not clearly shown on the web site. |

the breakfast was excelent and the staff was friendly. when i made the booking i have requested a double bed and i was alocated a room with 2 beds next to each other. Also there was some work being done on the building and the noise disturbed us in the morning. on the check out i asked at the reception if something could be done and i was told nothing could be done. a refund for a small amount of money given the bad room allocation would be a nice gesture in order to cause good impression and deliver excelent customer service. |

The location was great - walking distance to almost anywhere. And that's about it. Firstly - the name of the 'hotel' is misleading - Shandwick apartments - more like it. And it is just an expensive hostel - I wouldn't classify that as a hotel. And for sure I wouldn't recommend it further. My decision was based on 2 photos and some positive reviews which are simply inapplicable. I had to 'upgrade' which came with higher costs then much better room elsewhere. I hope I will never have an experience like that anymore. |
