Staff very welcoming. But entertainment was really funny went into the bar couldn't get a seat and felt like we had walked into someone's living room older people use this hotel that was the only down side as a couple would Defo use again
Older people seem to take over the bar was funny
Staff are v nice great little pool area, great breakfeasts to start the day with, good location, all was well there at the Shanklin we all had a most enjoyable stay there thank you very much. We will return. Yours Sincerely Geoff n Sal n our two teenage girls .
That a small area of flooring in the bathroom did not get cleaned, it seemed obvious to us the floor was washed with door opened against the bath, thus leaving albeit a small area only seen when bathroom was occupied (with door closed) that had remained unclean. this applied to room F.
Quick check in, nice room and good location.
Foreign staff at breakfast who couldn't understand us. Dull outdated corridors.
The mattress was very comfortable
The smell in the hotel
swimming pool and the staff tried hard.
I have been to this hotel in the past the standards have gone down and the quality of the food was very poor. the staff tried hard but they was a lack of leadership and the barman was hard work, Will not be going back SAD
The location was really good literally a few minutes from the beach! Loved the swimming pool and sauna gave us something to do on a rainy dAy!
If they had a restaurant for lunch and dinner instead of a dinner buffet.
The bedroom and the location Good housekeeping
Bar at the hotel and there was no large still water to drink Should keep the vending machine if u can't provide
The swimming pool was always empty. The sunday roast was passable. The breakfast was plenty.
Our room was dark and dingy, the bathroom had mould around the edges, the wardrobe had no doors and the pillows were lumpy. The walls were so thin you could hear other peoples conversation in there rooms and the doors all slamed shut which kept my wife and i awake every night.
The food was really nice and the staff was brilliant and the hotel was the best we stayed in
Good location & car park
Needs redecorating, air con in bedrooms, the breakfast restaurant was under staffed & we had a long wait to be served , the window sea view from restaurant is spoilt by the over grown trees.
It had a pool.
Never received shower gel after first day we got little tube each when we first arrived then for next 2 days we never got them replaced, had to ask at reception. The room was basic ok it was clean but the walls had lots of stains and what looked like spills up them and the shower curtain had bits of dryed mould on the bottom which didn't look nice.Had to wait to be seated at breakfast sometimes was a few minutes purely because staff was busy but then had to wait for waitress to come and ask for your request, you had to order your tea/ coffee with breakfast and then wait again for them to bring this to u, then wait for breakfast ,was not asked if all ok during breakfast wasn't spoke to once in 3 days at breakfast apart from when we ordered. Also don't want to sound rude but the barman in the evening clearly was not happy not once did he smile or make you feel welcome, he had to keep leaving to go to another room to another bar to serve the men larger as something was broke in the main bar and keep walking it back in my opinion the bar he kept going to should have been opened so he could serve from there would have prob made it easier. Just lots of little things that could and would of made a difference, people who smoked had to stand out side the front of hotel so at night u could hear them clearly from your window sometimes it was gone 1.00am.would not be returning it was ok but not enjoyable there.
Parking Breakfast selection
Regimented breakfast time Swimming pool hours not ideal Too hot
breakfast- great choice and plenty of it.
very warm room, noise from above and next door early in morning (6.30 ish). (needs better sound proofing!)
Large room that seemed as if recently updated. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Choice of breakfast even if menu a little dated (such as prunes or grapefruit as the only fruit offered). Very clean and tidy.
The communal area are dated and past their best but very clean.
hotel was clean - staff at reception and waiting staff in restaurant very friendly. Swimming pool and jaccuzi good
The hotel was very dated-there was no entertainment the 2 nights we stayed (22/23 aug). Breakfast disappointing as better quality ingredients could have been used i.e. sausages. Sauna took too long to heat up. Hotel not good value for money.
Location was reasonable
1)The stale smell of the carpet hits you once you enter the hotel. 2)No air condition considering the size of the hotel. 3)Very dated rooms and bathroom in total need of refurbishment considering I paid £270 for a 3 night stay. 4) Floor board was noisy having to put up with guests above us waking up at 6.30 am and hearing them walking about till 8 when they stomp down for breakfast
Position. Sea views
Shower. Squeaky floorboards. During the day the hotel was like the "Mary Celeste". We had to wait approx. 5 mins plus, till anyone came to the reception.
Good value for money and a comfy bed. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and a good choice, cooked to order.
No snack facilities and would have been lovely to be able to get a coffee in the evening. Also no information about the hotel facilities. i.e It had an indoor pool which we were unaware was open !
everything else was fine
asking for a wake up call in the morning and never recieving the call
The rooms were clean & beds were comfortable.
The hotel needs updating as very tired looking.
Very nice hotel
People swimming in their clothes
Bacon not cooked. Breakfast orders frequently wrong. No toilet rolls left in room. Staff training very poor, not staffs problem they tried very hard. Male bar staff very sullen
- Reception & Bar staff .. - Room comfortable - Location on cliff and close to family
-Recently taken over by a hotel chain with 21 other establishments. - Now mostly coach trade, not yet geared up for private customers. - Bar stock run down, fridges nearly empty. Only dining room bar open. - A limited and fixed restaurant menu probably repeated weekly, as the menu is a glossy brochure that also informs about the new company. - Restaurant service was not great, staff overloaded, and poorly directed. (I've seen other hotels with 3 coach loads and private customers managed a lot better) - Lastly, noisy seagulls at 5am!
almost everything. no outside leisure area. staff unhelpful.slow service in dining room. hotel has a cheek to charge what it did.
no wifi in rooms
