Staff turned down our bed when at dinner left the door unlocked
Wonderful location. Beautiful room. Excellent food. Attentive staff. Pricey but worth it.
After asking twice we were told we should have had more just soap Sad there were no shampoos or other smellies
Just being there !
Level of service
The feeling of a return to country charm and relaxation. The staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The service is impeccable.
The general style and comfort of the hotel
I chose cheese instead of a sweet and was given very small pieces of cheese so thin you could see through them. If I had had it as an extra the charge was £12.50 . I did not say anything so as to avoid embarrassment
Hotel looks sparkling- we feared it may have been tired - but no! Just as lovely as ever.
We could not get wi-fi at the Lodge.
Staff were very good, lovely view from the room. Delicious food.
We did not welcome Booking.coms email inviting us to pay an additional price for a room upgrade. The hotel said they know nothing about this!
Everything we will be returning
There was nothing to dislike
Great location, great hospitality, lovely rooms.
Location perfect , food excellent , reception staff very helpful , Decor lovely
My room was tired and some staff We're not up to the standard expected
fabulous room lovely view . best breakfast ever!
a bit too hot in bedroom at night. could not turn off all radiators.
Check-in seemed unduly complicated.
It was a Ruby Wedding anniversary, and you only get one of those, so this had to be perfect. It was. Luxurious accommodation, gourmet food and a stunning setting. Unforgettable.
Two pots of afternoon tea with two scones apiece was an eye-watering £30. Be prepared.
A beautiful old world property in a beautiful setting.Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food. Very relaxing
That we had to leave!
Excellent service, staff were brilliant from booking in to leaving. Very up-market Hotel which can be sometimes daunting if your not used to that particular crowd but this wasn't at all like that. Rooms were clean and the accommodation outside the hotel is like something out of one of Beatrix Potters books (inside and out). We only stayed New Years Eve but will definitely be returning as we can't wait to see how picturesque it will be in the summer.
Very good food
The staff were amazing. My requests were all met to ensure my proposal was a success. So grateful for their attentive support. We'll be back for our anniversary for sure. #treaured memories x
Warm attentive hospitality from all the staff.....excellent dinner menu....and superbly prepared and cooked using local produce. Wonderful full English breakfasts.....a real treat. Gradually returning under new management to the glorious years of Francis Coulson and Brian Sack the original owners of this luxurious hotel.
For those staying more than two nights, it would be nice to have a couple of different selections on the dinner menu, but this is a minor niggle.
Evening meal, breakfast and service was excellent. View of Ulswater lake from bedroom was wonderful.
Bedroom required an up grade. Carpet in bathroom never a good idea and needed replacing. Room a little too chintzy.
The tasting menu was fantastic, the food exceptional and the service faultless.
Free up grade
TV did not work in up graded room had to move back to small bedroom. Burnt my finger on the temperature of the hot water tap in the small bedroomed bathroom - need to provide a warning sign.
How welcoming & attentive the staff were. A very relaxing atmosphere. Just what we were looking for.
Staff, furnishings, and especially the food were outstanding, lovely setting despite the inc.ement weather we endured!
Rather difficult access raod which could be a problem in high season.we stayed in the lodge which is remote from the main hotel with poor parking facilities.Fabric of the buildings need a little T.L.C.
The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff were exemplary. The restaurant its ambience and cuisine were impeccable. Truly memorable. I would recommend to anybody. Well done
I am not really a complainer. My motto is "vote with your feet" The bedroom décor was a little faded and the shower could have been hotter. These are comments as opposed to compliants. We will come again.
