All the Staff went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time on our 52nd wedding anniversary
All of it
The food and views
It is an amazing place but maybe it's the time of year or whatever, there were flies everywhere. It was difficult to enjoy the delicious meals due to them.
The room was beautiful, the view of the lake was lovely.
The restaurant only has a very expensive pre-fix menu - no choices, you have to have the whole thing. The dinner service was under par and the prices were over....and when we were there there were lots of flies in the dining area and the ac was broken. The food was very good - but again, over priced.
The £75 dinner was not up to the price tag . About £30 overpriced for the meal . I would not stop there again
The food, both quality and taste was exceptional the staff were friendly, approachable and made you feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble from the minute we arrived to when we left.
We stayed in the Edwardian Lodge, and for a remote(ish) country lane, there appeared to be a lot if traffic that you could hear. Just a minor issue though.
The food was excellent
The decor is out of date near to annoying
The location is absolutely stunning, the staff were lovely, so the atmosphere is not stuffy at all. And you do feel as if you are staying in someone's house!
Room was a little on the chintzy side in terms of decor! But that is all!
The ambience, the views the excellent food and the laid back luxurious lifestyle.
There was nothing we didn't like.
We stayed in the lodge. Lovely and quiet.
Price of the wine
Fantastic lakeside location, great for walks right from the hotel. Food excellent.
Stayed here on many occasions just feel the standards of service have fallen a little. I give this feedback to help the management. I sat outside at tables fronting the lake in the late afternoon, the tables were cluttered with empty glasses from previous guests. I wanted to order drinks, I waited for over half an hour nobody came to clear the tables or take an order so I left. This is not the standard service previously received where staff would be attentive, so a little disappointed.
The price of the evening meal was excessive. Breakfast was only average. We were located in one of the garden rooms 100 yards from the hotel (it was raining during our visit).
a fantatstic place to enjoy the beauty of then lakes and wander around like teenagers. Staff are so pleasant and welcoming. and the food was famntastic.
didn't get the view we had before and it is expensive
Lovely Staff. Superb Location. Excellent Food.
Relaxed ambiance, great location, great room, great food
Service is a little slow - not enough attention to detail
Superb in every way . Surpassed expectations
always wanted to stay there. When arrived thought it might be a little stuff- wrong. excellent mix of the formal in informal just as it should be the team here just get it right, making the stay relaxed and comfortable. The food is just wonderful. will be going again. one of the best long weekends in the lake i have ever had in over 30 years of visiting the ares. Just like to say thank to the team.
A present from our sons for our Ruby Wedding anniversary. Wonderful to go back. The food is still excellent, even after 30years.
old fashioned luxury loved all aspects of the food, from afternoon sandwiches and coffees, to dinner in the evening. Cant wait to come back! Beautiful suite with great views.
nothing - it was perfect
The view! Very comfortable accommodation and guest lounges. Good wine list.
Wasn't told we were in the Lodge, which I agree with others needs some refurbishment, and is several hundred yards from the main house. Overall, rather old-fashioned. I prefer something with a bit more pizzaz.
Great setting. Lovely room which was beautifully appointed. The sitting areas and restaurant was delightful and overlooked the stunning Ullswater. Pity about the mustiness in our clothes and the very expensive dinner
Our clothes after 4 days smelled very musty. We were shocked to find that the cheapest meal was 75 English Pounds per person set menu, food only? I have just checked the booking.com site where it is stated that a la carte is available. This is not so. Staying for 4 nights we were forced to drive along a single lane road to Pooley Bridge and eat in the local pub for 2 of the 4 nights of our stay. This is not what we had planned. Disappointed.. The ambiance, service, food and setting
Spacious and clean room with excellent of the lake Ullswater.
Waiters during dinner service were somewhat amateur having spill our wine and advise one of our guest that guinea fowl is pork!
