Sheffield Park Hotel

the room was comfortable, the staff very friendly and the bar meal was very good.

The bedrooms were modern, clean and great for relaxation. The bar was nice for a casual relaxing meal. Staff in all parts of the hotel were friendly.

The restaurant although nice, would have benefited from being as updated as the bedrooms. Some of the cutlery wasn't clean although to be fair there had been three Christmas functions there the previous evening and the restaurant was full. I think this does show how popular the hotel must be.

The friendliness of the staff

Meeting up with family members, especially at breakfast. The bar staff were pleasant and the reception staff.

When approaching our room, along the corridor there were plates of half eaten food etc. There was a used cotton bud on the floor in my room. The bar tarrif was a bit high.

The room was clean and tastefully decorated, and the bed very comfortable; we slept soundly both nights. The staff were most helpful and friendly, both in the restaurant and at reception. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with its extensive choice. The evening meals were also very good - the set menu gave good variety. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and lounging in the jacuzzi. The facilities were clean and smart, and towels provided. On the Saturday the hotel hosted two separate wedding receptions, but seemed to take it all in its stride, with no loss of care for other guests. Nor did we notice any noise. The location was good for Chatsworth House and the Peaks.

The only tiny niggle was that there were slightly long pauses between courses at dinner, even though the restaurant was not more than half-full and there were plenty of staff around. It did not matter to us, as we had nothing to rush for particularly, but I appreciate that it could be irritating if time were limited. Having said that, the staff were without exception very helpful and considerate. Overall our stay was highly satisfactory.

Very noisy bathroom fan!

the general ambience and decor of the hotel was of the highest order and great value for money. the room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. the gym and pool were splendid. the food at breakfast was very well cooked and presented.

although the young waiting staff were very courteous and willing they clearly lacked adequate training especially for busy breakfast times;

Everyone was very helpful from reception to waiters and cleaners. Even though there was a wedding party going on, we had a peaceful nights sleep.

The bottom of the bath was a bit rough.

Modern hotel with friendly staff

We could see hair in our bathroom. We asked to change the room. Immediately we got another one with very correct apologies. But we could also find hair on the second bathroom. The cleaning process in general wasn't very thorough

The bath mat in the bathroom was full of mould - a huge turn off, better to not have one at all!
