the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom and shower were excellent, there was dvd player that was very welcome. we had a family room, the down size was that the double bed was a put up sofa bed not very comfortable for two adults. |

the family room we booked was poorly prepared we had to sleep on the floor as the futon was broken.the hotel staff knew of this but failed to do anything about it. i was reimbursed an embarrasing £10 for our trauma. we will not be staying with shepards again as this was just unaceptable |

Easy parking, comfortable room in peaceful surroundings, accessible dining room with reasonable breakfast, and staff helpful enough. Easy to find. Best buy the newspaper from the filling station opposite if you are making an early start! |

The friendliness of the staff. The relaxing rural atmosphere. The location near to the busy A66 road and to close proximity of Cockermouth town, the Lake District and the west coast. Ample free car parking facilities. |

Most staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Easy access to Cockermouth if you don't mind a walk. Breakfast very average considering the wealth of local produce available in the area. Rooms a little shabby. |

Room spacious and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi access. Good location for Northern and Western Lakes. Cockermouth centre about a 20 minute walk. Room got cold in the afternoon. Breakfast seems as if it had been cooked and then kept warm but still OK. |

It was well located - 10 minutes from town. The rooms were freezing during the afternoon and when we complained we were told the heating was on timer so there was nothing they could do about it. The staff (with the expception of one) were miserable. We had to ask for our toast with breakfast, which arrived as we were finished and about to leave. The bar shut very early and was expensive - certainly not worth £95. |

Hotel is well placed for the Natioanal Park and for us the great bonus is the fact that our dogs are welcome. |
